History & Gazetteer  1856 for Aunsby

  1. AUNSBY is a small village, situated 5 miles S S W of Sleaford and it's parish contains133 souls, and 1183 acres, including part of Aswarby park, and one of the Crofton farms.   Sir T Whichcote owns about 360 acres and John Archer Houblon Esq about 760 acres.   The church [St Thomas a Becket] a neat structure in the early english style, with a tower crowned by a spire.  The rectory, valued in K.B. at £3-8s-9d and now having 12 acres of glebe, and a yearly rent charge of £251, awarded in 1838 in lieu of tithes, is in the gift of J A Houblon Esq, and incumbency of the Rev Octavius Luard of Blyborough, for whom the Rev Henry Manton of Sleaford, officiates.  The glebe is 14 acres and the tithes were commuted about 1840 for a yearly corn rent.

Whites's Directory 1872 for Aunsby

  1. AUNSBY is a small village, situated 5 miles S S W of Sleaford and it's parish contains139 souls, and 1183 acres, including part of Aswarby park, and one of the Crofton farms.  Sir T Whichcote owns about 360 acres and John Archer Houblon Esq about 760 acres.  The church [St Thomas a Becket] consisiting of a nave, aisles, chancel, south porch and a tower and spire with three bells, is a beautiful edifice, the greater part of which, being in a decayed state, was taken down and rebuilt in 1860 at an expense of about £1000.  The rectory, valued in K.B. at £3-8s-9d and now having 12 acres of glebe, and a yearly rent charge of £251, awarded in 1838 in lieu of tithes, is in the gift of J A Houblon Esq, and incumbency of the Rev octavius Luard, who has a good rectory house, built in 1857
