This Indenture made the Thirtieth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety one between Joseph Weibel of Greenwich Township in the County of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, Yeoman of the one part, and Martin Zettelmayer of the same place Yeoman of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Joseph Weibel for and in consideration of the sum of Seven hundred pounds specie to him in hand paid by the said Martin Zettelmayer at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit and forever discharge the said Martin Zettelmayer, his heirs executors and administrators by these Presents, hath granted, bargained, sold, released and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the said Martin Zettelmayer and to his heirs and assigns, A certain messuage, tenement, plantation and three certain contiguous or adjoining tracts of land situate in the Township of Greenwich in the County of Berks aforesaid, adjoining the lands of Simon Frees and land of late Daniel Mane Smith, Charles Palmer, Jacob Weary and land late William Riegle and others. Containing together Two hundred and ninety five acres or thereabouts be the same more or less being the said three tracts of land which a certain Rudolph Bossert by two Deeds both bearing date the 21st day of May 1770, for the consideration therein respectively mentioned did grant and confirm unto Valentine Weibel in fee who died seised thereof leaving issue his only son the said Joseph Weibel and five daughters to wit: Barbara the wife of John Gaucker, Elizabeth the wife of Philip Henry, Catharine the wife of Conrad Alweine, Mary the wife of Joseph Burky and Eva the wife of Matthias Riffel to whom the same by the laws descend. And whereas the said John Gaucker and Barbara his wife, Philip Henry and Elisabeth his wife, Conrad Alewein and Catherine his wife, and Mathias Riffel and Eva his wife by their release bearing date the 28th day of February 1785, for the consideration therein mentioned did grant and release their shares and parts therein unto the said Joseph Weibel as in and by the said release will more fully appear. Together with all and singular the houses, buildings, improvements, ways, woods, waters, water courses, rights, liberties, privileges, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof, and also all the estate, right, title, interest, property, claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Joseph Weibel of in or out of the same and every part thereof; To have and to hold the said three adjoining tracts of land containing together two hundred and ninety five acres or thereabouts be the same more or less hereditaments and premises hereby granted, bargained & sold or mentioned or intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the said Martin Zettelmayer his heirs and assigns. To the only proper use and behoof of the said Martin Zettelmayer his heirs and assigns forever. Subject to the payment of the purchase moneys, interests and quit rents (if any), now due and hereafter becoming due to the Chief Lord of Lords of the Fee thereof. In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals dated the day and year first aforewritten.

On the Thirtieth day of April Anno Domini 1791, before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the said County came Joseph Weibel and acknowledged the afore written Deed Poll to be his act & deed & desired the same might be recorded as such according to law. Comments: This is the oldest of the Zettelmeyer deeds that I am aware of. It was made to Martin Zettelmayer of Greenwich Township, and this was most likely Johann Martin Zettelmeyer—all other Martins were too young to have bought land in 1791. According to tax lists he was living in Albany Township in 1779 but in Windsor Township thereafter, but he stated in his pension application for Revolutionary War service that he had never lived outside of Greenwich Township.
