This Indenture made the 27th day of May in the year of our Lord 1837 Between Martin Zettlemoyer & George Zettlemoyer of Greenwich township in the County of Berks & State of Pennsylvania Executors of the last will and testament of George Adam Zettlemoyer late of Greenwich township County of Berks & State aforesaid yeoman dec’d of the one part and George Michael Zettlemoyer (a son of said dec’d) of Windsor township County and State aforesaid yeoman of the other part Witnesseth that the said Martin Zettlemoyer & George Zettlemoyer Executors as aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand seven hundred & thirty dollars lawful money of the United States to them in hand well and truly paid by the said George Michael Zettlemoyer at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and thereof do acquit & forever discharge the said George Michael Zettlemoyer his heirs executors & administrators by these presents have granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed released & confirmed and by these presents by force & virtue of the power & authority to them given do grant bargain sell alien enfeoff release and confirm unto the said George Michael Zettlemoyer & to his heirs & assigns All that certain messuage tenement & tract of land situate lying & being in the township of Windsor, Berks County aforesaid Bounded by lands of George Sonday John Seidel Daniel Hollenbach George Heinly & others Containing one hundred & twenty four acres or thereabouts be the same more or less. It being the same premises which George Sously dec’d died intestate and upon which on due application to the Orphans Court of Berks County an order was granted by the said Court whereupon the said premises were duly valued and appraised and by the said Court adjudged & confirmed unto George Sously Eldest son of the said George Sously dec’d To hold the same to the said George Sously & to his heirs and assigns forever as in & by an Exemplification of the records of said Court dated at Reading the 7th day of May A.D. 1806, and the said George Sously by his deed of assignment dated the 12th day of May A.D. 1806 for the consideration therein mentioned granted & confirmed unto the said George Adam Zettlemoyer in fee, And whereas the said George Adam Zettlemoyer died intestate (sic - was testate) made his last will & testament in writing bearing date the 27th day of March A. D. 1856 (should read 1836) wherein & whereby he authorized & directed his executors to make sale of his real estate as in & by said recited will since his decease duly proven & remaining in the Register’s office in Reading in & for Berks County relation thereto had more fully appear Together with all & singular the houses outhouses barns stables gardens orchards meadows fields fences ways wood waters watercourses rights liberties privileges hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions & remainders rents issues & profits thereof & also all the estate right title interest use trust property possession claim & demand whatsoever of him the said George Adam Zettlemoyer at & immediately before the time of his decease in law equity or otherwise howsoever of in to or out of the same. To have & to hold the said above described messuage tenement & tract of land Containing one hundred & twenty four acres more or less hereditaments & premised hereby granted & released or mentioned or intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the said George Michael Zettlemoyer his heirs & assigns, To the only proper use & behoof of him the said George Michael Zettlemoyer his heirs & assigns forever Subject to the payment of the arrearages of the principal & interest (if any) due to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for patenting the same. And the said Martin Zettlemoyer George Zettlemoyer Executors aforesaid for themselves their heirs Exrs & admr. do severally & not jointly nor one for the other or for the act or deed of the other but such of his own acts only covenant promise grant & agree to & with the said George Michael Zettlemoyer his heirs & assigns by these presents that the said Martin Zettlemoyer & George Zettlemoyer have not done committed or willingly or willingly suffered to be done or committed any act matter or thing whatsoever whereby the premises aforesaid or any part thereof is are shall or may be impeached charged or encumbered in title charge or estate otherwise howsoever. In witness whereof the said Martin Zettlemoyer & George Zettlemoyer to these presents have hereunto set their hands & seals Dated the day and year first above written.

Received the day of the date of the above written indenture of and from the above named George Michael Zettelmoyer the sum of one thousand seven hundred & thirty dollars in gold or silver money it being the consideration money mentioned in full.

Berks County ss. Be it remembered that on the 27th day of May A.D. before me Samuel Hoffman Esq. One of the justices of the Peace of the said County personally came the above named Martin Zettelmoyer & George Zettelmoyer executors as aforesaid & acknowledged the above indenture to be their act & deed & desired the same might be recorded as such accorsing to law. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day & year above written.

Comments: These were two of the sons of George Adam Zettelmeyer of Greenwich Township, son of the immigrant Jacob Zettelmeyer. George apparently was also named George Adam but he went by the name of George; his next younger brother was also named George Adam. George married Barbara Reinhart. The grantee was their older brother, George Michael, who lived in Windsor Township. George Adam Sr.’s eldest daughter, Maria Magdalena, married Johann Philip Sously by early 1800 or before; his father was George Sously. I suspect that the two George Souslys named in the deed were Philip’s father and grandfather.
