He was a waist gunner in WWII and a James M. Johnson was the opposite waist gunner on the crew (8th Air Force /Crew #31 of the 418th Squadron/ 100th Bomb Group).

They were shot down over Munster Germany Oct. 10th, 1943. My father was wounded and a POW and I believe Mr. Johnson was as well.
