Researching the family of

Nicholas Hartman born in 1854 in France and his wife
Marguerita Guntert born 13 May 1855 in Germany

According to the 1900 census, both of Nicholas' parents were
from France. And he had been married for 22 years in 1900. The 1900 census says
Nicholas Hartmann immigrated to the United States in 1883. I have not yet found
him on a ship's list, however.

There is a listing on a ships list of a
Margarita Hartmann, age 30, accompanied by two children, arriving
in New York 11 September 1884, departed Le Havre, France on the
ship, Labrador.

According to the 1900 census, Margarita's father was from Germany,
mother fro Switzerland. The census also says, she had
12 children, six living.

The family settled in North Andover, Massachusetts.
