Will of Jacob Settlemire, 1813, Burke Co NC

In the name of God Amen. I, Jacob Settlemire of Burke County, and State of North Carolina, being weak in body, but sound in mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same, I do this second day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and thirteen, I do make and publish this my last will & Testament in manner and form following: that is to say; I, first of all, recommend my soul to God that gave it, and in the next place of my worldly property I will & bequeath to my well beloved wife Mary, two cows and the Dresser with half of the pewter and furniture on the dresser and half of the pots and Skillets in the house and her bed and furniture therein, and of the grain, Sixty bushels of Corn, and forty bushels of wheat, and of the hogs on the place, her choice of four head and two Bee Stands, and ten gallons of Brandy, and two sheep and her chect and her possession as the law directs. And to my daughter Caterina, I will and bequeath Two Hundred acres of land on the lower end of the place, next her choice of Cows, two Cows and calves and two Bee Gums, and two Sheep and the Black Mare that I got of James Moore, and four Hogs, her choice, and her bed and Bed stead and all the furniture thereon, and half of the pewter and furniture on the dresser and half of the pots and Skillets in the house and her choice of the Chests. And to my daughter Mary's children, to wit: Rebecca & Thomas and Jacob & John, I will a tract of land of 150 acres, lying on drowning Creek, lying above Ruddicils called the Cany Fork, said land to the use of my Daughter Mary her life time and one new chest and all the rest of my land, to be equally divided between the rest of my children and Grand child, my daughter Caterina, daughter Mary, except one tract of land in dispute, lying below the land I gave my daughter Caterina now in the possession of Captn John Smith. All the rest except that, is to be divided between my son Jacob and my son John and my son David and my little Grand daughter Mary, and all the rest of my property, except the black mare's colt, that came of Caty's mare and one cow and one bee gum and a chest, I will to my little Grand daughter Mary, and all the rest exposed to sale, and the money divided as follows, to wit: to my daughter Caterina, One hundred Dollars, and all the rest to be equally divided between all the heirs and my Grand daughter Mary, an equal part, except my daughter Mary, but to my wife and daughter Caterina & Jacob & John and David and my Grand daughter Mary, to be equally divided between them six, and I do hereby appoint James Moore, Esq., & David Bedell, Esq., Executors to this my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof, I, the said Jacob Settlemire have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal, the day and Year above written, signed, published and declared by me, the said Jacob Settlemire, Testator as his last Will and Testament, in the presence of us who are present at the signing and sealing thereof.
