Silver Creek Township Farmer Dies at Age of 71; Final Rites At Denton's
Elgie Pearson, 71, Silver Creek township farmer, died Sunday morning at his home in the Mount Olive section. Death followed an illness of heart trouble that extended over a period of four years.
Funeral services were held yesterday (Monday) afternoon at 4 o'clock from Denton's Chapel church and burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Pearson, who was born in this county in April, 1865, is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter—Cyrus, Nelson and Thomas Pearson, and Mrs. Elijah Keller, all of this county.
He leaves also one brother, John Pearson, of Morganton, Route 1, and three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Baker and Mrs. Jane Bishop, of Route 1, and Mrs. Emma Clark, of Kings Mountain. Surviving also are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Heart Attack Fatal to Mrs. Algie Pearson, Mother of Mrs. Mike Keller.
Mrs. Jo Alice Pearson, widow of Algie Pearson, died suddenly from a heart attack Thursday just four days after her 68th birthday. Mrs. Pearson was stricken at her home on Morganton, Route 1.
She was a lifelong resident of Burke county, and was a daughter of the late Cyrus and Katherine Wilson Settlemire. She was a member of Denton's Chapel Methodist church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mike Keller of Morganton, and three sons, Cyrus Pearson, Nelson Pearson and Thomas Pearson, all of Morganton, Route 1.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at Denton's Chapel church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. G. R. Stafford. Burial was in the church cemetery.
