Ida M. Neldner, 97, of Lexington House Health Care and of Lexington, died at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday 11-1-1994 at the care home. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Musselman-Beck Funeral Home, Lexington, the Rev. Bruce LaKamp officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Anchor. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m - time of the service Friday at the funeral home. She was born 2-20-1897 at Anchor, a daughter of August C. and Anna F. Wichman Schleeter. She married Reinhard William Neldner 12-2-1919 at Bloomington. He died 7-30-1976. Surivors include two daughters, Lyla M. Phillips, Mesa, AZ and Marilyn J. Beauchamp, Sherman; two sons, Randall H. Neldner, Knoxville and Louis R. Neldner, Lexington; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. A homemaker, Mrs. Neldner was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lexington. She was a former active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Anchor where she played the organ. She was also a member of the Anchor Legion Auxiliary, Farm Bureau and Home Extension. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, or Lexington House Health Care.

Margaret Alberta Osborne, 75, of Leasburg, Mo. died Sunday 12-17-2000 at Rolla, Mo. A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Anchor. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. today at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo., and 2 - 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. She was born 9-7-1925 in Sibley, a daughter of John H. and Marie Kathryn Wickman Suntken. Survivors include one son, Chester "Sonny" (Mary) Osborne, Leasburg; one brother, Ernest Suntken; and six grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death.
PAINTER, Linden Irving
Linden Painter, 87 of rural Anchor, died at 9:03 p.m. Monday 9-13-1999 at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Robert Ferro officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, and for one hour before the service Friday at the church. Mr. Painter was born 9-25-1911 at Foosland, a son of Arthur and Nora Dalburg Painter. He married Florence Beecher on 3-24-1940 at Anchor. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Lynette (Dr. Dennis) Messamore, Decatur; and Mary (Brent) Bohlen, Springfield; and one brother, Don Painter, Jacksonville. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; two step-great-granddaughters; four nieces; and five nephews. One daughter, ` Lynne; two brothers; and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Painter was a 1929 graduate of Fisher High School. He was a lifetime farmer. He farmed in the Foosland area, where he was also a rural mail carrier. In 1941, he began farming in the Anchor area. Following his retirement, he continued to take an active role in the operation of his farm at Anchor. He was a devoted Christian and an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. He was a member of the Brotherhood and served as trustee for the Church Cemetery for 14 years. He served on the Octavia Unit District school board for nine years, the last three as president. He was a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau. Linden was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather.

Born Jan. 15, 1910, in Glasgow, Ky., to Samuel and Pearl Hargrove Peden, he married F. Evelyn Beasley on March 14, 1931, in Hammond, Ind. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Roger of Morton; one brother, Edward of Paxton; two sisters, Gola Garrett of Colfax and Earline Sweeney of Bloomington; three stepgrandchildren; eight step great- grandchildren; and two step great-great- grandchildren. He worked in management at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. for 39 years, retiring in January 1972. He was a former director of the Redbrand Credit Union of Keystone. He served on the Bartonville PoliceCommission for many years. He was a member of Bartonville United Methodist Church. Private graveside services will be Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Alan Newhall will officiate. There will be no visitation. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Bartonville Fire and Rescue Squad.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Beck Memorial Home, the Rev. Kenneth Zinn officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the memorial home, Tuesday. She was born 2-24-1912 in Lynn County, Mo., a daughter of Scott and Dora Spencer Brown. She married William Pedigo on 6-13-1937 in Kansas City, Mo. He died 9-6-1976. Survivors include one son, Joseph, Normal; one daughter, Jane Huskisson, Bloomington; two brothers, Frank Brown, Brookfield, Mo., and Thomas, Riverton; two sisters, Effie McCurdy, Bakersfield Ca., and Iva Brant, Ca.; seven grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Pantagraph, Jan. or Feb. 1949, Bloomington, IL Elmer Phillips Reported Dead In German Camp Mrs. Geraldine Phillips, 312 East Mulberry Street, has received word from the War Department, stating that her husband, Sgt. Elmer D. Phillips, died from wounds received Jan. 19, in Action one month after he was captured and placed in a German prison camp. Sgt. Phillips was born Feb. 24, 1913, in Bloomington, the son of Milton and Ruth (Ferguson) Phillips. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1931. He married Geraldine Tuggle of Normal on June 27, 1934, in Bloomington. They have always made their home in Bloomington except for periods when Sgt. Phillips was employed in Detroit, Mich. His parents reside at 214 1/2 West Jefferson Street. Sgt. Phillips enlisted in June 1942, and completed his radio work at Fort Know, Ky. He had been overseas since Sep. 1, 1944. Surviving are his wife; one son, Jimmie; parents; brother, Carroll Phillips, 1410 South East Street.
PHILLIPS, Elsie (Hall)
LeRoy Journal Friday June 16, 1911 Death of Mrs. Elmer Phillips Mrs. Elmer Phillips, who was Miss Elsie Hall, was born in LeRoy, IL. May 28, 1886, and was the fourth child of Mr. and Mrs. John Hall, who are now living in Fisher, IL. She departed this life very quietly last Mon. Evening (June 12, 1911), from internal injuries. At six years of age she entered school at Farmer City and after her parents moved to LeRoy she continued her studies in the LeRoy School through the eighth grade when circumstances compelled her to remain at home. She always ranked high in her class and was well loved by all her school mates. She was married to Mr. Elmer Phillips of Downs at Bloomington on July 12, 1905, and to them were born a family of four children: Evert Gale, six years old; Rowena M., four years old; and Alva Kyle, seven months old. One daughter, Eva Wanetta, died at the age of fourteen months last August and was laid away in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Saturday, June 12, she and her children were on their way to visit her parents at Fisher, when at Laurette, while some switching was being done, she attempted to give her baby a drink. At the same time a car was kicked against the coach, jarring the little one out of her arms and throwing her over a stool, which is used as an extra step for the coach when stopping at a station. At that time she received internal injuries which has resulted in her death Monday evening. She suffered severely for several days, but bore it all patiently and without complaint. At intervals she was semi-conscious and continued to grow worse until the end came. About two hours before she died, she became conscious long enough to bid farewell to those at her bedside and also to request her parents to care for her children. Very quietly she breathed her last. She was a faithful Sunday School Scholar and dedicated her life to God during a revival at Downs in the U.B. Church about five years ago. Beside her husband, and three children, she leaves to mourn, two brothers, Harry and Oscar; one sister, Mrs. Ida Forrest, of Glenavon; also four aunts and two uncles. She was well known by nearly everyone and it is only too true that to know her was to love her. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Mr. Harris of Bloomington, and the interment took place at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Phillips, 82, of Pekin, formerly of LeRoy, a retired beautician and cafe owner, died at 1 p.m. Monday (Jan. 21, 1991) at Pekin Memorial Hospital, Pekin. She was cremated. A memorial service will be scheduled at J.T. and E.J. Crumbaugh Spiritualist Church, LeRoy, the Rev. Brian McCotter oficiating. Woolsey Funeral Home, Pekin, has charge of arrangements. Mrs. Phillips was born March 21, 1908, in Fulton County, a daughter of B. Frank and Lucretia Williams Lee. She married F. Marion Phillips. He died in April 1981. Survivors include one daughter, Melba Rowan, Green Valley; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Three brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Phillips and her husband had owned and operated the Le-Cafe in LeRoy during the 1940's and early 1950's . Later, she was a beautician with a shop in her home. She retired in 1979. She was a member of the J.T. and E.J. Crumbaugh Spiritualist Church. Memorials may be made to her church or the the American Heart Association.

Washington St., a McLean County Sheriff's Deputy was dead on arrival at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 12, 1965) at Brokaw Hospital. Coroner Curtis Gilberts said that Deputy Phillips apparently suffered a heart attack at his home. Mr. Phillips was appointed deputy by Sheriff Ralph Skidmore on Oct. 24, 1963. Recently he was assigned to the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. patrol duty. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Metzler Memorial Home witht he Rev. Charles Schneider and the Rev. Mr. James T. Phillips James Thompson Phillips, resident of McLean County for more than half a century, died at 4:45 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Adolph Roggy, 1105 E. Oakland Avenue, Bloomington, Illinois, after a lingering illness from heart disease. Mr. Phillips was born Feb. 23, 1851 in Pennsylvania and moved with his parents to Illinois when he was a young man. He was married to Martha Jane Killion March 12,1874 in LeRoy, Illlinois. She died twelve years ago (March 26, 1916). To them were born six children: Mrs. Adolph Roggy, James M. Phillips, 1602 S. Main St., Bloomington, Illinois. John W. Phillips and Charles L. Phillips of Downs, Illinois, Mrs. Ross French of Corydon, Iowa and Edward O. Phillips who died Feb. 18, 1923 after serving overseas with the American Army during the World War 1. There 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: L. Phillips of Los Angeles, Ca., Gideon, Jerry and Dave Phillips of McLean, Kansas, Mrs. Emma McGinn of Webster Grove, Missouri, Mrs. H.E. Wilkonson of Cincinnatti, Ohio. Three brothers and sisters are dead. He was a member of he United Brethren from early manhood. Services will be held from the Second United Brethren Church, Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. L.A. Whitesell, Pastor, will be officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

Daily Pantagraph, March 27, 1916, Bloomington, Illinois Mrs. James T. Phillips, who was stricken with paralysis on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. died at her home at 605 S. Hannah St. Bloomington, Il. at 3:15 a.m., Sunday. Martha Jane (Killion) was born in Brazil,Clay County, Indiana, Oct. 14, 1852 and came to McLean County with her parents in 1865 and located on a farm 2 and 1/2 miles southeast of Downs. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias T. Killion. She was united in marriage to James T. Phillips, at LeRoy, Illinois, March 12, 1874, to this union were born six children, all of whom survive. Mrs. Adolph Roggy,James M. Phillips of near Six Points Road Mrs. Ross French of 112 Packard Street, Bloomington, Charles L. and Edward O. Phillips living at home. She also leaves her husband, 1 sister, Mrs. Eliza Gray of Funks Grove, IL. and 4 brothers, David E. Killion of 703 E. Olive Street, Bloomington, Illinois, Enis Killion at Butler County, Kansas, Issac Killion who resides near Empire Township,( LeRoy,) and Jesse Killion of LeRoy. Her father and mother and several brothers and sisters have preceded her in death. Mrs. Phillips united with the United Brethren Church in 1870. She was a Devoted Christian wife and mother and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to her friends and family. Although she has been in ill health the last three years she was able to about her household duties until within a few hours of her death. The news at which came as a shock to family and friends.

Friends may call at the funeral after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Phillips was born Nov. 5, 1885, in Downs, a son of Solomon and Sarah (Teter) Phillips. He was a Bloomington barber more than 40 years. Surviving are a son; Carroll, 1410 S. East St., Bloomington; three brothers, William T., LeRoy; James, Shaw, S.C.,; Elmer, 606 S. Clinton St., Bloomington; two sisters, Mrs William Crowder, Sunnyside Ct., Bloomington; Mrs. Lillian Honnor, with whom he lived, Downs; tow granddaughters and a grandson. A son, a sister and a brother preceded him in death.

She was born July 15, 1895, at LeRoy, a daughter of Gould and Adeline DIckerson Reynolds. She married Percy Phillips, Dec. 24, 1919, at Bloomington. Surviving is her husband, tow brothers, Toney and Dody Reynolds, both of LeRoy; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. She was a past worthy matron of Empire Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and past president of the Womens Relief Corps and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Visitation continues today at the funeral home. She was born April 28, 1901, at LeRoy, a daughter of Gould and Adeline Dickerson Reynolds. She was married to Lyle Phillips Jan. 23, 1924, at Bloomington. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Billie Mane Kemmer, Melvin; a sister, Mrs. Percy Phillips, LeRoy; three brothers, Cody and Toney Reynolds, both of LeRoy, and Clinton Reynolds of 610 E. Locust, Bloomington; and four grandchildren. SHe was a member of the Crumbaugh Spiritualist Church. She was a past matron of Empire Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She lived in LeRoy all her life.

Pantagraph Feb. 12, 1921 Bloomington, IL McLean County Phillip Phillips Dead at 65 years Phillip Phillips died at 1:15 Friday afternoon at his home at 101 West Monroe Street after an Illness of nine weeks. He was born June 7, 1855, at Magnolia. He was married, April 29, 1993 to Miss Mable F. Williams at Melvin. Mr. Phillips came to Bloomington in 1902. His early life was spent in farming, but in recent years he has been engaged in the real estate business. He is suvived by his wife and one daughter, who sis a school teacher in the public schools at Beauland, Ohio. He was an attendant at the Christian Church. The funeral will be held at the home Sunday afternoon and the body will be taken to LeRoy Monday morning for interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips was former owner of The Bloomington Hotel, 313 N. Center St. It is now known as the Mar-Len Hotel. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Beck Memorial Home, with the Rev. Samuel Buck officiatin. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Phillips was born March 19, 1892, in Louis County, Ky., a daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Melvine Mason Ferguson. She married Milton "Smokey" Phillips. He died in 1952. Survivors include a sister, Nellie Hill, 20 Harwood Place; a grandson; tow grandaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Pantagraph April 10, 1933 Bloomington, IL AGED LEROY WOMAN DIES Illness Fatal To Pioneer McLean County Settler LEROY - Mrs. Sarah E. Phillips, 88, a pioneer settler of McLean County, died at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon (April 9, 1933) at the home of her daughter. Mrs. John Wahls, where she had made her home for the last five years. She had been ill seven weeks. Mrs. Phillips was one of 10 children born to Laban and Sarah Teter in Virginia, June 13, 1844. When six years old she came to Illinois in a covered wagon with her parents. The family settled near Downs. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Wide-Awake company and rode horseback during the rallies of the Lincoln Campaign for Predident. She was married to Solomon Phillips of LeRoy Oct. 12, 1865. He preceded her in death19 years ago. Mrs. Phillips was the mother of 10 children, the following of whom survive: Laban T., James G. and Milton C., Mrs Nettie Arbogast, all of Bloomington; Elmer, Heyworth; Mrs. Lilly Honnor, Downs; William T., and Mrs. Irene Wahls, both of LeRoy. A sister, Miss Sina Teter of Downs and brother, R.D. Teter of Salem Ore. also survive. Mrs. Phillips was the oldest member of the Downs Methodist Episcopal Church. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Downs Church. The Rev. L.D. Sipes of Diamond Grove, will officiate, and burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Downs.

Pantagraph, May 18, 1914, Bloomington, IL (Death May 15, 1914) The funeral of Solomon Phillips of 607 W. Moulton St. was held at the M.E. Church in Downs Sunday afternoon. The Rev. H.N. Alkire of the Park Methodist Church in Bloomington officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Mr. Pence of Downs. The William T. Sherman Post G.A.R. had charge of the cetrmonies at the grave. Intement was in the Hopewell Cemetery, Downs. The deceased was born in Greene County, PA. March 5, 1840. He enlisted for service in the Civil War in 1862 and at the close of the war came to Illinois and located near Downs where he lived until about four years ago. He was married in 1865 to Miss Sarah A Teter of Downs. He leaves to mourn his death the widow and eight children, as follows: Laban Phillips and Mrs. George Honnor of Downs; Mrs. John Wahls, Mrs. John Evans and William Phillips of LeRoy; Elmer and Milton Phillips of Bloomington and James Phillips of Spring Lake. He also leaves four brothers and four sisters and twenty-five grandchildren. He was a member of the Downs M.E. Church and also of the W.T. Sherman Post, G.A.R. of Bloomington.

The Rev. Monsignor Maloney and the Rev. Carl LoPresti will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Merna. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today. He died at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at his home. Memorials may be made to BroMenn Hospice or American Cancer Society. Mr. Phillips was born Nov. 5, 1953, at Decatur, a son of Gale and ALice Milan Phillips. He married Joan M. Vaughan on July 27, 1985, at Chenoa. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Katie A. Phillips and Christine J. Phillips, both at home; and two sisters, Linda Burleson and Laura Owens, both of Bloomington. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Phillips worked in the maintenance department for First of America in Bloomington before becoming a truck driver for Carter Distribution of Heyworth. He enjoyed vacationing and fishing with his family and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal. He was a loving husband, father and friend and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Pantagraph, July 9, 1921, Bloomington, IL William Phillips, of LeRoy, Died Saturday William Edgar Phillips, died Saturday (July 8, 1901) at noon at his home in LeRoy. It will be remembered that Mr. Phillips was taken suddenly ill about two weeks ago while at his work. Mr. Phillips was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Phillips and was born on a farm near LeRoy on November 13, 1878. He lived in LeRoy practically all of his life and it was there he received his education. He was graduated from the LeRoy High School in the class of 1898. He was united in marriage January 22, 1902 to Lyda Buckles, who with two children survives, Irene, wife of Raymond Wartena, and Arthur, at home. His parents and following broghers also Survive; C.R., D.D. and C.V. of Gibson City. Mr. Phillips has been connected with the Illinois Central railroad for the past twenty-two years, being station agent at Armstrong for three years, the past nineteen years having worked as express messenger on the LeRoy-West Lebanon Branch. He was a member of the Christian Church and of the K. of P. Lodge. Funeral services will be held from this church in LeRoy this (Monday) afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. R.D. Brown, of this city; in charge of the services, in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. T.B. Lugg, pastor of the LeRoy M.E. Church, interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Roy Quinn, 74, retired Gibson City area farmer, was found hanging in the basement of his home in Gibson City by his wife at 4:40 p.m. Monday 5-19-1975 authorities said. Ford Co. Coroner R.L. Hayslette said he had been despondent because of ill health. An inquest will be scheduled, he said. The funeral was to have been at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, near Anchor, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation was to be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday and at the church after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was born 8-19-1900 at Charleston, a son of Henry and Emma Burro Quinn. He married Melba Beecher 11-4-1933 at Covington, Ind. Surviving are his wife; a son, Charles, Streator; a daughter, Judy Glascock, Sibley; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jess Fravala, Detroit, Mich. He had been a resident of the Gibson City area for more than 30 years and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the McLean County Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Pallbearers were Linden Painter, Donald Means, George Anderson, Elza Powell, Aaron Hoffman and John Hester, Sr.

Kibler - Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Rausch died at 11:32 p.m Thursday 11-22-1990 at Martin Health Center, Bloomington. She was born 7-24-1904 at Anchor, a daughter of Rev. Andrew and Ida P. Grey Hahn. She married Edmund O. Rausch 6-6-1935 in Chicago. He died 11-25-1982. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Gorski, Glen Ellyn; three sisters, Pauline Kegerreis, Ames Iowa; Leola Ferdinand, Lake View, Colo.; and Marie Hansen, Normal, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Rausch, a graduate of the U. of Chicago, was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington. She volunteered for many Lutheran women's organizations and was a contributing author for various religious publications. She taught at Proviso High School, Maywood; did public relations work for the Lutheran Home for Children and the American Institute of Laundering; served as an administrator for the Salem Home for the Aged in Joliet; and was a social worker at Kankakee State Hospital.
RAUSCH, Edmund O.
Edmund O. Rausch, 81, Kankakee, former superintendent of the Dept of Children and Family Service, Kankakee district, died 11-25-1982 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee, after a seven-month illness. His funeral was Monday morning in Kankakee, with a graveside service at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Anchor. Mr. Rausch was born 1-11-1901 in Marine City, Mich., a son of the Rev. and Mrs. Emil H. Rausch. He married Alice J. Hahn, formerly of Anchor, 6-6-1935 in Chicago. She survives.

Born March 31, 1917, in Colfax to Roy and Cora Waugh Dillinder, she married William J. Rawls on May 2, 1936, in Dahlgren. He died Feb. 12, 1975, in Peoria. Surviving are two sons, David of Fresno, Calif., and Steven of Peoria; one sister, Ruby Anstay of Oconomowoc, Wis.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was a laboratory technician at Northern Research Agriculture Laboratory for more than 20 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Peoria. She also was a member of American Association for Retired Persons and Byerly Organ Club. Private services will be Tuesday at Wilton Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to her church.
REYNOLDS, Raymond
Raymond L. Reynolds, age 60 of Concord, CA, died 11-20-1993 at Creekside Care Center in San Pablo following a brief illness. He was born 5-5-1933 in Bloomington, the son of Rubio and Virginia Lewis Reynolds. His parents and a brother preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Gibson City High School and was employed as a data processing supervisor at the San Francisco Bulk Mail Center for 35 years retiring in 1986. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the VFW and the Valley Christian Church in Cocnord. He married Yumi Annaka in Tokyo Japan in 1964 and she survives along with a son, Jun in Tokyo and a sister, Cathy Haage of Havana, Illinois. Graveside services were held at Concord Memory Gardens on November 29.

His funeral was at 11 a.m. December 28 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Normal, with Pastor Jeffery Hendricks officiating. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Anchor. Visitation was from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Otto-Argo Funeral Home in Danvers was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Community Cancer Center, Pediatric Oncolgist Unit at St. John's Hospital or OSF Hospice. Mr. Riddle was born 10-13-1932 at Clinton, a son of Simon and Ruth Sanders Doman Riddle. He married Janice Clausen on 6-19-1955 at Anchor and she survives. Also surviving are four sons, Scott (Eileen) Riddle of Bloomington; David (Julie) Riddle of Bloomington; Chris (Diane) Riddle of Bloomington and Todd (Penny) Riddle of Gridley; three sisters, Lorene Sherman of Gunnison, Colorado; Ruth Ann Williams and Beverly Jane Nelson, both of Gibson City; one brother, Glenn Riddle of Gibson City and 12 grandchildren. Mr. Riddle had retired from plumbing. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 45 of Bloomington Scottish Rite Temple of Bloomington and Tin Lizzies of Bloomington. Mr. Riddle graduated from Paxton High School and served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.

She was born 7-1-1922 at Anchor, a daughter of Edward and Hedwig Hundt Riecks. Survivors include one sister, Irma Mueller, Westminster, Calif. One brother, and five sisters preceded her in death. Miss Riecks enjoyed bowling and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, and Trinity Lutheran Church in San Angelo. She worked for General Telephone Co. in San Angelo for 15 years. Fred A. "Toby" Riecks, 84, died at 9:05 a.m. Friday 6-2-1978, at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. He was a resident of Octavia Manor, Colfax. He was formerly of Anchor. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Colfax Home for Funerals, and noon to time of service at the church. He was born 7-2-1893, at Anchor, a son of Edward and Elise George Riecks. He married Emma Friday on 4-25-1917 at Anchor. She died 8-15-1969. Surviving are two sons, Lyle and Eugene, both of Anchor; a daughter, Irene Kennedy, Cooksville; four sisters, Marie Bielfeldt, Anchor; Anne Marrin, Lillian Larson and Gertrude Vail, all of Bloomington; two half- sisters, Erma Mueller, Westminister, Ca.; and Rita Riecks, San Angelo, TX; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Three brothers and a half-sister preceded him in death. He was a former Anchor businesman, retiring in 1960. He had a garage and grocery store. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and memorials may be made to the church.

Joyce J. Riecks, 63, Anchor, died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday 8-10-1985 at the Gibson City Hospital Annex. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 9 p.m. today at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, and one hour before the service at the church. She was born 6-12-1922 in Bloomington, a daughter of Ralph F. and Gladys Ward Jacobs. She married Lyle E. Riecks 10-17-1948 at Bloomington. He survives. Also surviving are one son, Steven L. of Ottawa; one brother, Gerald L. of Normal; and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a brother. She was a member of the Anchor St. John's Lutheran Church, and the church Dorcas Society. Mrs. Riecks lived in Anchor during her married life and was employed for the last 15 years at M&W Gear Co., Gibson City. She was a veteran of the Women's Army Medical Corps during WWII. Pallbearers included Mark Riecks, David Riecks, Craig Riecks, Greg Wright, Douglas Wright, David Stein, and Dennis Stein. Mr. Riecks died at 1:59 p.m. Wednesday 10-13-1993 at Heritage Manor in Gibson City. He was born 9-13-1902 in rural Anchor, a son of Fred and Lena Bielfeldt Riecks. He married Velna Hall on 9-10-1947 in Anchor and she survives. Other survivors include one son, Kenneth of Loda; four daughters, Vauna Jones of Gibson City; Roberta Stein of Peoria; Shirley Wright of Lake St. Louis, MO.; and Karolyn Riecks of Prospect Hts; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Eddie of Gibson City; and two sisters, Minnie McClure and Lena Brucker, both of Sibley. One brother preceded him in death. Mr. Riecks was a resident of Anchor/Saybrook areas, retiring from farming in 1955. He was a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Men's Brotherhood of the church and was a church trustee for several years.

Velna E. Riecks, age 85 of Saybrook, died Monday 12-11-2000 at Alden Nursing Home in Des Plaines. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Anchor, with the Reverend Robert Ferro officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 p.m. at the church on December 14. Pallbearers will include Mark Riecks, David Riecks, Craig Riecks, Dennis Stein, Greg Wright, Douglas Wright and David Stein. Mrs. Riecks was born 4-12-1915 at Rich Hills, Missouri, a daughter of Homer H. and Lizzie Hafer Hall. She married Fred "William" Riecks on 9-10-1947 at Anchor. He died 10-13-1993. Survivors include one daughter, Karolyn (Wayne Estes) Riecks of Mundelein; one step-son , Kenneth Riecks of Loda; three step-daughters, Vauna Jones of Gibson City, Roberta Stein of Peoria and Shirley Wright of Coral Ville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Everett Hall of Bloomington, Marvin Hall of Tucson, AZ, Marion Hall of Normal and Normal (?) Hall of Cortez, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Riecks was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Anchor, where she served as organist for 45 years. She was also a member of the Dorcas Society of the Church. Mrs. Riecks lived in the Saybrook and Anchor areas for most of her life. Memorials may be made to her church.

Ben W. Robbins Dies; Had Been Ill Several Years - Ben W. Robbins, 77, died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday of last week in Nel-Dor Arms Nursing home, Bloomington after an extended illness of several years' duration. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Harry R. Evans in Bruce Memorial home. Mrs. Robert Burns was soloist. Mrs. Effie Huddlestone was organist. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
Mr. Robbins, a son of Thomas and Lucinda Dickey Robbins, was born Aug. 26, 1883 at Wayne City. He married Pearl Sanders Dec. 24, 1903 at Wayne City. They were engaged in farming for 40 years in the South Downs area and lived in LeRoy for most of the last decade. He was active in community affairs and served as a school director while living in South Downs area. He was a member of the First Methodist church here.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Clifford of Wapella and Kenneth; a daughter, Mrs. E. G. Dean; a sister, Mrs. Frank Chapman of Akron, O.; two brothers, Clacy of Hot Springs, Ark. and Hugh of Springfield; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers were Donald Dean, Dale Dean, Kenneth Robbins, Larry Robbins, Rader Scott Jr. and Ed McManus Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Staley, B. C. Bolton, Bert Matlock, Duane Haas, Richard Donovan and Ed McManus Sr.

LeRoy Journal, Sept. 12, 1924 - TWIN SON OF MR. AND MRS. VERNIE ROBBINS DIES - Bobby Robbins, one of the twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Robbins, was born May 28, 1924, and departed this life September 4th at the age of three months and six days. Altho Bobby's life was short he will be greatly missed in the home. Besides his parents he leaves the following brothers and sisters: Cecil, Wanda, Eunice, Thomas and Billy.

Mrs. Bonnie Robbins, 70, died December 2 at 2:15 a.m. in St. Joseph Hospital, Bloomington. Services were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Stensel's Funeral Home. Rev. Daryl Winters officiated. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia.
She was born December 12, 1893 in Fayette County the daughter of William and Laura Mills Nichols. She was married to Fred Wasser. She was married the second time to Jess Robbins. He died in 1946.
Mrs. Robbins is survived by a step-sister, Mrs. Daisy Cocagne, and a half brother, Edward Crowder, both of Vandalia.
Pallbearers were Donald Sexton, John H. Winston, Robert Oliver, William Mullins, Arthur and Clarence Bailey.
Mrs. William Huddlestone was organist and Mrs. Robert Burns was soloist.
She was a member of the J. T. and E. J. Crumbaugh Spiritualist Church. Since her husbands death she had been the operator of Bonnie's Tavern.

Last rites for Jess Robbins, LeRoy grocer and meat market proprietor, were held at the First Methodist church Thursday afternoon. Business places throughout the city closed from 2 to 3 o'clock in respect to the departed merchant.
The Rev. A. M. Willet, former LeRoy pastor now of Gibson City, officiated at the service. He was assisted by the Rev. O. E. Martin. Mrs. Robert Burns sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Effie Huddlestone. Mrs. Wayne Weber presided at the organ.
Mr. Robbins died at 5:25 p. m. Saturday following an illness of about seven months. He was born in Wayne County on Oct. 15, 1893, son of Thomas and Lucinda Dickey Robbins. His first wife, Serepta Brewer, died eight years ago. They had five children, four of whom survive.
On Sept. 12, 1944 he married Bonnie Wasser at Vandalia. She survives.
Also surviving are the following sons and a daughter, Ernest R. Robbins of the U. S. army, Howard J. Robbins of the marine corps, Marvin R. Robbins of the navy, and Miss Helen Robbins, student at Illinois State Normal university; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Robbins, Clifford Robbins, Clyde Robbins, Cecil Robbins, James Robbins, Robert Brewer and Everett Robbins.
Women who assisted with the flowers were Mrs. Roy Bryan, Miss Janice Robbins, Mrs. Clifford Robbins, Mrs. Kenneth Robbins, Mrs. James Robbins and Mrs. Robert Brewer.
Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.

LeRoy Journal 22 Dec 1939 - Mrs. L. V. Robbins, 82, mother of B. W. and Jesse Robbins of here, died at 10:30 Sunday night at the home of her son, Clacy, at Fairfield, with whom she had lived the past year. Her death was due to a complication of diseases due to her age.
Mrs. Robbins, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. T. W. Dickey, was born in Wayne county, and lived most of her life in Southern Illinois, but the last ten or twelve years she had lived with her children here. Her father was a well known Baptist minister and she was a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. Frank Chapman, of Akron, Ohio, and five sons, Walter, of Hannibal, Mo.; Hugh, of Mode; Clacy, of Fairfield; Jesse and B. W. of LeRoy. Also 40 grand-children and a number of great-grandchildren.
A sister, Mrs. Mary Richards of Carbondale, is the only one left of her family.

LeRoy Journal, Aug. 26, 1921 - DEATH OF LITTLE SON - Paul J. Robbins, youngest child of Verne and Edith Robbins was born November 14, 1919, and passed away at his home southeast of LeRoy, Monday evening at nine o'clock August 22, 1921, after an illness of one week. Beside his parents he leaves two sisters and two brothers, Cecil, Wanda, Eunice and Thomas; also his two grand mothers and several aunts and uncles.
Little Paul was of a lovable nature and endeared himself to all who knew him.
The pall bearers were: Lyle Walden, Carl Maxwell, Howard Bolton, Edward Casey. Flower bearers Kenneth Cope and Coland Casey. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.
There was an angel band in Heaven,
That was not quite complete.
So God took our darling Paul,
To fill that vacant seat.
The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the M. E. Church, with Rev. L??? in charge. The interment was made at Oak Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Pearl Robbins, 78, died at 12:15 p.m. Monday at her home.
Last rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church, the Rev. Clarence Young officiating. Mrs. Eva Burns was soloist and Steve Dean was organist. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 19, 1886. at Wayne City, the daughter of M. L. and Margaret Scrivner Sanders. She was married to Ben. W. Robbins, Dec 24, 1903, at Fairfield. He died in 1961.
Surviving are two sons, Clifford, Wapella; Kenneth, LeRoy; a daughter, Mrs. E. G. Dean, LeRoy; five half-brothers, Ray, Earnest, Earl, Harold, all of Wayne City, and Wilfred Sanders, Onargo; a half-sister, Mrs. Lillian Crenshaw, Wayne City; ?????? grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. A sister, a brother and a half-brother preceded her in death.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church; the LeRoy Mother's Club and the Home Bureau. She had lived in LeRoy since 1953, moving here with her husband then after farming in the South Down community for 40 years.
Pallbearers were Dale Dean, Kenneth Robbins, Larry Robbins, Lynn Curtis and Edward McManus.
ROBBINS, Pearl Whitson
LeRoy Journal, Jan. 10, 1919 - MRS. HUGH ROBBINS DIES AT HER HOME NEAR LEROY - Mrs. Hugh Robbins died at the home of her brother-in-law, William Robbins, southwest of LeRoy, about 8:15 last Sunday morning, following an illness of nine days caused by influenza, which later developed into double pneumonia. Her maiden name was Pearl Whitson. She was the daughter of James and Clara Whitson, and was born May 4, 1894, at Sims, in this state. In 1912 she was married to Hugh Robbins and to this union two sons were born, Delbert and James, who survive her with the father. She also leaves four brothers, Frank and Fred at home, Harry with the American expeditionary force, and Charles at Kankakee. Two sisters, Mary at home and Mrs. Charles Nevile, of Carlyle, also survive. Her mother died in 1912.
Mrs. Robbins was a member of the Missionary Baptist church. The body was taken to Sims on Monday, where the funeral services were held.
ROBBINS, Serepta Angela Brewer
LeRoy Journal, Jan. 13, 1939 - Mrs. Jess Robbins, 48, passed away at 3 p. m. last Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital, Bloomington. She had been ill since December 26.
She was born February 9, 1890 at Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and Dona Brewer. On July 12, 1912, she was married to Jess Robbins of LeRoy.
Surviving are her husband and four children, Ernest, Howard, Marvin and Helen, all at home; two brothers and two sisters, Robert Brewer, Mt. Carmel; Dale Brewer, Dublin; Mrs. Eva Garriett, Keenburn and Mrs. Elizabeth Doneldson in Iowa, also survive.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Methodist Church with Rev. David Nelson officiating. The pallbearers were: Keneth Robbins, Cecil Robbins, Thomas Robbins, Delbert Robbins, James Robbins, Brandon Strain and Richard Brewer.
Mrs. Joe Keenan sang accompanied by Mrs. Wayne Weber at the piano.
The flower girls were: Mrs. Pearl Tate, Mrs. Chas. Roby, Mrs. Harry McQueen, Mrs. Dean Amstadt, Mrs. N. E. McBride and Mrs. Milton Rees. There was a large array of floral tributes from relatives and friends of the family.
Burial was at Oak Grove cemetery.

ROBBINS, Thomas Delbert
LeRoy Journal, Feb. 23, 1945 - Nephew of Local Men Dies of Wounds February 2 -
S/Sgt. Thomas Delbert Robbins, son of Hugh Robbins of Springfield and a nephew of Benny and Jesse Robbins of LeRoy, died February 2 of wounds received in action in Germany, it was learned here this week.
Memorial services for him will be held at the Christian church in Fairbury next Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
Sgt. Robbins entered service in March, 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Claiborne, La. Later he entered the airborne infantry and received additional training at Ft. Bragg, N. C. He went overseas in April, 1943 and saw his first active service in Sicily. He also served in Italy and participated in the invasion of France on D-Day. He also fought in Holland.
Sgt. Robbins had been wounded twice and had received the presidential citation, the purple heart, and extraordinary infantry medal. He had been decorated for valor nine times.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred Adreon of Weston; one brother, James L. Robbins who is serving somewhere in France; and his father, Hugh Robbins of Springfield. His mother preceded him in death.
[S/Sgt Thomas Delbert Robbins was a member of the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He died from wounds received during the breeching of the Siegfried line. His remains were interred at the ABMC Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Belgium]
ROBBINS, Thomas V.
LeRoy Journal, April 13, 1945 - Cpl. T. V. Robbins, Waist Gunner, Missing Over Austria - Cpl. Thomas V. Robbins of Normal, formerly of LeRoy, has been missing in action over Austria since March 22. A waist gunner on a B-24 bomber stationed in Italy, Cpl. Robbins was on his 13th mission over enemy territory. The announcement stating that he was missing was received Monday by his wife who lives with their three children in Normal.
Cpl. Robbins was born and raised in the LeRoy community and is a graduate of Empire Township high school. He farmed west of LeRoy before the family moved to Normal. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Robbins. The father is deceased but his mother is living in Normal.
Robbins entered military service just a year and two days before he became missing. He went overseas last December 19.

Now presumed to be dead is Cpl. Thomas V. Robbins, B-24 gunner formerly of LeRoy, according to a war department message received Saturday by his wife, Mrs. Ruth E. Robbins of Normal.
Lost in a mission ever Vienna, Austria on March 22, 1945, the bomber and crew had been reported missing in action since that xxxxx. Cpl. Robbins was a waist gunner on the big plane and was on his 13th mission.
Born and raised in the LeRoy community, Cpl. Robbins was a graduate of E. T. H. S. and farmed west of LeRoy before the family moved to Normal. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Robbins. The father is deceased but his mother lives in Normal.
Cpl. Robbins had been in service a year before his last mission, and had served three months overseas. He held the air medal and an oak leaf cluster. A member of the Normal Methodist church, he was employed by the Little Boss dairy in Normal before entering the service.
The following persons survive in addition to his wife and mother: three children, Eleanor, Vernon and Gary; two sisters, Mrs. Harold Jacobs of Forrest and Mrs. Roy Bryan of Normal; and a brother, Cecil, of Waterloo, Ill.
[Cpl. Thomas Vernon Robbins was a member of the 779th Bomber Squadron of the 464th Bomb Group (Heavy). His aircraft received a direct hit from flak over the target area during one of the last combat missions over Europe. Only one member of his aircrew survived. LeRoy Journal, July 6, 1934 - VERNIE W. ROBBINS IS SUMMONED BY DEATH - Passed Away Monday Morning At Brokaw Hospital - Was Ill Three Weeks - Vernie W. Robbins, a prominent farmer residing near LeRoy, died early Monday morning at the Brokaw hospital, Bloomington, where he had been a patient for the last three weeks. He submitted to a major operation Friday.
Mr. Robbins was born on September 16, 1886 in Wayne county, the son of Thomas K. and Lucinda B. Dickey Robbins, and was one of ten children. He resided in Wayne county until his marriage about 25 years ago to Edith Warren, and since that time had resided on a farm eight miles south of LeRoy. He was one of the prominent farmers of Downs township.
He leaves the widow and four children, Cecil, Wanda, Eunice and Thomas, all at home. Three sons, Billy and Bobby, twins and Paul, preceded him in death. He also leaves his aged mother, who has made her home with him the greater part of the time; and the following brothers and sisters, Walter of St. Louis; B. W. of South Downs; Hugh of Windsor; Jesse of LeRoy; Mrs. Eliza Chapman of Akron, Ohio; Clacy E. of Hoopeston.
Mr. Robbins was a member of the Baptist church. The funeral service was held from the M. E. church in LeRoy, yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. B. M. Petty, the pastor, officiating.
Interment took place at Oak Grove cemetery.

He was born 12-28-1927 in Anchor, a son of Henry and Emma Winter Roesch. He married Anna May Zackay on 12-9-1951 in Saybrook. She survives. Other survivors include a son, David, Saybrook; a daughter, Rebecca Roesch, Champaign; a sister Bernadine Dickson, Springfield. Mr. Roesch was a retired farmer. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, and the Irvin Martin American Legion Post No 164, Anchor.

Four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. He was a retired farmer and a WWI veteran. He was the oldest living member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Johann H. Roesch was the 2nd son of Paul Heinrich Roesch and wife. He served with the soldiers in Berlin for 2 years. Married Elise Wiebers and lived at Hemmingstedt until 1882 when they came to America. Their two oldest daughters, Anna Roesch Simpsen and Emma Roesch Stroh were born in Germany. Nine children were born - two died in infancy. Survived by wife and the following children: Mrs. Anna Simpsen, Mrs. Emma Stroh; William J.; Henry; Minnie Brokate; Herman; and John. He died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday 1-24-1995 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Gibson City. Mr. Roesch was born 6-19-1898 in Anchor Twp, a son of John Henry and Elise Weibers Roesch. He married Louise B. Suntken 8-29-1922 in Anchor Twp and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Wilma Dillman, Bloomington; one son, Vernon, Gibson City; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. One son, four sisters, four brothers and one grandson preceded him in death. Mr. Roesch retired from farming in 1967 and had operated a corn sheller for many years. He had lived most of his life in Anchor Twp. He was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church and had served on the church board of trustees.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, or a charity of the donor's choice. Mrs. Roesch was born 8-20-1903 at Triplet, Mo., a daughter of John H. and Mary K. Wichmann Suntken. She married John Roesch on 8-29-1922. He died 1-24-1995. Survivors include one son, Vernon (Jessie) Roesch, Gibson City; one daughter, Wilma Dillman, Bloomington; one brother, Earnest Suntken, Bloomington; one sister, Margaret Osborne, Leesburg, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. One son, Merle Roesch; four brothers and six sisters preceded her in death. Also preceded her in death was a grandson, Dennis Roesch. Mrs. Roesch worked for Stokely VanCamp for many years until she was 72 years old. She then worked for Landing's Restaurant in Gibson City. She had been a resident of Bloomington since 1988. She formerly lived in Gibson City and Anchor. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor and Dorcas Society.

Merle J. "Blondie" Roesch, 60, a resident of Gibson City for many years, died at 2 p.m. yesterday 8-11-1984 at his home after a lengthy illness. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, near Anchor, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating. Burial wil be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 9 p.m. Monday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. He was born 8-15-1923 at Anchor, a son of John A. and Louise Suntken Roesch. He married Dorothy Fuoss 1-9-1949 at Thawville. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Rick, Fisher; Terry, Gibson City; and Mike, in the Air Force stationed at Barksdale, La.; a daughter, Linda Gregory, Elliott; his parents, Gibson City; a brother, Vernon, Gibson City; a sister, Wilma Dillman, Bloomington; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son. Mr. Roesch was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Anchor, as well as a former church board and Sunday school board member. He was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII and a member of the Anchor American Legion. Memorials may be made to the church building fund.

She was born 10-12-1926 at Thawville, Artesia Twp, a daughter of George Michael and Louise Emaline Hethke Fuoss. She married Merle John Roesch on 1-9-1949 in Thawville. He died 8-11-1984. Survivors include three sons, Rickie Lee (Rhonda) Roesch, Fisher; Terry Leroy (Debra) Roesch, Gibson City; and Michael Lynn (Sherrie) Roesch of Texas; one daughter, Linda Louise (Ron) Gregory, McLeansboro; her mother-in-law, Louise Suntken Roesch, Normal; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Roesch, four brothers, Franklin Fuoss, Leroy Fuoss, Wilfred Fuoss and Elmer Fuoss; and two sisters, Florence Hack and Frances Weerts. Mrs. Roesch graduated from Roberts Twp. High School, Roberts, 5-17-1945. Her marriage was at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Thawville, the Rev. Harold G. Molzan officiating. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor.

RUTHER, Herman
Herman Ruther, son of Fred Jacob John Ruther and Wiebke Christina Nissen Ruther, was born 2-10-1863 in Weddingstedt, Holstein Germany. At the Lutheran parish church of his birthplace he was baptized and after having received religious instruction he was confirmed in the same church. In the year 1882 he came to America accompanied by his parents and his brother Gustave, and took up his home in the neighborhood of Anchor. In May (12) 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Emily Hauser of St. Louis, Mo. First, they took up their home on a farm between Anchor and Saybrook, and then south of Arrowsmith, until they moved to their own farm near Saybrook. On account of Mrs. Ruther's failing health, they retired from the farm to live in Saybrook, where they bought a house and where Mrs. Ruther passed away June 12, (1925) a year ago. Since her death he felt very lonesome, especially since their union was not blessed with any children, and also on account of his failing health. A few months ago he visited with his nephew, Nic Axen, and family, in Indiana, and after his return his sickness became more and more serious. His nephew, Fred Stroh, took him to his home, where he received tender care, but in spite of it, strength decreased rapidly. He passed away November 2 (1926) at two o'clock in the morning, aged 63 years, 8 months and 22 days, leaving to mourn his departure, one sister in Idaho, Mrs. Andrew (Wiebke) Stroh, and many nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral services were held November 4 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Bertha W.) Stroh at one o'clock and at St. John's Lutheran Church at two o'clock. Rev. A. Hahn, officiated. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery. The services were largely attended and the floral offerings were beautiful.
The funeral services for Herman Ruther who died 11-2-1926 were held from the home of (his nephew) Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stroh at 1 p.m. and at St. John's Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. November 4, 1926. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery. Services were in charge of Rev. Andrew Hahn. Mr. Ruther was born on 2-10-1863 in Weddingstedt, Holstein, Germany and came to America in 1882. Harm J. Saathoff, 73, of Gibson City, died at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday 1-22-2003 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Anchor. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to WGNN Great News Radio. Mr. Saathoff was born 3-17-1929 in Champaign County, a son of Onnie and Grace Fruhling Saathoff. He married Clarine Frerichs 2-20-1919 at Royal. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Harlow, Miami, Fla.; Nancy Bertram, Portland, Ore.; and Robin (Don) Brokate, Mahomet; two grandchildren; one sister, Dorothea Grider, Champaign; and one step-brother, Jim Shry, NY. His parents, one brother, one sister, one step-sister and a son-in-law preceded him in death. Mr. Saathoff farmed near Fithian and moved to rural Gibson City in 1955. He retired in 1991 and moved into Gibson City. He was a grain farmer and an innovator and conservationist. He received the Progressive Farming Award in 1959. He was a member of the advisory committee of PCA,; chairman of Farm Home Adm on the county board level; and vice-chairman of the Ford County Service Co. Board; and member of the Health Improvement Association. Mr. Saathoff was a member of the Ford County Sheriffs Department for many years and past president of St. John's Lutheran Church Board in Anchor. Mr. Saathoff was also a member of the Administrative Board of the United Methodist Church and served as vice-president of the church council.
SAATHOFF, Onnie H.
Onnie H. Saathoff, 85, died at 11 a.m. 8-10-1989 at his home in rural Rantoul. A burial service will be at 2 p.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Anchor. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. today at Rantoul American Lutheran Church, the Reverend William Shields officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parish hall after the service. Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, is in charge of arrangements. He was born 8-10-1904 in Champaign County, a son of Harm and Anna Rocker Saathoff. He married Grace Fruhling on 9-7-1927 in Royal. She died in 1967. He married Ila Sry in July 1971. She died in 1982. Survivors include two sons, Harm "Bob" Saathoff of Gibson City, and John, Toledo; one daughter, Dorothea Grider, Champaign; a step-son, James Sry, West Union NJ; a step-daughter, Phyllis Herman, Lisle; three brothers, John, Danville; Henry, Champaign; and Bill, Glendale, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. A sister, brother and infant daughter preceded him in death. Mr. Saathoff farmed in the Royal and Flatville area for many years. He moved to Gibson City in 1958 and had been a Rantoul resident since 1971. He was a member of Rantoul American Lutheran Church and the Champaign County Farm Bureau.

Scheets, 64, a retired police sergeant of Saybrook, formerly of Bloomington, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Bert L. Lancaster will officiate. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington where military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Scheets died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 5, 1992) at his home. He had been under a doctor's care. He was born NOv. 30, 1927 in Bloomington, a son of Nathan and Rowena (Phillips) Scheets. He married Patricia Wiser Oct. 2, 1949 in Bloomington. She died April 24, 1977. Surviving are two daughters, Jeanne Kashner, Danvers, and Jane Barling, 501 W. Miller St., Bloomington; one son, Brian, McLean; nine grandchildren; and a friend, Jean Boss, with whom he lived in Saybrook. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Scheets served in the Navy from 1945 - 1947 aboard the USS Hornet. He joined the Bloomington Police Department as a patrolman in May 1951 and was promoted to sergeant in October 1963. He received the honorable mention award in 1964 for service and devotion to duty for solving more than 100 cases of vandalism, burglary and theft. He retired May 1, 1973. He also was self-employed as a paintin contractor. Mr. Scheets was a member of American Legion, David Humphrey Daniel Post 427 at Saybrook; past president of Police Benevolent and Protective Association Unit 21 of Bloomington and was a member of Illinois State Police Association. He was a past member of American Legion Louis E. Davis Post 56, Bloomington. Scheets, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nat Scheets, R.R.3, died of pneumonia at his home on route 39 at 2 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28, 1930) . Mr. Scheets was born at Downs May 20, 1904, and was married Feb. 18, 1925, to Miss Rowena Phillips, who, with one son, Harold Eugene, survives. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Albert Krape, Merna; Mrs. Earl Gresham, Mrs Dean Wilkins, Lawrence and Paul Scheets, Bloomington. August Schleeter, died at 9:25 a.m. Monday (July 1944) at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Hall. The body was removed to the Wilhoite Funeral Home, Colfax, Il. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the home and at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor; the Rev. Edwin Grosz of Sibley, Il. will officiate. Burial will be in the Anchor church cemetery. Mr. Schleeter was born 9-13-1871 at Bloomington, a son of Johann and Antje Stroh Schleeter. He married 1-22-1896 at St. John's to Anna F. Wichmann. He made his home south of Anchor and in Anchor until his death. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ida M. Neldner of Lexington, Il. and Mrs. Hall; a son, George of Watseka, Il; four brothers, Louis of Colfax; Henry of Iowa; Will of Anchor and Ed of Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Thedens of Iowa and Mrs. Emma Klintworth of Anchor; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1934 and a son and a daughter. JOHN U. SCHLEETER John U. Schleeter, 80, died at 3:27 a.m. Tuesday 10-7-1980 at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a family visitation tonight at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, and visitation at the church an hour before the service. Mr. Schleeter was born 6-16-1900 at Anchor, a son of William C. and Ursula Ulmer Schleeter. He married Elise Simpsen 1-22-1925 in Anchor. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Lyle, Bloomington; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a brother. Mr. Schleeter was a retired farmer. He worked for eight years after his retirement at M&W Gear, Gibson City. He was director of and an agent for Belle Prairie Insurance Co. and a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau. He was a former director of Anchor State Bank and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Elise A. Schleeter, 98, of Heritage Manor, Colfax, formerly of Anchor died at 1:14 a.m. Thursday 4-10-2003 at the manor. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. The Rev. Steven Goodwin will officiate; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to her church or the American Cancer Society. She was born 10-30-1904 in Anchor, a daughter of John and Anna Roesch Simpsen. She married John U. Schleeter on 1-22-1925 at Anchor. He died 10-7-1980. Survivors include two granddaughters; one brother, Harold Simpsen, OK; one sister, Hilda Harris, High Point, NC; two sisters-in-law, Doris Simpsen, Arrowsmith and Dorothy Simpsen, Saybrook; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lyle and Larry; six brothers; two sisters; and a great-granddaughter. A homemaker, she had farmed with her husband and also was a nurse's aide at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, and the Dorcas Society.
SCHLEETER, Albert John
Albert Schleeter was born 6-9-1899 near Anchor, Il. He was baptized in infancy. On 3-28-1915 he was confirmed at the Lutheran Church with a class of 13 boys and five girls. In 1918 he was drafted for the Army but Armistice came and he did not need to serve. September 28, 1921, he was married to Miss Anna Hinrichsen - two children were born to this union, Maynard Wayne age 10 years and Faye Donnabelle, age 4 years. On May 1, (1932?) they moved to a farm two miles northeast of Garber. Saturday May 14, he worked on the farm as usual, but the following night he was taken very ill. Everything that human hands could do was done towards his comfort; but he grew weaker until he passed away Saturday morning 5-21-1932, aged 32 years 11 months and 12 days. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, two children, his parents, August C. and Fredericha Wichmann Schleeter; his sisters, Mrs. R. Neldner, his twin sister, Mrs. James Hall; another sister, Mrs. Albert Simpsen, one brother, George and many relatives and friends. The funeral service was held Monday at 1 p.m. at the home and at 2 p.m. from St. John's Lutheran Church in Anchor Twp., Rev. A. Hahn,, pastor of the church officiated; burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Charles Thedens, Herman Molck, Henry Klintworth, Everett Klintworth, Fred Bielfeldt and Ferdinand Landau. Singers were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bielfeldt, Mrs. Julius Landau, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lage with Miss Lena Riecks at the organ.
SCHOLL, Fredericka Dunkleman

Mrs. John Scholl - Friday evening at 8:10 o'clock at her home south west of Colfax occurred the death of Fredericka Scholl, wife of John Scholl. She had been a constant sufferer of cancer for the last year and withstood it all without a murmur till the last. She was loved and respected by all who knew her, and everything that loving hands could do was done for her. She had been a resident of this county for the last 26 years.
Fredericka Dunkleman was born in Heilbron, Wurtenburg, Germany, Oct. 11, 1858, and died Nov. 23, 1906. She came to this country at the age of 22, and was united in marriage to John Scholl, Aug. 4, 1881. She made a profession of her faith in Christ when only 14 years of age and united with the Lutheran church and was a faithful and consistent Christian, and died in the triumphs of faith.
To this union were born seven children, as follows: Mrs. Pauline E. Lyons, William J., Louisa M., John H., Freddie H., Bertha M., and Catherine D. All were present during her illness and death. She leaves an aged mother in Germany besides her husband and seven children to mourn her loss. The funeral was held at the home Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. O. M. Dunlevy, pastor of the Cooksville M. E. church, and the interment in the Wiley cemetery. Those attending from a distance were Casper Scholl, of King's Station, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin, of Kankakee, Ill.; Mrs. Sophia Ritter, of Hammon, Ind.; Mrs. Harve Patton, of Bloomington, Ill.

The funeral of Alfred "Dick" Schroeder, age 85 of Gibson City was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor, the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday at the Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City and for an hour before the service Monday at the church. Pallbearers were James Schroeder, Tom Enghausen, Herschel Cramer, Bill Pearson, Larry Winterland and Thomas Klintworth. Mr. Schroeder died at 7:45 p.m. Friday 1-6-1989 at Gibson Community Hospital Annex, Gibson City. He was born 12-2-1903 in Sibley, a son of Peter and Emma Brading Schroeder. He married Anna Klintworth 1-20-1926 in rural Anchor and she survives. Other survivors include a son, Robert Schroeder of Fisher; a daughter, Virginia Winterland of Colfax; two brothers, Ernest Schroeder of Gibson City and Franklin Schroeder of Garden Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Cramer and Hazel Enghausen, both of Gibson City; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. He farmed in rural Colfax until his retirement in 1968 when he moved to Gibson City. He was a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau and St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor, to which memorials may be made.

Carl E. Schroeder, 70, a life-long resident of the Saybrook and Gibson City areas, died at 7:10 a.m. Friday (5-31-1969) at the Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. He had been admitted at 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the St. John's Lutheran Church near Anchor, with the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lamb Funeral Home and at the church after noon on Sunday. Mr. Schroeder was born 10-9-1898, at Sibley, a son of Peter and Emma Brading Schroeder. He never married. He is survived by three sisters, Miss Elsie Schroeder, Mrs. Helen Cramer and Mrs. William Enghausen all of Gibson City; three brothers, Alfred and Ernie, both of Gibson City, and Frank, Garden Grove, Calif. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
ANDREAS CARL HEINRICH SCHROEDER ANNA REIMERS SCHROEDER LOUISE MARIA DOROTHEA RASMUSSEN SCHROEDER Mr. Schroeder was born 6-3-1832 in Heide, Holstein, Germany, the son of Jurgen Dietrich and Margaretha Christina Claudi Schroeder and died in 1915 at his home in Sibley, Il. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Anchor, Il. Mr. Schroeder married 8-23-1857 in Heide, Holstein, Germany, to Anna Reimers (born 9-16-1823 at Delm, Germany, daughter of Garonymus Reimers, died 10-15-1865 at Heide and is buried there). Four children were born to this union: Freiderich Wilhelm Schroeder; Claus John Jeronimus Schroeder; Fredericka Marie Catherine Schroeder and Anna Wiebe Dorothea Schroeder. Claus John and Fredericka came to America in 1882. Mr. Schroeder married 4-22-1866 Heide, Holstein, Germany to Louise Maria Dorothea Rasmussen (b 7-3-1845, Heide, Holstein, Germany, daughter of Peter Niels Jacob and Elsabe Junge Rasmussen.) Eight children wre born to this union: Johann Casper Dietricch Schroeder; Peter Henry Schroeder; Carl Wilhelm Schroeder; Frederich Jurgen Schroeder; Johannes Eduart Ferdinand Schroeder; Emma Louise Schroeder; Agraphina Margaretha Schroeder; Wilhelmina Margaretha Schroeder. All were born in Germany. Carl Wilhelm, Johannea Eduart and Agraphina M. all died in Germany as small children and are buried there. Carl and Louise came to America in 1886 with their family to join son Peter and Claus John and Fredericka (by first marriage) who had come in 1882. Carl and Louise Schroeder made their home in Sibley, Il where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a short time before his death in 1915. Louise broke up housekeeping after the death of Carl and she made her home with a son, Fred, in Chatsworth, Il. Later she lived in the Lutheran Home in Muscatine, Iowa where she passed away 1-12-1919 and is buried in St. John's Cemetery.

Elsie M. Schroeder, 84, Gibson City, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday 3-22-1981 at Ford County Nursing Home, Paxton, where she had been a resident the past year. Her funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Dale Riblet, Robert Schroeder, John Schroeder, James Schroeder, Herschel Cramer, and Tom Enghausen. Surviving are three brothers, Alfred and Ernest, both of Gibson City, and Franklin of Garden Grove, Calif.; and two sisters, Helen Cramer and Hazel Enghausen, both of Gibson City. Two brothers preceded her in death. She was a Gibson City resident most of her life. Miss Schroeder was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, and the Dorcas Society of the church. She was a member of Garber Friendship Club. Memorials may be made to her church.
SCHROEDER, Emma Alwine Brading
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Schroeder, 77, were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. Mrs. Schroeder died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday 5-20-1951 in Burnham City Hospital, Champaign, where she had been a patient for a week. She was brought to the Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, where prayer services were held before the funeral. The Rev. Carl Grabemann officiating; burial was in the church cemetery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers. She was born 10-14-1873 near Saybrook, Il., a daughter of John D. and Margaret Stroh Brading. She was married 10-12-1894 at Anchor to Peter H. Schroeder. He died in 1943. She lived in the Anchor community until the last six years of her life. Surviving are three daughters, Elsie Schroeder, Mrs. Helen Cramer and Mrs. Hazel Enghausen all of Gibson City; five sons, Carl Schroeder, John Schroeder, Ernest Schroeder and Franklin Schroeder, all of Gibson City; and Alfred Schroeder of Colfax; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ella Simpsen of Saybrook. Mrs. Schroeder was preceded in death by two children, one granddaughter, two brothers and six sisters. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society.

SCHROEDER, Frederick Jurgen Wilhelm
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Frederick Schroeder, Sr., 83, at Hanson - Mowry Funeral Home, followed by services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, the Rev. Karl Trost officiating. His death occured Friday 5-14-1954 at 12:05 a.m. in Fairbury hospital, following a kidney and bladder ailment. Mr. Schroeder was fairly active until Monday previous when he was admitted to the hospital. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Anchor, Il. The following served as casket bearers: Elmer Runyon, John Ruppel, Philip Hornickel, George Dennewitz, Leo Kerrins and Louis Stebbins. Kenneth Rosenboom was soloist and Clarice Gerbracht organist at the service. Mr. Schroeder was born 1-15-1871, Heide, Holstein, Germany, the son of Carl and Louise Rasmussen Schroeder. He lived in Germany until the age of 12 years, coming to the United States and locating at Anchor, Il. He was educated in the Anchor schools and was engaged in farming there. In 1909 he came to Chatsworth and was engaged in mason work and he had many friends and business aquaintances around the countryside of Chatsworth, Sibley and Anchor. He enjoyed radio and reading the newspapers, keeping up on the national and local news. He was united in marriage with Miss Louise Brading at Anchor 1-12-1891 and she preceded him in death 8-1-1920. He leaves surviving, two daughters; Mrs. Rose Dennewitz of Chatsworth and Mrs. Mary Harper of Chicago; one son, Fred Schroeder of Park Ridge, Il.; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Stuhmer of Piper City and Mrs. Margaret Beecher of Gibson City, and three grand- children. One son, Alex Schroeder, preceded him in death in 1940 and also three other children in infancy.

Gibson City Courier, 1943 - Peter H. Schroeder, 74, died at 4:40 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington, 7-10-1943. Funeral services will be held at 1:45 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City; and at 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Anchor, with the Rev. Hartwig Harm officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. He was born 4-19-1869 at Heide, Holstein, Germany, son of Carl and Louise Rasmussen Schroeder. He came to this country with his brother and half-sister at the age of 14. He lived in Arkansas for two years. He married Miss Emma A. Brading 10-12-1894 at Anchor. They moved to a farm near Sibley, Il. Later they bought a farm near Anchor where he lived 38 years. He was preceded in death by an infant son and an infant daughter. Surviving are his wife and eight children, Carl Schroeder, Elsie Schroeder, John Schroeder, Ernest Schroeder, Franklin Schroeder, Mrs. Helen Cramer and Mrs. Hazel Enghausen, all of Gibson City; and Alfred Schroeder of Colfax. Sixteen grandchildren and two brothers, John Schroeder of Chicago and Fred Schroeder of Chatsworth; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Stuhmer of Piper City and Mrs. Margaret Beecher of Gibson City.

The funeral of Mildred A. Simmons, age 82 of Gibson City was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City with the Rev. Patrick W. Cox officiating. She died at 3:25 p.m. Monday, 11-15-1993 at Jackson Heights Nursing Home in Farmer City. Mrs. Simmons was born 7-23-1911 in Saybrook, a daughter of Louis and Mary Bennett Roberts. She married Shirley O. Simmons on 1-11-1931 in Monticello. He died 8-26-1993. Survivors include two sons, Dick Simmons of Loda and Charles Simmons of Bradenton, Fl.; two brothers, Lawrence Roberts and Lewis Williamson, both of Saybrook; three grandchidren; and three great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded her in death. Mrs. Simmons worked at the Gibson Canning Co and then Stokely Van Camp in Gibson City for 30 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Gibson City.

Mr. Simpsen died at 2:18 p.m. Saturday 11-1-1986 at Mennonite Hospital, Bloomington. He was born 7-9-1901 at Anchor, a son of John and Anna Roesch Simpsen. He married Hulda Schleeter. She preceded him in death. He married Annabelle Douglas. She survives. Also survivng are a son, Darrel Simpsen of Saybrook; a step-son James Rohrabaugh of Burmingham, Ala; four daughters, Allyne Roach of Bloomington; Lois Lehman of Fountain Valley, Ca.; Shirley Cumpston of Bloomington; and Alberta Zachay of Tolono; three step-children; four brothers, Henry Simpsen of Colfax; William Simpsen of Tucson, AZ; Ray Simpsen of Arrowsmith; and Harold Simpsen of Oklahoma City, OK; three sisters, Elise Schleeter of Anchor; Edna Bohlin of Elgin and Hilda Harris of SC; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a child in infancy. Mr. Simpsen farmed in the Anchor, Colfax, Saybrook and Bellflower area and also worked as a carpenter. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Anna Simpsen, 81, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday 12-7-1960 at her home in Saybrook. Her funeral was held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor, with Rev. Alexander Youck officiating; burial was in the church cemetery. She was born in Germany, a daughter of John and Elise Wiebers Roesch. She came to the United States when she was four years old. She was married to John Simpsen, 10-5-1899 at Anchor. They observed their 61st wedding anniversary in October. They farmed in the Saybrook - Anchor vicinity until 1944 when they retired and moved to Saybrook. Surviving are her husband; seven sons, Henry, Colfax; Albert, Saybrook; William, Lexington; John, Jr., at home; Ray, Saybrook; Harold, Park Forrest; Kenneth, Arrowsmith; four daughters, Mrs. Elise Schleeter, Anchor; Mrs. Leona Stroh, Pontiac; Mrs. Edna Bohlin, Elgin; Mrs. Hilda Harris, Kansas City, Kansas; four brothers, William, Sibley; Herman, Thomasboro; John, Anchor; Henry, Saybrook, 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Simpsen, Colfax; one daughter, Ashley J. Simpsen, rural Saybrook; one brother, Gary (Janice) Simpsen, Colfax; and twin sister, Diane K. (Gerald) Beauchamp, LeRoy. His father, an infant son, and his maternal and paternal grandparents preceded him in death. Mr. Simpsen had been a warehouse supervisor for Heartland Ag, Inc. in Farmer City.. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Navy Seabees. Mr. Simpsen was a 1965 graduate of Saybrook - Arrowsmith High School. He was a member of David Humphrey Daniel Post 427 American Legion, Saybrook. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and boating.

Edna B. Simpsen, 86, Mesa, AZ, formerly of Lexington, a retired school- teacher, died Monday 8-20-1990 at Citadel Care Center, Mesa. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Victory Lutheran Church, Mesa. She was cremated. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, rural Anchor. Chapel of Prayer Funeral Home, Mesa, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Simpsen was born 3-16-1904 in Stuttgart, Ark., a daughter of George and Henrieke Busing Fasking. She married William Fred Simpsen. He survives. Other survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Simpsen had taught school in Illinois. She and her husband moved from Lexington to Arizona in 1974. She was a member of Victory Lutheran Church and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

He was born 5-18-1900 at Anchor Twp in McLean County, a son of John and Anna Roesch Simpsen. He married Hazel Cross on 12-30-1925 at rural Anchor. She died 7-23-1975. Survivors include three sons, Donald R. (Helen) Simpsen, Cazenovia, Wis.; Irvin H. (Marjory) Simpsen, Paris, TX; and Gerald K. (Guylan) Simpsen, Bloomington; a daughter, Mary Ellen Schoon, Bloomington; a brother Harold P. He also was a member of the Never Too Old Club, and of McLean County Farm Bureau, having served as director for 18 years. He also was the 1994 grand-marshal of the Colfax Good Old Days Parade. He was a lifetime resident of the Colfax and Anchor area, where he farmed until retiring in 1962.

He had been a member of Cheney's Grove Twp Cemetery board and Saybrook Town Board and had been a twp registrar.

He was born 12-9-1875 in Anchor Twp, a son of Henry and Anna Rhode Simpsen. He married Anna Roesch, 10-15-1899 at Anchor. She died in 1960. He is survived by seven sons, Henry, Colfax; William, Lexington; Harold, Naperville; Kenneth, Arrowsmith; Albert and Ray, both of Saybrook; and John, Jr. at home; four daughters, Mrs. Elise Schleeter, Anchor; Mrs. Leona Stroh, Pontiac; Mrs. Edna Bohlin, Elgin; Mrs. Hilda Harris, Oklahoma City, OK; and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Winterland, Fairbury; 23 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He farmed in the Saybrook and Anchor area until 1944 when he reitred and moved to Saybrook. He was the oldest member of the St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He was a former farmer and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Also surviving are nieces and nephews. His maternal and paternal grandparents preceded him in death. Todd attended and was affiliated with Marc Center, Bloomington, for most of his life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Through the special care of his parents, Todd was able to enjoy a special life. Todd enjoyed the company of family and friends and loved the outdoors. He was a very special person and brought joy to those he knew and loved. His memory will not be forgotten.

Mrs. Simpsen was born 3-23-1906 in West Twp, a daughter of William and Lillian Maxey Wycoff. She married Albert Simpsen 8-19-1943 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. He survives. She is also survived by a son, James Rohrabaugh of Birmingham, Ala.; a step-son, Darrel Simpsen of Saybrook; four step-daughters, Allyne Roach of Bloomington, Lois Lahman of Fountain Valley, Calif., Shirley Cumpston of Bloomington, and Alberta Zackay, Tolono; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Delmar Wycoff of Normal; and two sisters, Lola Benscoter of Mason City, and Bernadine Stack of Saybrook. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Simpsen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Corterie, Idler's Club, St. John's Dorcas Society, Homemaker's Club, and Gibson Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Chapel of Prayer, Mesa, has charge of arrangements. He died at 11:30 p.m. 11-1-1999 at Vista Care Center, Gilbert, AZ. Mr. Simpsen was born 7-25-1903 in Anchor, the son of John and Anna Roesch Simpsen. He married Edna Fasking. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two brothers, Henry Simpsen, Normal; and Harold Simpsen, Oklahoma City, OK; and two sisters, Elise of Gibson City; and Hilda of NJ. Bill was in the auto paint and body repair business until retiring. He had lived in Illinois until moving to Mesa in 1974. He was a longtime resident of Lexington and served as mayor for eight years, always active in civic affairs. He was a Shriner, was in Eastern Star, and was active in Masonic activities.

His parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Leo was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a degree in agriculture. He was a grain elevator manager and retired from Anchor Grain Co. in 1991. Since then he has served as an interim manager at elevators all over Illinois and Iowa. He served as Director of the Feed & Grain Association of Illinois for more than six years. He was also instrumental in keeping the railroad in Anchor and helped form a short-line-railroad called Bloomer Line, which is still running today.

Born Oct. 25, 1911, in Colfax to Henry and Lena Berck Stein, he married Mary O. Richardson on Feb. 11, 1944, in Colfax. She survives. He served on the agricultural advisory council for the Melvin-Sibley High School and was president two terms. He was a member of Northern Illinois Breeding Co- op and served on its board of directors. He served on the board of directors of Sibley Locker Plant. He was a charter member of Sibley Lions Club and a Sibley volunteer fireman. He was a member of Cropsey United Methodist Church. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury. The Rev. Ray Hudson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the memorial home. Carl R. Stroh, 94, Gibson City, died Thursday 6-5-1975 at Douglas Nitengale Manor Nursing Home at Tuscola. He had been a resident a year. Pallbearers were Randy Tomblin, Don Brown, Darrell Stroh, Gary Stroh, Rodney Stroh and Leon Stroh. He was born near Anchor, 3-29-1881, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Stroh. He married Martha Stubbe, 1-12-1905. She died in 11-28-1944. Surviving are three sons, R.W. Dorothy N. Stroh, 81, of 104 E. Wood St. Blooomington, formerly of Anchor, a retired food service worker, died at 11:40 a.m. yesterday 2-13-1985 at her home. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon - 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, had charge of arrangements. Mrs. Stroh was born 1-5-1904 at Noble, a daughter of Stanton and Lydia Bates Jones. She married John H. Stroh 10-20-1920 at Paxton. He survives. Other survivors include five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. A son, a daughter, two brothers and a grandchild preceded her in death. Mrs. Stroh was employed during WWII at the Bloomington Consistory food service and later at the Northern Illinois University food service. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, and the Felicity Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Normal. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Edward F. Stroh, 75, of Berwyn, formerly of Saybrook, died at 10 a.m. yesterday 4-25-1986 at his residence following a lengthy illness. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Clancy Funeral Home, Kankakee. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery, Kankakee. Visitation will be from 4 - 9 p.m. Sunday at Schubert Funeral Home, Berwyn, and one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home. He was born 2-21-1911 at Anchor, a son of Andrew and Emma Roesch Stroh. He married Bessie Clemons on 9-29-1930. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Joan O'Brien, LaGrange; one brother, John Stroh, Bloomington; one sister, Elise Smith, Bloomington; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Berwyn. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
STROH, Eleanor Bernice
7-20-1915 to 11-5-1927 The funeral services of Eleanor Bernice Stroh, daughter of Adolph and Leona Simpsen Stroh of Sibley, were held Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 o'clock at the house and one o'clock at the St. John's Lutheran church of Anchor. Rev. A. Hahn officiating. She was a beautiful child and was loved by everyone who knew her. She took sick last spring with leakage of the heart. When people came to see her during her illness she always had a smile for them. She attended school and Sunday school as long as she possibly could. She died Saturday, November 5, at 3:00. She leaves to mourn her death, her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Adolph Stroh, three sisters, four brothers and many relatives and friends. The songs sung at the house and church were, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "Going Down the Valley One by One." They were sung by Reiny Neldner, Reiny Stroh and Arthur Stroh. A solo, "Lead Me Saviour," was sung by Arthur Stroh. They were accompanied by Mrs. Roy Hinrichsen at the pipe organ. The flowers were numerous and beautiful. The flower girls were: Dorothy Ackert, Esther Stroh, Rose Klintworth, Wilma Stroh, Leona Conrad, Loretta Becker, Gertrude Herrmann, Gertrude Ulfers, Alice Brucker and Ethelene Gahl. The pallbearers were: Albert Stroh, Edward Ackert, Albert Ackert, Reiny Stroh, Fred Siebert and John Gahl. Those who attended from a distance were her grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Ackert, Miss Dorothy Ackert, Edward Ackert, Albert Ackert, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kenzie, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ackert and children and Mr. Max Ackert and daughter Darlene, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Thompson of Russell, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Siebert and sons, Fred and Reiny and Mrs. and Mrs. Henry Siebert of Congerville; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gahl and family of Danvers. The funeral was largely attended.

Mr. Stroh was born in Anchor Twp on 8-30-1880 to Andrew and Wiebke Ruther Stroh. He married Minnie Beck on 7-4-1908 in Bloomington. He farmed in the Anchor area until retiring in 1944 when he moved to Gibson City. Surviving are his wife; one son, Marvin of Cropsey; two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Cook Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Lorene Hahn, Champaign; one foster-son Willis (Bud) Beck, Melvin; one foster-daughter, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Walters, Gibson City; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Steinlicht, American Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Theresia Dalton, Utica, NY., Mrs. Alwina Martens, Anaheim, California, and Mrs. Wiebkae Anders, Glendale, Calif., nine grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
STROH, Herman
Herman Stroh was born 6-5-1885. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claus Stroh, Jr. He was baptized 7-19-1885 and after being instructed in the Catechism of his church he was confirmed 3-31-1901. On 2-5-1908 he was married to Miss Ida Neubauer and they lived on his father's farm four miles west of Garber. Two children were born to them, a daughter whose name was Vera Augusta Emma Stroh, who died April 24 of the same year, and a son, Clarence, who survives. The deceased was an obedient son and a loving husband and father and an ardent member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Anchor Twp. His health failed for some time. On 11-15-1912 he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, Bloomington, where he died 1-18-1913, age 27 years, 7 mos., 13 days. His wife was with him most of the time while in Bloomington and his parents and other relatives visited him frequently. He leaves his wife, his son, Clarence; his parents; one sister and five brothers, and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held Tuesday 1-21-1913 at St. John's Church and Cemetery, Rev. A. Hahn, officiating.

Mr. Stroh, a retired mechanic, died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday 4-10-1988 at Americana Healthcare Center, Normal. He was born 7-30-1899 at Sibley, a son of Andrew and Emma Roesch Stroh. He married Dorothy N. Jones on 10-20-1920 at Paxton. She died 2-13-1985. Survivors are nieces and nephews, including Ardelle McGowan, Normal; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. One son, one daughter, three brothers, three sisters and a grandson preceded him in death. Mr. Stroh was an auto mechanic and a construction worker. He retired in 1967. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Towanda Masonic Lodge, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Order of American Mechanics. The funeral of Leon A. Stroh, 61, of Winter Garden, Fla., formerly of Pontiac, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. The Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum will officiate; burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Stroh died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday 4-19-1994 at Central Health Hospital, Ocoee, Fla. He was born 8-22-1932 in Saybrook, a son of Arthur and Leona Simpson Stroh. He married Judy Inselmann 9-4-1989 in Anchor. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Alan, Ocoee, Fla., and Todd, Denver; two daughters, Sheri Vaughan, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Sandy Higbie, Tavares, Fla.; two step-sons, Jason Haikey and Tyler Haikey, both of Winter Garden, Fla.; one step-daughter, Joy Haikey, Winter Garden, Fla.; one brother, Rodney Stroh, Clinton; and four grandchildren. Mr. Stroh was educated in Lexington schools and graduated from Lexington High School. He retired from State of Illinois Department of Corrections in Pontiac, where he worked for 18 years as a guard and later as supply supervisor. Mr. Stroh served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 - 1954. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
STROH, Martha Stubbe
Mrs. Carl Stroh, 58, passed away in the Mennonite Hospital at 10:30 p.m. Friday 11-28-1944. She was taken to the hospital for major surgery and died of complications. A brief funeral service was held at the home, near Anchor, at 11 a.m. today with Rev. Hartwig Harm conducting a second service at St. John's Lutheran Church near Anchor. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Stroh was born 7-22-1886 in Germany and came to this country when a girl of 17. She was married 1-12-1905 at Anchor to Carl Stroh who survives. Four sons: Riney Stroh, Gibson City; Arthur Stroh and Irvin Stroh of Lexington and Roger Stroh at home; two daughters, Nadine Stroh at home and Mrs. Esther Wren of Chicago, Il. and one sister Mrs. John Brucker of Sibley; and eight grandchildren also survive.

Marvin A. Stroh, 68, of RR1, Cropsey died at 6:52 a.m. Thursday 2-9-1978 at his home. His funeral was Saturday 2 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Alexander Youck officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was born 6-28-1909 in Anchor Twp, a son of Fred and Minnie Beck Stroh. He married Anna E. Petersen 12-27-1934 in Lawndale Twp. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Duane of Cooksville and Gary, Anchor; two daughters, Beverly Stroh, Champaign and Sandy Garner Anchor; a sister, Lorene Hahn, Champaign; a foster-brother Willis (Bud) Beck Melvin; a foster sister, Helen Walters, Elliott, and two grandchildren. One sister, Wilma Cook, preceded him in death. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the church brotherhood. He was also a member of McLean County Farm Bureau and the Antique Auto Club of Pontiac. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Welfare or St. John's Church. Pallbearers were Loren Harms, Larry Harms, Donald Winterland, Ken Petersen, Robert Hutchcraft and Mick Netherton. Shirley Landau was soloist and Velna Riecks, organist.

Minnie Stroh, 96, a rural Anchor resident, died at 7:25 p.m. yesterday 11-9-1990 at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sibley. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, and an hour before the service at the church Monday. She was born 6-8-1894 near Sibley, a daughter of John and Caroline Brandt Boettger. She married Louis Stroh 9-21-1916 at Bloomington. He died 2-28-1952. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Eyvonne Stroh, rural Anchor for which she made her home; one sister, Dora Davenport, Lowell, Mich.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Earl, died 5-28-1919, four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. She lived in the Sibley area most of her life. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor and was a former member of the Dorcas Society of the church.

Raymond L. Stroh, age 84 of Normal, formerly of Bloomington, died at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday 8-7-1996 at the Americana Health Care Center in Normal. His private funeral service was Friday at the St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor, the Reverend Robert E. Ferro officiating; and burial in the church cemetery. There was no visitation. Metzler - Froelich Memorial Home,of Bloomington was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Stroh was born 8-23-1911 near Melvin, the son of Adolph and Olga Ackert Stroh. Survivors include three brothers, Floyd Stroh of Westminsster, Colorado; Warren Stroh of Westminster, Colorado; Don Stroh of Champaign; and three sisters, Mabel Kietzman of Rochester, Indiana; Evelyn Graumann of Rochester, NY and Dorothy Lage of Gibson City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Mr. Stroh was a confirmed member of St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Anchor and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Bloomington. He was a former farmer and former watchmaker in downtown Bloomington.

A brother preceded him in death. Mr. Stroh was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Gibson City.

Mrs. Susanne A. Stroh, 80, a life-long resident of the Gibson City and Anchor communities, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday (12-28-1966) at Gibson Community Hospital Annex, Gibson City, where she had been a resident four months. Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church near Anchor, with Rev. Alexander Youck officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She was born 7-29-1886 near Gibson City, a daughter of Claus and Augusta Koenig Erp. She married Claus Edward Stroh 2-26-1908 at Gibson City. He died 8-1-1960. Surviving are four sisters, Ann McNaughton, Vernal, Utah; Marie Harm, Lockport; Dorothea Bunting, Danforth and Idabell Erp, Gibson City.
STUCKEY, Joseph E.
J.E. STUCKEY PASSES AWAY After an illness, which lasted for only one week, Joseph E. Stuckey, who made his home with his daughter, Ms. Wm. McClure of North Danvers, passed away on Wednesday morning at 11:15 o'clock. It was not thought that he was in serious condition until about thirty-six hours before the end. Mr. Stuckey was born near Washington, IL., on Nov. 16, 1857, and therefore 66 years, 2 months and 14 days of age. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stuckey, who were pioneers in this portion of Illinois. He was married to Miss Kate B. Miller on Feb. 22, 1882. To this union six children were born, Mrs. Olive M. McClure, Danvers, IL.; Harley M. Stuckey, Mr. Morris, Mich.; Mrs. Etta McClure, New London, IN.; Mrs. Luella Gray, Colfax, IL.; and Mrs. Gladys E Whitaker, Napoleon, Ohio. One son died in infancy. There are eleven grandchildren. The wife preceded his death on Sept. 23, 1913. There are also the following brothers and sisters who survive him. Mrs. Anna Stahley and Mrs. Ernest Wappier, Washington, IL.; E.M. Stuckey, Chicago, IL.; P.J. and Louis Stuckey, Lisbon, North Dak.; Mrs. John Wells, Jerome, Idaho; Miss Nettie A. Stuckey, Glenns Ferry, Idaho. A brother, Jacob Stuckey, of Carlock, preceded him in death in 1914. he was a man greatly beloved by his family, a kind and loving father; reserved in temperament, but genuine in character. He united with the Mennonite church of Washington, IL. in early childhood, continuing his membership in that church. The final funeral arrangements depend upon word from distant relatives. The services, however, will be held from the North Mennonite church. The funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, leaving the home at 1:30 and continuing the services at 2 o'clock at the North Danvers Mennonite church, Rev. L.C. Voss preaching the sermon and Rev. W.B. Weaver assisting. Interment will be in the North Danvers cemetery.
SUNTKEN, John H.
John H. Suntken, 72, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday 12-3-1948 at his home at Sibley following an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Suntken residence and at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sibley. The Rev. William Volkmann officiated; burial was in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetry, Anchor. He was born at Essen, Germany, son of John and Tjatke Suntken. He married Miss Marie Wichman at Anchor 12-6-1899. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Ernest of Roberts and Edwin of Colfax; eight daughters, Mrs. Sidona Barber of Roberts, Mrs. Louise Roesch of Anchor, Mrs. Annette Seamonds of Gibson City, Mrs. Dorothy Falck of Roberts, Mrs. Marie Smith of Pana, Mrs. Elsie Stevens of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Irene Falck of Fitzgerald, GA, and Mrs. Margaret Osborne of Sibley; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Three sons, John, Martin, and Albert, preceded him in death. Among those from Roberts who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Suntken and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Barber and family, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bristle, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Falck and family and Mrs. Walter Daro.

Visitation will be from 5 - 9 today at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. She was born 6-14-1882 in Delemhorst, Germany, a daughter of August and Louise Dauel Wichmann. She married John H. Suntken on 12-6-1899 near Anchor. He preceded her in death. Survivors include eight daughters, Mrs. Sidone Barber and Mrs. Elsie Stevens, both of Onarga; Mrs. Louise Roesch and Mrs. Annetta Seamands, both of Gibson City; Mrs. Marie Snelson and Mrs. Margaret Osborne, both of Steelville, Mo.; Mrs. Dorothea Falck, Melvin; and Mrs. Irene Falck, of Tifton, Ga.; two sons, Ernest of Bloomington and Erwin of Gibson City; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Hensen, Gibson City; and Mrs. Dora Hoffmann, Fisher; 24 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons and several sisters and brothers. She had been a Sibley resident for most of her life and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sibley.

Born Aug. 19, 1907, in Aden to Uriah and Martha Glenn Thomason, she married Walter O. Talbert on Oct. 5, 1925, in Nashville. He died June 17, 1990. Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. Surviving are one son, Ray E. of St. Peters, Mo.; two daughters, Lois E. Schlueter of Colfax and Sharon K. Bjelk of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She and her husband managed Montclair Apartments in Peoria Heights for 15 years. Mrs. LaVera L. Terven, 40, died at Carle Memorial Hospital in Urbana at 4:50 p.m. Friday 12-8-1961. She had been a patient there nine days. Her funeral will be at St. John's Lutheran Church, near Anchor at 10:30 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at the Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City at 7 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Terven was born 4-16-1921 in El Paso, the daughter of Claude and Lydia Schaffer Kingdon. She was married to Paul Terven on 9-26-1942 in University City, Mo. They had farmed near Saybrook the past 13 years. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Pauleta and Linda, at home; her mother, of El Paso. She was preceded in death by her father. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She had been employed the past year and a half by the State Farm Insurance Co. in Bloomington. The family suggests that tangible expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the St. John's Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Thedens was born 4-23-1904 near Anchor, a son of Hans and Mary George Thedens. He married Elsa J. Schmidt 10-11-1928 in Anchor and she survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Delores Taylor, Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; LaVon Thedens, Bloomington and Joan Keim of Gibson City; one brother, George of Colfax; one sister, Edna Stroh of Gibson City; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Thedens farmed in the Anchor area until 1956 and was employed by M&W Gear Co., Inc. in Gibson City until he retired in 1972. He had lived in Gibson City for the last six years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Anchor with the Rev. Robert Ferro officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City and for one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Myron Willke, Berdell Borchers, Gary Stroh and Vernon Roesch. Active pallbearers included Robert Higgins, Kevin Higgins, Chuck Geibel, Marvin Willke, Delmar Thedens and Darrell Stroh. Mrs. Thedens was born 2-10-1902 at Saybrook, a daughter of Heinrich and Maria Hensen Fasking. She married Charles A. Thedens on 2-12-1924 at Anchor. He died 7-20-1964. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Meadows of Belleville and Joyce Higgins of Rantoul; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two son-in-laws, Gene Meadows of Belleville and Allen Higgins of Rantoul. She was preceded in death by one son and two sisters. Mrs. Thedens lived in Anchor and Gibson City and most recently in Rantoul with her daughter. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Anchor and served as the first president of the Dorcas Society. She was also a member of the Garber Club and the Anchor Club. Elsa J. Thedens, 83, of Bloomington Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Anchor and Gibson City, died at 7 a.m. yesterday 9-29-1991 at the center. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, had charge of arrangements. She was born 7-16-1908 in Anchor, a daughter of Chris and Claudina Bielfledt Schmidt. She married Albert C. Thedens 10-11-1928 in Anchor. He died 5-9-1989. Survivors are three daughters, Delores Taylor, Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; LaVon Thedens, Bloomington; and Joan Keim, Gibson City; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; and one twin sister, Ella Clausen, Gibson City. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Thedens and her husband farmed in the Anchor area, retiring in 1956. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, its Dorcas Society and Anchor Friendship Club.
THEDENS, Louis P.
Gibson City Courier, 1943 - Louis P. Thedens, 46, died suddenly at 5 a.m. Sunday at his home following a heart attack. The body was taken to the Wilhoit Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, of which he was a member. The Rev. H. Harms will officiate; burial will be in the church cemeetry. He was born 7-17-1897 at Anchor, the son of Hans and Mary George Thedens. On 8-14-1929 he married Miss Mabel Barnett/Burnett of Saybrook, Il, who with a daughter, Marilyn, 8, survives. Also surviving are his parents; the following brothers and sisters, John Thedens and George Thedens of Colfax, Il.; Charles Thedens of Gibson City; Mrs. Anna Borchers of Gibson City; Albert Thedens and Mrs. Edna (Rhiney) Stroh of Anchor Il. Mr. Thedens was a highway commissioner of Anchor Twp for 11 years and at his death was salesman of industrial equipment for the A.E. Hudson Co.

The funeral of Mrs. Mary Thedens, 89, who died at 4 p.m. Monday 7-13-1964 in Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor, with the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Harper Funeral Home, Colfax. Mrs. Thedens was born 12-3-1874, at Anchor, a daughter of Henry and Margaret Schleeter George. She was married on 11-30-1893 to Hans Thedens, he died in 1962. One son also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Anna Borchers and Mrs. Edna Stroh, both of Gibson City; four sons, John of Bloomington; George of Colfax; Charles of Gibson City; and Albert of Anchor; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thedens was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, and a charter member of the Ladies Aid Society.

Roy Thompson, 90, a retired painter and paper hanger, died at 5:10 a.m. Wedneday (Aug. 16, 1979) at St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Center, Bloomington, where he had been a patient for two days. He had been in failing health for several years. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bruce Memorial Home, the Rev. Bruce Badger officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight. He was born Feb. 24, 1889, at Cooksville, a son of John Henry and Eveline (Morgan) Thompson. He married Mildred Wahls June 22, 1929, at Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Raymond, LeRoy, and John, Maroa; and five grandchildren. Mr. Thompson, who had spent his life in LeRoy, formerly was emloyed by Crumbaugh Oil Co. and the former Eureka-William Co., Bloomington.He retired as a self-employed decorator in 1959. He was an Army veteran of World Was l and served in France and Germany. He was a member of the LeRoy Golden Hour Club. He was a former member of the LeRoy American Legion Post, Masonic Lodge and Sportsmens Club. Memorials may be made to the LeRoy Ambulance Service.

John Trankar, 91, of Elk Grove Village, formerly of Cooksville, a retired truck driver, died Friday 10-1-1993 at his home. His graveside serevice will be at 1 p.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon - 1 p.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village has charge of arrangements. Mr. Trankar was born 5-5-1902 in Denmark, a son of Peter and Johanna Dybker Trankar. His first wife, Lillie, preceded him in death. He married Karen M. Andersen, who survives. Other survivors include a son, John Paul Trankar, Orland Park; a daughter, Nancy L. Adcock, Anchor; and 11 grandchildren. Mr. Trankar had been a driver for Lang Ice Co., Chicago. He had lived in Cooksville for several years before moving back to the Chicago area. He was a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church, Elk Grove Village and the Danish Brotherhood in America 36.

Lillie M. Trankar, 65, a resident of Cooksville for 7-1/2 years, died Tuesday 2-12-1980 at Augustana Hospital, Chicago. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service. She was born 1-31-1915, a daughter of Alvin and Nora Waites Underwood. She married John Trankar. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Paul, of Downers Grove; a daughter, Nancy Adcock, Cooksville; three brothers, Alpha, Maurice and Earl Underwood; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Gertrude J. Vail, 80 of Bloomington, formerly from Anchor, died at 1:05 a.m. Friday 1-8-1982 in St. Joseph's Medical Center, Bloomington. Her funeral was January 14 at 11 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, with Rev. Alexander Youck officiating; burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Duffy - Pils Memorial Home, Colfax and for one hour before the service at the church. She was born 8-3-1901 in Anchor, a daughter of Edward and Elise George Riecks. She married Almon Vail 6-28-1924 in Chicago. He died in August 1956. Surviving are a son, Ronald, Alpine, Cal.; five sisters, Anne Marrin and Lillian Larson, both of Bloomington; Marie Bielfeldt, Colfax; Irma Mueller, Los Angeles, Ca.; Rita Riecks, San Angelo, Texas; and six grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded her in death. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor and the Bloomington Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Vail and her husband formerly owned and operated Vails' Restaurant in Anchor.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Saybrook. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. VanWinkle died at 10 p.m. Tuesday 1-16-1996 at home. He was born 1-14-1940 at Saybrook, a son of Edward J. VanWinkle and Dorothy Burke VanWinkle Wrench. He married Linda Schultz on 8-8-1975 at Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Jon VanWinkle of Watson; a daughter, Cathy Oloffson of Normal; a granddaughter; two brothers, Ervin VanWinkle of Fairbury and Larry VanWinkle of Campbell Hall, NY; and three sisters, Dottie Cope of LeRoy, Dixie Curris of Downs and Mary Smallen of Hobart, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son. Mr. VanWinkle was a diesel mechanic at Coile's Garage in Saybrook for 31 years. He had served as a Saybrook village trustee and assistant fire chief of the Saybrook Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Wesbein United Methodist Church, Saybrook. Mr. VanWinkle set a record for free throws made in a single game of the McLean County Basketball Tournament in 1959; his record still stands. Mr. Wahls died at 9: 45 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 23, 1994) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. He was born Sep. 5, 1905, at LeRoy, a son of John C. and Irene B. (Phillips) Wahls. He married Clara Thompson July 4, 1938, in Bloomington. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Mildred McGrew, Bloomington; one sister, Mildred Thompson, LeRoy; three brothers, Jack Wahls, Lexington; Glenn Wahls, Bloomington; and Irvin Wahls, Morton; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon and evening at the Stensel Funeral Home in Saybrook. Mr. Wahls was born Aug. 18, 1892 at LeRoy, a son of John C. and Belle (Phillips) Wahls. He married Elizabeth Roach at Thawville in 1920. She died in 1963. Survivors are a son, Donald F. Wahls, of Fort Leonard Wood, MO., Recreation Area; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Janis) Mallon, Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren; five brothers, Glenn J., 1207 West Miller, Bloomington; Charles, 706 W. Wood, Bloomington; Ervin, Hopedale; Russell, Gridley; and Earl "Jack" Wahls, Lexington; a sister, Mrs. Roy (Mildred) Thompson, LeRoy. She married John Wahls Oct. 1, 1892. Memorials may be made to the LeRoy Emergency Ambulance Service or to the Irvin E. Wahls memorial fund. He was born Aug. 25, 1914, in Chenoa, a son of John C. and Irene Phillips Wahls. He married Helen Curry. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Irene (Lyle) Reitz, Bloomington; two brothers, Glenn J. Wahls, Bloomington, and Earl "Jack " (Freda) Wahls, Lexington; one sister, Mildred Thompson, LeRoy; two grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren. The two grandchildren are Rose (Don) Wiltburn, Rutland; and Merkel Gene (Tammy) Davis, Bloomington. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one grandaughter. Mr. Wahls worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co., East Peoria, for 14 years before being injured and taking early retirement because of ill health. He was a member of Hopewell Mennonite Church.

Pantagraph, March 9, 1932, Bloomington, Illinois LEROY - John C. Wahls, 54, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday (March 8, 1932), following an illness of six days with influenza and pneumonia. He was the son of Frederick and Esther Wahls, born May 25, 1868, at LeRoy. In 1891 he married Irene B. Phillips of Downs and the have lived in and around LeRoy Since. Survivors are Mrs. Wahls and nine children, one daughter, Mrs. Roy Thompson of LeRoy, and eight sons, Fred C. of Saybrook and Roy T., John W., Russell A., CHarles H., Glenn J., Irvin E., and Earl H., all of LeRoy and one brother, Andrew J. Wahls of Lancaster, Kan. and six grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

She survives. He was preceded in death by three brothers. He was a member of the First United Church of Gridley and the Gridley American Legion Post.

The funerals have been scheduled for the four Central Illinois people fatally injured in an auto-truck collison Wednesday morning (9-1-1982) at a rural intersection 2-1/2 miles north of Gibson City. The victims wre Frank G. and Beverly A. Walker, and their 2-year-old daughter, Ashleigh A., all of rural Sibley, and Joshua R. Christensen, 3 of RR 1, Anchor, a passenger in the Walker auto. Injured in the accident were Christopher Leake, 24, Sibley, and Aaron Walker, 4, who was in serious condition late last night in the intensive care unit at Burnham Hospital, Champaign.
WARSAW, Ernest H.
Ernest H. Warsaw, 69, of Colfax and formerly of Anchor, died at 1:35 a.m. Thursday 3-20-1986 at his winter home in Venice, Fla. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, near Anchor, the Rev. Melvin Blobaum officiating; burial was in the church cemetery (cremains). Rawles Funeral Home, Venice was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Warsaw was born 9-29-1916 in Anchor Twp, a son of William H. and Lena Kalmbrunn Warsaw. He married Betty Landau in 1946. She survives. Other survivors include a son, James, Chesterfield, Mo.; two brothers, Howard, Minier; and Arthur, East Peoria; three sisters, Edna Bachtold, Sibley; Esther Winterland, Fairbury; and Marjorie Schurr, Bloomington; and two grandchildren. He owned and operated a garage in Anchor until 1958 when he took over the Chevrolet dealership in Colfax. He moved to Colfax in 1963. He retired in 1976.

Glenna H. Warsaw, 66, Saybrook died at 1:25 a.m. yesterday 4-16-1984 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 tonight at Duffy - Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, and for one hour before the service at the church. A prayer service will be at 8 tonight at the funeral home. Mrs. Warsaw was born 12-17-1917, in Secor, a daughter of Henry and Frieda Rippel Hasselbrock. She married Lewis Bielfeldt in 5-11-1941 in Anchor. He died 6-24-1942. She married Stanley W. Warsaw on 5-30-1947 in rural Anchor. He survives. Other survivors include her mother, Gibson City, a daughter, Rona McConnell, Saybrook and a brother Herman Hasselbrock of Saybrook. Mrs. Warsaw had lived in the Anchor - Saybrook area for 36 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, and the Dorcas Society.

Emma Wichmann, 91, of Colfax and formerly of the Anchor and Saybrook areas died at 8:50 a.m. yesterday 2-8-1988 at Octavia Manor Nursing Home, Colfax. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 9 tonight at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, with a prayer service at 9 p.m. She was born 4-18-1896 in Anchor Twp., a daughter of Chris and Claudina Bielfeldt Schmidt. She married Otto Wichmann on 1-27-1914 in Anchor. He died 8-27-1969. Survivors include one daughter, Stella Hoffman, Colfax; two sisters, Ella Clausen, Gibson City, and Elsa Thedens, a resident of Bloomington Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Bloomington; one grandchild; and two great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and one grandson. Mrs. Wichmann was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor; the church Dorcas Society and was a Goldstar Mother of the Louis E. Davis Post No 56 ` of the American Legion Auxiliary, Bloomington.

Her funeral was held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church near Anchor, the Rev. Melvin C. Blobaum officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 5 - 7 p.m. Monday at Lamb Funral Home, Gibson City and one hour before the service Tuesday at the church. Pallbearers were Ivan Andreae, Wilbur Molck, Wayne Hanson, Gary Hanson, Mike Finis, and Phil Birkner. Miss Wichmann was born 3-12-1910 in rural Gibson City, a daughter of George and Anna Clausen Wichmann. Surviving are three step-brothers, Clarence Gilmore, St. Charles; Sam Gilmore, Elburn; and Virgil Gilmore, Sugar Grove; and two step-sisters, Grace Bielfeldt, Gibson City and Myrtle Bielfeldt, Anchor. Miss Wichmann was a resident of Gibson City for 16 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor.
WIEBERS, William W.
The graveside funeral of William W. Wiebers, 82, of We Care Nursing Home, Arcola, formerly of the Sibley area, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Anchor. The Rev. Dane Meuschke will officiate. There will be no visitation. Lamb Funeral Home of Gibson City has charge of arrangements. Mr. Wiebers died Monday 7-25-1988 at the nursing home. Born 3-4-1906 in Saybrook, he was the son of Herman and Emma Brandt Wiebers. His survivors include a sister, Frances Neal of Jacksonville, Florida. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He had been a resident of the nursing home for 20 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor.

Mrs. Alvina Willke, 73, died in Tucson, AZ, at noon Saturday 5-31-1969. Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, the Rev. Alexander Youck officiating; burial in the church cemetery. She was born in Saybrook, 7-1-1895, a daughter of Henry andd Mary Hansen Fasking. She was married to Clarence Willke, 2-24-1920 in Saybrook. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Myron, RR1 Bloomington; Marvin, Anchor; Warren, Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Clara Thedens and Mrs. John Brokate, both of Gibson City; and 13 grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
WILLKE, Clarence H.
The funeral of Clarence H. Willke, 90, of Anchor, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor. The Rev. Melvin Blobaum and the Rev. Warren C. Willke, Clarence Willke's son, will officiate; burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Willke, the oldest resident of Anchor and a former twp supervisor died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday 12-6-1987 at his home. He was born 12-14-1896 on a farm south of Anchor, a son of Heinrich Wilheim Gustav and Lina Elisabeth Willecke Willke. He married Alvina Fasking on 2-24-1920 near Saybrook. She died 5-31-1969, while the Willke's were living in Tucson, AZ. He married Dorothy Gash on 9-17-1983 in Bloomington and she survives. Other survivors include three sons, Myron G, Bloomington; Marvin E., rural Anchor; and the Rev. Warren C., Columbus Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Willke was educated in Anchor schools and graduated from Brown's Business College, Bloomington. He was a farmer and grain dealer and operated the Cornerland Farm Hatchery until 1936. He then became manager of the Anchor Grain Co., and continued in that post for the next 26 years until his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the McLean County Board of Supervisors from 1941 - 1949. A lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mr. Willke formerly served on the church council. He also was a church cemetery trustee for 42 years. Mr. Willke was author of histories of the Willke-Willecke and Andreae families, written after his retirement and after travels in Europe to document genealogical information.
WILLKE, Freda P. Payne
The funeral of Freda P. Willke, 77, Bloomington, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 1617 E. Emerson, Bloomington, with the Rev. Knight Wells officiating. Mrs. Willke died at 6:27 p.m. Monday 3-23-1998 at BroMenn Regional Center, after four years of operations and chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. Burial will be in the cemetery of St. John's Lutheran Church of Anchor at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Metzler - Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington and for one hour before the funeral at the Bloomington Church. Mrs. Willke, the youngest of five children, was born 1-30-1921 on a farm near Elizabethtown, NC, as the daughter of William and Elizabeth Hinshaw Payne. She married Myron G. Willke, a retired executive of State Farm, on 4-10-1943 in the Ebenezer Methodist Church, Collingswood, NJ He survives. Mrs. Willke had made elaborate plans for her and Mrs. Willke's 55th wedding anniversary to be held 4-10-1998. Other survivors include two sons and a daughter, Dr. Theodore L. Willke, Inverness, Il; Col. Ronald S. Willke, Denton, Texas; Jeanette M. (James) Vyduna, Johnsburg, Il.; and 7 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Freda's parents and one brother preceded her in death. While living in Collingswood, NJ; Indianapolis, Ind.; Marengo, and Gibson City, Il, she raised her family, taught Sunday schools, was a 4-H Club leader, and did charity work during those moves before settling in Bloomington. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor; Trinity Lutheran Church, and a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, until her death. She worked for 15 years at the Country Mutual Ins. Co., Bloomington, retiring in 1984 as a Claims Secretary.
WILLKE, Elmer
Elmer Willke, a retired farmer, 71, died at 9 a.m. Monday 10-11-1971 at his farm home. He suffered a heart attack and had been ill a year. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church,, Anchor, with the Rev. Alexanader Youck officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. He was born 7-29-1900 at the farm where he lived, a son of Gustave Wilhelm and Lina Elizabeth Willecke Willke. He married Esther Mae Brucker in Anchor, 12-22-1927. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Carl L. Gilroy, Ca.; Harold D., Anchor; nine grandchildren; a brother, Clarence, Anchor. A sister preceded him in death. He was a member of the Anchor school board for a number of years and had served on the board of St. John's Lutheran Church.
WILLKE, Esther Mae Brucker
Esther Willke, 88, of Anchor died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday 6-221-1994 at Octavia Manor Nursing Home, Colfax. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor, with the Rev. George Schlueter officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. She was born 10-27-1905 in Colfax, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Stein Brucker. She married Elmer P. Willke 12-22-1927 in Anchor. He died 10-11-1971. She is survived by two sons, Carl L., Silverton, Ore.; and Harold, Saybrook; three brothers, Elmer, Carl and Clarence Brucker, all of Colfax; a sister, Lorene Gerdes, Onarga; 10 grandchildren; and seven-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. Mrs. Willke was a lifetime resident of the Anchor area. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school; the church's Dorcas Society; the Never Too Old Club, Colfax; the Anchor Friendship Club; the Gibson Hospital Auxiliary; and the McLean County Farm Bureau.
WILLKE, Gustave
Gustave Willke, 92, a retired farmer and Anchor's oldest resident, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday 4-3-1962 at Gibson Community Hospital, in Gibson City following a prolonged illness. He entered the hospital only 20 minutes before his death. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alexander Youck will officiate, and burial in the church Cemetery. Mr. Willke was born at Engerode, Germany, 5-29-1869 a son of Heinrich and Wilhelmina Beutnagel Willke. He came to the United States in 1891 and to Anchor in 1893. He married Lina Willecke at Hoboken, NJ., 2-18-1896. She died in 1950. For 69 years he lived on the same farm south of Anchor. Through the years he visited his homeland six times. Surviving are two sons, Clarence and Elmer, both of Anchor; five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A daughter, two brothers, and a sister preceded him in death. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor.

WINTERLAND, Edith (Petersen)
Edith A. Winterland, 74, of Lexington, died at 12:42 a.m. yesterday 5-15-1988 at St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Center, Bloomington. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lexington, the Rev. Wayne Widdering officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church Tuesday. Musselman-Moore Funeral Home, Lexington is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Winterland was born 9-24-1913 in Cropsey, a daughter of Claus and Rachel Petersen. She married Charles Winterland on 1-12-1937 in Chenoa. He survives. Also surviving are one son, Donald, Normal; a daughter, Charlene Jacobs, Lexington; three sisters, Anna Stroh, Cropsey; LaVerne Harms, Lexington; and Ilene Redding, Colfax; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one brother. Mrs. Winterland was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lexington, and the church's Ladies Aid Society. Memorials may be made to the church.
WOOD, Allie J.
Death of Allie J. Wood Sunday Eve, March 9 Allie J. Wood, youngest son of Amos and Pheobe Wood, was born near Lexington, May 23, 1870. His parents moved to Colfax when he was 10 years of age and he grew to manhood in this vicinity. He was united in marriage to Mina Henline on March 2, 1893 and the new home was made in Colfax. To this union was born one daughter, Ilene, now Mrs. William Scholl. Mr. Wood retired from business and moved to the farm in 1926 which has since been his home. He had been in failing health for a number of years and in February, 1929 he underwent a surgical operation for the dreaded malady for which science has not yet found a cure. He bore his suffeings bravely, shielding his family from anxiety as long as it was possible to do so. When the last hope vanished he became reconciled to his death and was lovingly cared for by his wife and daughter until the end came. Being of a kind and genial disposition he enjoyed the fellowship of a host of friends and neighbors and their help and sympathy was a great comfort to him in his last days. He passed peacefully away on the evening of March 9, 1930, leaving many sad hearts in this community. He leaves besides his wife and daughter, on grandson, Nyle Scholl and one brother, Isaac Wood of Herscher also several nieces and nephews. The funeral services were held from the home north of Colfax on Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. F. De Clark pastor of the Colfax M.E. church. Mrs. Harvey Hamilton and Miss Rickey Grending sang two selections. The pallbearers were Andy and Tom Droham, Fred Scholl, Ivan Getty, Earl Judd and Ralph Harris. Burial was in Wiley cemetery. The Colfax Press, May 1, 1920 The death of Mrs. D.A. Wood occured on Saturday May 1, 1920 at 11:30 am at the Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago after an illness of about a year with Brights' Disease and Pernicious anemia. Elizabeth Green was born at Mason, Ills., May 9, 1870, coming to Colfax in 1880 and was married September 24, 1889 to D.A. Wood of Coflax. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Miss Mabel, two sisters Mrs. Fannie Dale, of Chicago and Mrs. John Pendergast of Colfax and by two brothers, William of Freeport and Charles of Chicago. Funeral Services from the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Pendergast to St. Joseph's church at 9 am on Wednesday. Requiem High Mass sung by Mrs. Walter Pendergast of Roberts and Mr. William Gould of Merna. The pall bearers were five nephews of the deceased, Fred Dale, Leo and William Green, Walter and James Pendergast and Henry Myers.
WOODARD, Dora Susan (Arnentrout)
DEATH OF MRS. WOODARD (APRIL 12, 1901 edition of The Colfax Press) Dora Susan Woodard, nee Arnentrout, was born March 26, 1873 and died April 3, 1901, at the Deaconess hospital, in Bloomington where she had undergone an operation which she had hoped would be the means of relieving her suffering and restoring her to health and vigor. She was married to Wesley Woodard August 31, 1894. Mrs. Woodard was a woman who was well liked by all who knew her; a kind and faithful wife and a loving neighbor, who was always ready to do anything in her power to relieve the wants and cares of those about her. She was a regular attendant upon the services of the church, and a member of the Ladies' Aid, from whom she will be missed for her kindness and assistance. Some two years ago she began to be troubled by a complication of diseases. Last winter she had a very severe attack of the grip, from which she never fully recovered. The immediate cause of her death was heart failure. There survives a mother, three brothers and three sisters at Harrisburg, Va., her husband and one brother of this place. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Friday at 1 pm. The sermon was preached by the pastor from Jer. 15.9. Rev. Cully, pastor of the Presbyterian church, and Rev. Loughbrake, assistant pastor of the M.E. church assisted in the services. The sudden death of Mrs. Woodard enlisted for her husband and friends the sympathies of the entire community.
WOODARD, G. B.
AUG. 22, 1902 edition of The Colfax Press OLD RESIDENT GONE G.B. Woodard died at the home of his son Frank in Colfax on Monday forenoon after several months' sickness, which ended in an attack of paralysis. He was born in Kentucky, in 1819, and came to Illinois fifty years afo. He settled first at Bloomington and later near Fairbury, from which place he moved to this vicinity many years ago. His wife died in 1891. Twelve children were born to them. Five sons and two daughters survive him. They are Frank, and Martha J. McReynolds, of Colfax; Mrs. Mary E. Moberly, and Charles, of Fairbury; James of Kansas; Edward, of Stanford, and Greenbury, of Missouri. One daughter, Mrs. Lavina Wiley, died in Colfax last spring, at which time the father also was very low. He was a member of the Methodist church. Mr. Woodard was one of the oldest residents and best known men, and was universally esteemed in the community. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the M.E. church, Rev. D.G. Murray conducting the services. A large number of relatives and friends were in attendance. The interment was at Evergreen.

Esther Augusta Emily Stroh Wren died 12-21-1991. A native of Anchor she was the daughter of Carl and Martha L. Stubbe Stroh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas. Services and interment were private in Chicago.
WRIGHT, John Franklin
The Colfax Press, June 12, 1924 edition, Colfax, Illinois John Franklin Wright of Lexington died suddenly Wednesday morning of last week at 8 o'clock. He was riding the grader on the road near Meadows when death, due to heart failure, came. John Franklin Wright, son of John and Esther Wright, was born June 2, 1856, east of Lexington. With the exception of a few years spent in Hutchinson, Kansas he had made his home near Lexington all his life. In 1877 he was married to Margaret Wood of Colfax who with two children, Mrs. Russell Taylor and Bert Wright preceded him in death. The surviving children are: Mrs. Grace Robinson and Charles W. Wright both of Lexington. The funeral services were held from the home of his son, Charles W. Wright Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Guy Jordan pastor of the United Brethren church in charge. The misses Flossie and Fern Stamm sang "Abide With Me" and also "Rock of Ages." Miss Helen Whiteman presided at the piano. The pallbearers were Phillip Sterner, Ira Adams, William Barnard, Marion Hutson, Joseph Leach and Maurice Jones. Interment was in the Selma cemetery. Those from away attending the funeral were: Isaac Wood of Herscher; Mr. and Mrs. A. Wood; Mrs. William Scholl and Clyde and Guy Taylor of Colfax; Mrs. Robert Irwin, Mrs. Ben Anderson and Holmes Ferri of Bloomington; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Froelich of Gridley.
YOUCK, Aaron Andrew
Aaron Andrew Youck, age 18 of Pana, died Thursday 2-8-1996 at 4:26 p.m. at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah, Iowa. Mr. Youck was a student at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa where he was majoring in Biology with plans to go into wildlife management. Funeral services were Monday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pana with the Reverend Dean Stolz officiating. A committal service was at 3 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, near Anchor. Mr. Youck was born 6-7-1977 in Springfield. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Dr. Stephen A. and Debra Youck of Pana and his mother and step-father, Kathy Underwood Cowie and Bill Cowie of Peoria. Other survivors include a sister, Amanda Youck at home in Pana and a step-sister, Stephanie; his grandparents, Mrs. Alexander Youck of Gibson City and Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Aileen) Underwood of Gibson City. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, the Rev. Alexander Youck and his step-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Crouch and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Presnell. Mr. Youck was a 1995 graduate of Pana High School. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pana.

The funeral of the Rev. Alexander Youck, 70, of Gibson City, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor. The Rev. Melvin Blobaum, the Rev. Karl Kessler, the Rev. R.G. Mogel and the Rev. Paul Adix will officiate; burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Youck, a retired Lutheran pastor, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday 8-31-1986 at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. He was born 12-1-1915 at Duval, Saskatchewan, Canada, a son of Gottfried and Malia Martin Youck. He married Faith Wilma Hinz on 1-28-1945 in Dubuque, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, David Youck, Onarga, and R. Stephen Youck, Pana; one brother, Wilfred Youck, Regina, Saskatchewan; nine sisters, Katherine Erhardt, Molly Youck, and Dolly Barker, all of Niagara Falls, Ontario; Emma Bauer and Mary Dent, both of Regina, Saskatchewan; Elsie Mossman, Edmonton, Alberta; Bertha Erhardt and Esther Robbins, both of Vancouver, British Columbia; and Hilda Vetter Lincoln, Neb.; and two grandchildren. Rev. Youck graduated from Duval High School in 1932; Luther College, Regina, Saskatchewan, in 1940; Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, 1942; and Wartburg Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa in 1945. He was ordained 1-28-1945 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dubuque. He first served at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, a yoked parish in northwestern Illinois, from 1945 -1955. From 1955 to 1981 he served at St. John's Lutheran Church, near Anchor. When he was honored in May 1980 on the 25th anniversary of his moving to Anchor, he had never missed a Sunday in the pulpit. Even a broken leg in 1963 didn't keep him from serving his church. After his retirement, Rev. Youck continued to serve as interim pastor at several east central Illinois churches. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Gibson City.

Faith W. Youck, 79, of Gibson City died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday 6-6-1999 at Heartland Healthcare Center, Paxton. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Anchor; the Rev. Robert Ferro officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery Association. Mrs. Youck was born 8-9-1919 at Dubuque, Iowa, a daughter of Ernest William and Emma (Gere) Hinz. She married the Rev. Alexander Youck on 1-28-1945 at Dubuque, Iowa. He died 8-31-1986. Surviving are two sons, David (Paulette) Youck, Onarga and Dr. Stephen (Debra) Youck, Pana; and one sister, Hope Adix, Chicago. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew; five step-grand- children; and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Joy Wade; and one grandson, Aaron. Mrs. Youck lived in Hanover from 1945 - May 1955, moved to Anchor until October 1981, and then retired to Gibson City. She was partners with her husband in the Gospel for 41 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor.
