!AInfoNew* Elizabeth was the daughter of George Douglas, Earl of Angus. (Marmion(sic) by Sir Walter Scott.) She was a granddaughter of Robert III, King of Scotland, her ancestry running back through 20 generations through Robert Bruce, famous for perseverance after watching the seven efforts of a spider. Other ancestors of Elizabeth included King Duncan I, killed by Macbeth, King Alfred the Great, and the first Kings of both England and Scotland.2,3

Marriage* October 1423 Elizabeth Mary Douglas married Alexander Forbes , 1st Baron Fo(r)bes, son of John Forbes of the Black Lip and Margaret Elizabeth of Dunmore Kennedy, October 1423 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Tompsett gives this marriage but no children. The clan page gives the date of 1421. This seems a bit late. Other resources give a date of Oct 1423. So there is NO agreement as to when this marriage occurred.3,5,6,7
