Saddlemire Family
I am indebted to Gerry Saddlemire for his contribution to this site. Gerry has researched this family for a number of years and supplied me with a GEDCOM of his results. He also maintains a Saddlemire Family site on the Internet.
This family descends from Hans Jurg Seidelmaier, as his name was listed in 1754 when he, his wife Margaretha and 15-year-old son Johannes arrived at Philadelphia. According to the record contained in Yoder, Pennsylvania German Immigrants 1709-1786, the family came from Altenriet, Württemberg, Germany. Altenriet is located about 15 miles south of Stuttgart.
Gerry researched LDS records and found that the church records for Altenriet disclose that on 28 Feb 1726 Hans Jorg Sedelmayer of Ditzingen, located just north of Stuttgart, married Anna Margaretha Laupp, who was born 8 Feb 1701/02 in Altenriet. Further, they had five children, only two of whom survived:
Kasarina, born 30 Jun 1726 and died 9 Feb 1727
Barbara, born 26 Sep 1727 and died 24 Mar 1730
Christian, born 11 Dec 1728 and died 23 Dec 1737
Johann Georg, born 14 Jan 1733
Johannes, born 2 Apr 1739
Also in this record, after the names of only Anna Margaretha and Johannes is found the notation "1754 nach Pennsylvanien" (1754 left for Pennsylvania).
The church records contain a problem for those of us some 250 years later who try to make sense of them. Did Johann Georg also emigrate with the family? He was old enough to have been listed on the ship's register but his name did not appear. If he was on the ship, then we have a particularly difficult time distinguishing him in Pennsylvania records from Jacob Zettelmeyer's eldest son Johann Georg, who was born 3 Sep 1735 and was listed along with his father on the register of the ship Neptune in 1751. The latter was born within 32 months of the former and they share the same name. But because the latter was listed on the ship's register and the former was not, I tend to believe that Johann Georg of Altenriet either died before emigration or he decided to remain in Germany.
From what we do know we can establish that Hans Jorg Sedelmayer and wife Anna Margaretha Laupp had five children:

Johannes Sedelmayer was born 2 Apr 1739 in Altenriet, Württemberg, Germany; he died in 1821 in Knox NY. About 1758, perhaps in Philadelphia PA, he married Ursula Bassler, who was born about 1740 in Germany and died 24 Jun 1838 in Newark Valley, NY. She is buried in the East Newark Cemetery. They had eight children:
