Will of Godfrey Suttlemire, 1841, Cambria Co PA

    The last will & Testament of Godfrey Suttlemire of the township of Summerhill in the County of Cambria and State of Pennsylvania.

    I Godfrey Suttlemire considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound memory & mind and understanding (Blessed be the Almighty God for the same) do hereby make known & publish this my last will and testament in the manner following Viz. I will and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Ketner one hundred and fifty dollars in cash in addition to fifty dollars that she has already received. I will and bequeath to my sone George the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars in cash in addition to one hundred dollars that he has received of me same time for which I have his receipt. I will and bequeath to my Daughter Polly Dimonds children the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to be equally divided between them and each share shall be paid as they severally become of age. I also will and bequeath to my said Daughter Polly Dimond the sum of fifty dollars which sum of fifty dollars has already been paid to her husband Daniel Dimond. I will and bequeath to my sone Jacob all my right & title of in and to a certain tract or piece of land surveyed on a warrant in name of said Jacob situate in Sumerhill township & County aforesaid adjoining lands of William Burke dec. and others Containing sixty acres be the same more or less. And also the sum of one dollar in cash which is to be the said Jacob's share in full of my possessions. I will & bequeath unto my Daughter Catherine all the kitchen furniture & Cupboard weir that may be in my house at the time of my decese except two kettles and one large Iron pot of which she Catherine shall have the first choice of the two kettles and my Daughter Polly Dimond shall have the other kettle & my Daughter Elizabeth shall have the large pot and each of my aforesaid Daughters shall have one of the Pewter basins. I also will and bequeath unto my daughter Catherine thirty five acres of land which has been run off the Thos. Vickray tract by Stephen Lloyd Esq. and a draft thereof made by him she the said Catherine to have and to hold the same during her natural life and at her death to be equally divided between her two children now living & I will and bequeath unto my three grandsons the Children of my sone John the sum of twenty five dollars each to be paid them or the survivor of them as they severally arrive at the age of twenty one years. I will and bequeath unto my sone David the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars in cash and one lot of ground situate in the town of Jefferson known on the plan of said town as Lot No. thirty Seven. I will and bequeath unto my grand daughter Elizabeth daughter of my daughter Catherine the sum of Seventy five dollars in Cash to be paid her when she becomes of age. I will & request that my house and four lots of ground in the town of Jefferson together with my personal estate of every description not herein otherwise disposed of be sold for the best price that can be got for them and after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid and after paying the bequests herein before mentioned the overpluss is to be equally divided into five shares Viz Elizabeth Ketner one share George Suttlemire one share Catherine one share the children of Polly Dimond one share and David one share to be paid them respectively, and it is my will that the sums herein before specifically bequeathed shall be paid in the following maner the amount to Elizabeth Ketner is to be paid out of the first money that may be in the hands of my executors after paying my debts &c as aforesaid George Suttlemire is to be paid next after Elizabeth Ketner Catherine Suttlemire is to be paid next after George and David next after Catherine and the other heirs to be paid as hereinbefore mentioned. I also will and bequeath to my Daughter Polly Dimond any interest that may be made on the sums bequeathed to her Children untill they become of age as aforesaid. It is to be understood that my Daughter Elizabeth Ketner has received already the sum of forty five dollars out of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars herein first bequeathed to her which sum of forty five dollars I paid to her husband David Ketner and have his receipt for the same. If any grain of any description shall be in my possession at the time of my decease it is my will that it shall be equally divided between my sone David and my Daughter Catherine also any Flesh meat that may be in my possession at the time aforesaid I wish to remain for the use of whoever may be in my family at such time. I having sold to my sone George the real estate on which I now reside and having made some reservations in said sale as will appear by the articles of agreement in the hands of Wm. Palmer I hereby will & bequeath to my Daughter Catherine all the reservations therein mentioned. I also will & bequeath to my said daughter Catherine the Cooking Stove now in my house. I having put into the hands of David Spulman Esq. some time since a note payable to my sone David four years after date Calling for fifty dollars I will & request that the said sum be paid to him in addition to the sums hereinbefore mentioned when it shall become due.

    I wish it to be understood that all my just demands that may be coming to me at the time of decese shall be collected as they became due or as fast as practicable and applied as hereinbefore directed.

    I do hereby appoint and ordain Pelip Pringle & David Spulman Esq. Executors of this my last will & testament.

    Signed and sealed & published by the above named Godfrey Suttlemire to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence subscribed our names as witnesses thereto this eighth day of November AD one thousand Eight hundred & forty one.

In consequence of the decese of Philip Pringle since the date of the above I do hereby appoint and ordain my sone George Suttlemire one of the Executors of this my last will & testament in the room & sted of said Pelip Pringle decd. Witness my hand and Seal this twenty Sixth day of November AD 1841.
