It saddens us to report that we have lost the physical presence of our Centurion, who passed away this past Wednesday 29th of September 2004.Dee Hedgpeth drifted off in his sleep early Wednesday morning, at the age of 107 yrs. 6 mos. and 3 days at his home in Prospect, Oregon ... He was a son of Caloway M. Hedgpeth and Eliza May (Brown) born 26 March 1897 at Dixonville, Oregon near Roseburg. He had been married to Hope V. (Nye) on 31 July 1937 at Roseburg, Oregon, and the couple had celebrated 61 years of marriage before Hope passed away 30 Nov. 1998 at the age of 99 yrs. The couple had one son, that survives them ...
Dee came to Prospect in the early 1930's and worked as a timber faller. He did farming up until he was 97 years old.
He is survived by his son, Robin D. Hedgpeth of Prospect; two grandsons, Randal Hedgpeth of Prospect and Jerry Hedgpeth of Medford; and four great granddaughters, Sharla of Okinawa, Miranda and Halee both of Prospect, and Audrey of Medford.
Graveside services will be at a later date.

note from the web site editor: Although I didn't really personally get to know Dee, I did have the distinct honor and pleasure of getting to meet him on my recent trip of July 2004. Though it was a short visit, I consider it to be one of the most memorable highlights of my trip. As I look back on that visit, I know I wasn't as talkative as I would have like, to have been, asking all sorts of questions and what not :/ Thinking it might have been the shear excitement of getting to meet and see someone so alert, living and tangible from the past ... I found him to be a very cheerful, warm and friendly gentleman. At his advanced age he appeared to be very aware of his surroundings, along with being knowledgeable of past and current events. I will always remember, and cherish that visit :)
I am sure the extended family of many distant cousin's here, join with me in sending our condolences and prayer's to Robin and JoAnn, and their family ...
