Subject: Burial information required
Hi PatrickI've been following up the information you gave me and I've found
the Patrick Marlow mentioned below on the 1861 census living at
148 Burlington Street. The Head of the household is a Catherine Carney
a widow age 60 who I think may be the mother of Bernard Carney
also shown below. Catherine is no longer with the family at that
address on the 1871 census. The GRO index for these early years does not
show the age of death so it's not very good for trying to locate the
right Catherine I'm looking for. I'm hoping that your records will help by
finding Catherine Carney:Dying between 1861 - 1871
Age approximately 60-70,Many thanks
Terry

Sent: 10 February 2004 10:04:44Hi Patrick,
Hope I find you well, I wonder if you can help me yet again!
I now have the names of Gerald Dillon’s parents
(my great grandparents) and would imagine
that they too would be buried in Ford Cemetery.
Their names are:John and Bridget Dillon.
Can I be of more trouble to you and ask if they are on your list
as being buried in Ford. Although my father became a
catholic his family are CofE. Is there anyone you may
know who may have similar burial records for
Anfield or Allerton Cemeteries?Thank you for you patience and help,
Reply,
There are 10 X Bridget Dillon's
& 42 X John Dillon's in the index.
I need the year of their death to look further.

Subject: RC_cemetery_search_serviceHello Patrick,
I am trying to find the date of death and grave of a very old
friend who I believe died after 1951 She would have been in her
late 60s or early 70s - I was only a child so not a very
reliable age given here. She was a Catholic. The last time I
saw her was in November 1951 when my family migrated to
Australia. We lost touch. She was my Nanny - no relation -
but a very dear friend. Her name was:Annie Stroud (nee Cartwright)
last known address was 25 Roman Street, Seaforth, Liverpool 21.
I would expect she would have been buried at Ford Cemetery
or Thornton Garden of Rest. Can't find anything on the Internet.
I would really appreciate any help you can give me.
Thank You, Margaret in Cairns, AustraliaReply,

Subject: 'Sept03_Hibernia_emails'Hello Pat,
We meet a few weeks ago in Crosby Library, and may I
say that your site is a credit to the dedication of the Group
and their superb work. Very many thanks for all the bits that
I have found out about my own ancestors.I notice from reading
the E-mails that there is mention of local family history
groups/societies. Which is the nearest to me in Litherland?
I have already sent off my membership fee to the Liverpool
& S.W. Lancs FHS, but if there is one close to home it may be
more beneficial. Which society was looking for a new location?
Did they get one? What sort of pictures are you
looking for for the site, as the main thrust seems to be in
the Catholic history of the Scotland Road / Bootle Area?
Can you help? I am searching for a male
relative, who drowned in the canal, in the 1890's. There is a
little conflict with regard to his name - it was either Edward
Holland or Edward Wingate. (We think his mother may have been
married twice). If you could point me in the right direction I
would be most grateful.Thank You once again.
John
Reply,
I'm glad you like the site, it's really good that the work of the
transcribers, indexers & information providers is appreciated,
thank you.The Liverpool Local History Group is run by Mrs Jo McCann, I will
find out were they meet & let you know. Now that you have joined the Liverpool & S.W. Lancs FHS,
they will send you info. re. the different groups. I would
suspect the Liverpool group would be best for you. I am
after any pictures of the Liverpool/Bootle area that show
where Liverpool-Irish people worshiped, lived, worked &
had fun. If you have any pictures that you would like to
donate, that would be great.I am thinking of setting-up a section on the Hibernia web site
were people can publish the history of their Irish ancestors.
Similar to Irish Families in Stafford 1830 to 1919:http://cwis.livjm.ac.uk/soc/families/
Would you like to
be the first to contribute?I have sent you the only three
Wingate's that appear in the RC Burial Index. There are no Edward Holland's in the the burial index for the
1890's, but here are some for the 1880's & early 1900's:Edward Holland

Subject: Re: RC_cemetery_search_serviceHello Patrick,
Many thanks once again. I will send a donation to Cafod (one of my usual
Charities anyway). By the way, what did you send the previous time that I
never received? I had asked about a boy who drowned in the canal and how to
find out about it, and details about local history groups in the Litherland
area.Regards and best wishes
John

the transcribers, indexers & information providers is
appreciated, thank you.The Liverpool Local History Group is run by Mrs Jo McCann, I
will find out were they meet & let you know. Now that you have joined the Liverpool & S.W. Lancs FHS,
they will send you info. re. the different groups.
I would suspect the Liverpool group would be best for you.I am after any pictures of the Liverpool/Bootle area that show
where Liverpool-Irish people worshiped, lived, worked & had fun.
If you have any pictures that you would like to donate,
that would be great.I am thinking of setting-up a section on the Hibernia web site
were people can publish the history of their Irish ancestors.

I think we may have corresponded before. My gggrandfather was
Thomas McGrath who married Margaret Neil c 1840. They had four
sons born in Wexford between 1844 and 1850. I believe
Margaret died in the 1850s and the family came over to
Birkenhead. I know very little about Thomas and Margaret and
I'm trying to trace them in Wexford. Could you do me a big
favour and look up any Thomas McGraths in the Index for the

I have only just found this site so I am not sure how things
work please forgive this novice if I am way off the mark.I went through the list of marriages and found my G/G
grandparents however I do have their certificate they were
married at St Anthonys 12th October 1845 they are Francis
Toft and Julia Ann Purfield, Julia was born in Ireland but it
does not state that on the certificate so I wondered if there
would be any more infomation in the records? The name of the
person on your list is Mary McQuade I would be very grateful

in Anfield I got the information from the web site.I have quite a bit of info for the Tofts but the Purfield/Perfield

help me with will be gratefully accepted.Could you please tell me how much I owe you as I said I have

Subject: RE: John & Bridget DillonThanks Patrick,
I don’t know at the moment what year they died;
I was hoping that theirs would be only plot in Ford which
would have made life a lot easier for me!Only one of their children married who was my grandfather
(Gerald) so maybe one of them could be buried with them? The names of the children and ages in the 1901 census are:
John Son 28
Joseph Son 24
Christina Daughter 21
Michael Son 19 yes
James Son 14
Gerald Son 12
Could this information help in anyway?Best wishes,
AngelaReply,
Do you have any details John & Bridget from the 1881 or 1901 census?
On Gerald's marriage certificate, does it say if his father was deceased?
Do you have any address's for the above?
Patrick,In the 1901 census (page attached), it said that the head of the
household was Bridget, but on Gerald's marriage certificate his father
is not down as deceased, so I can only presume that he was away at the
time of the census. In 1901 they were living at 3 Summer Street and all the family were born
in Ireland (lived in Dublin before moving to Liverpool) except for the
youngest 2 children (James and Gerald).I haven't been to look at the 1881 census yet, but they would have been
living in Liverpool then because the two youngest were born here.Hoping this information will be of use.

either died before 1915 when Gerald got married and on that
certificate John Dillon was still alive or the ages don’t
correspond to what he would have been i.e. too old or too
young. Do you think a child may have died first and they may
be in that grave? Thanks for all your help.

I feel as though I have found a treasure!!! I have been searching for
over forty years and this is the best information I have found. I will
be more than happy to make a donation to a famine relief fund......
I have found in the index the marriage ofPeter Delaney and Catharine Connor ANT (St Anthony's Scotland Road)
Marie McQuade as the owner. Do I now contact her? How do I do that.
Thank you for your assistance.Terry
