Hans,

I haven't been able to locate the birth, marriage, death and cemetery
books that had been at the Moline Public Library from the Blackhawk
Genealogy Society. I had been to the library several times and then
yesterday I talked to two librarians at the Southwest Branch of the
Moline Public Library...it's on top of the hill about 2 miles from the
main library...and found out the books were moved up to the Southwest
branch but then someone decided to box up the material and gave it to
the RICHS (Rock Island County Historical Society) around the first of
this year. The Moline librarian said it was very likely that RICHS
still had the material in boxes so I have to wait until either Thursday
or Friday to check out the availablitity of any books for Rock Island
County so I can find your missing relatives.

I had a wild snowfall here yesterday...and I hate wintertime driving!!!
While I was out doing a few errands, the storm came through here and I
thought I wasn't going to make it back home in one piece as the winds
were over 50 miles per hour and the roads were a mess because the snow
came in with a white out condition where driver's couldn't see anything.
I received some information on checking out Camden Mills, which was
around Milan, Rock Island County, Illinois but I need to check it out
with Judy at RICHS to make sure that the librarian was correct in his
thinking before I can research more on it. At least I know that Judy
(she's the director at RICHS) knows more on the history of Rock Island
Co than the Moline librarians, as she was raised here and loves to
research history!!!

I promise to get back to you with more information...you've been very
patient with me while I was trying to find the books...and I'm also
trying to find where Ambrose and wife were buried as they aren't at
the fourth cemetery in Moline, IL. I hunted there and did not find
their graves so I'm not sure where I should look next but will put
that on my list so I can check it out with Judy when I get into the
RICHS later this week or at the latest next Wednesday as they're only
open on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 5pm. I
have to drive up a long and steep hill to get out of my housing addition
and then drive into Moline, which is a 30 minute drive plus one more long
hill to make it to the building. I hate hills with snow and ice on them!!!
As soon as my son tells me that it's better road conditions, I'll make it
into Moline to do an all day research on Van Landschoot's to find all
that I can for you, I promise!!
