I am searching for information on my g-g-grandmother, NANCY HARRISON JONES, I do NOT know who her parents or siblings were. She was born 29 August 1814 in GA. She married MARK SANDERS WOMACK 14 July 1836 in Meriwether County, GA in the home of her father, She died in 1892 in Webster County, MS.. In about 1839 Nancy and Mark moved to Chickasaw County,MS. Their first 2 children,William Augustus and Sarah,were born in Georgia. This information was in Nancy's widow's pension application filed in 1879.
I first thought that her maiden name had been Harrison and that she had been married to someone named Jones. I no longer believe that, since one of her sons was named Henry Harrison Womack and the name Harrison was given to several of her descendants there after.I do believe that she was from a Harrison line.��
My grandmother once said that her grandmother had been so proud of the Harrison name, because of the presidents Harrison,that she always signed her name Nancy Harrison Womack.
