WESTERN STORM FATAL TO ONE MAN

DENVER. Colo., April 15.-One man was killed and many others were seriously injured in a severe storm that has swept Colorado and Wyoming.

H. T. Higginbotham, 45, of Stephenville, Texas, was killed on the highway near Greeley, Colo., when he was struck by a Colorado motorway bus.

Saturday Traffic Accidents Kill Two in State

Separate traffic accidents in Denver Saturday claimed two live, boosting Colorado's 1974 highway fatality count to 24 compared to 32 on this date a year ago.

The State Police identified the victims as Guadalupe Garcia, 48, of Denver, and James L. Higginbotham, 53, of Lakewood...

Higginbotham was killed Saturday night when his auto went out of control on a North Denver boulevard, crossed over a center line and skidded into the path of a car driven by David L. Finfrock, 21, Denver. FinFrock was not injured, the patrol said.

Olive Higginbotham (1900-1977) CO

Mrs. Olive Higginbotham, 76, 409 26th Ave. Ct., died Monday, April 18, at Weld County General Hospital where she had been a patient for a few days.

She was born Sept. 3, 1900, at Vernon.

On Sept. 26, 1923, she was married to Lee F. Higginbotham at Holyoke.

They lived in Eaton many years prior to moving to Carbondale about 33 years ago. They came to Greeley three years ago.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge at Carbondale.

Survivors include her husband, Lee F. Higginbotham; a daughter, Mrs. Dick (Willa) Kercher of Greeley; two sons, Lee F. Jr. of Greeley and George S. of Carbondale; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lucy Stephens of Eaton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending at Macy Allnutt Mortuary.

Mr. Higginbotham, 70, died May 31, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a manager at Parts and Body Shop.
Mr. Higginbotham was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo., to William B. and Pearl (Payton) Higginbotham, who are deceased.
He is survived by a son, Scott Bone; two daughters, Cindy Borst and Susan Jensen; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cappadona's Family Service Center, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817.

Leland LeRoy Higinbotham (1913-2002) CO

Leland LeRoy Higinbotham, 89, of Castle Rock, formerly of Akron, died Wednesday at Brookside Inn in Castle Rock. Higinbotham was born Dec. 9, 1913, in Akron to Roy and Letha (Harrington) Higinbotham. He graduated from Akron High School in 1931. He married Marjorie Davisson Sept. 15, 1935, and worked as a mail carrier and at his father's gas station. Higinbotham moved to the Denver area where he worked at Brannen Sand & Gravel, Continental Airlines, the Remington Arms Plant at Lowry Field and then returned to Akron to farm and run the Coast to Coast store. They moved to Fort Morgan in 1973 where he worked as an appraiser for the assessor's office. He moved to Loveland in 1987 and then to Mesa, Ariz., and back to Denver. Higinbotham was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; his parents; a brother, Ivan, and a sister, Darlene. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Brinkman of Pueblo, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his brother, Larry of Pueblo. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. in the Akron Cemetery . Larry Higinbotham will officiate. Olinger Andrews Caldwell Funeral Home, Castle Rock, and the Brenner Funeral Home, Akron, are in charge of arrangements.

Victor Wayne Higginbotham (1954-2004) England/CO
MONTROSE - Longtime Montrose resident and businessman, Victor Wayne Higginbotham, died Sunday evening, June 27, 2004, at the Montrose Memorial Hospital 12 days after celebrating his 50th birthday.
Victor was born in Norfolk, England, on June 15, 1954, the son of Dan George and Jewel (Williams) Higginbotham. He was an infant when he moved with his family on Sept. 2, 1954, to Texas, then relocated to Montrose in 1969. Victor graduated from Montrose High School and continued to pursue his education at Parrent College in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Following his college education, Victor returned to Montrose where he made his home until the time of his death.
He married Sue Chambers on Sept. 1, 1978, in Montrose. After 20 years of marriage, they were divorced.
Victor was the owner and operator of Associated Precast in Montrose since 1991.
He was a member of Montrose Elks Lodge No. 1053.
The love of Victor's life was his family, friends and music. Music played a very important part in his life. Victor enjoyed the outdoors spending time camping, hunting, and with his animals. Precious memories of Victor will always be a huge part of all those who loved him.
Surviving family members who were proud to share Victor's life include a daughter, Heather and husband Tyler Gilliam, of Montrose, Colo.; two granddaughters: Jacquelyn and Ashley Gilliam; his mother, Jewel Higginbotham, of Temple, Texas; two sisters: Karen Hargrove, of Temple, Texas; Diane and husband Richard Cortreras, of San Antonio, Texas; and special nieces and nephews: Jay and Shelly Contreras, Tracie Arwood, Corey Huffman and Freeman Hargrove. His extended family include Joey and Marla Manganello, and Marvin and Terri Yates and wife Terri and son Dominic, all of Montrose, Colo.
Victor was preceded in death by his father, Dan Higginbotham, in 1971.
A funeral service in loving remembrance and to celebrate Victor's life will be officiated by Minister Ronnie Hanna on Friday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at the Montrose Christian Church. Interment will follow in the Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.

Mr. Steven Ray Higinbotham, age 58, formerly of Joplin, passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 at 4:20 AM at the Integris Grove Hospital. Steven was born on August 26, 1952 in Colorado Springs, CO. Mr. Higinbotham served his country in the US Army. Survivors include his sister Vickie Brixey of Jay, OK and a brother Brad Higinbotham of Joplin. Mr. Higinbotham has been taken for cremation with no further service at this time. Arrangements under the direction of the Simpson Funeral Home of Webb City.

Higginbotham, Donna Lee (nee Elliott), went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. Preceded in death by her husband Cyrus Willmore Higginbotham and second husband Robert Hart Harper. Mother of Anne (Bill) Griffith and Lee (Larry) Seidl; grandmother of Brad (Emily) Griffith, Lara Griffith, Abigail Seidl and Christian Seidl; sister of John Clifton Elliott; sister-in-law, aunt and friend. A native of St. Louis, Donna, 86, relocated to Denver in 2001 to be with her family. A graduate of Washington University, Donna will be fondly remembered as a teacher, former active member of Central Presbyterian Church, volunteer at the Paducah, Kentucky Art Museum and avid genealogist. Boyd Higginbotham (1940-2017) IN/CO

Boyd Higginbotham, 76, of Colorado Springs, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017. He was born in Terre Haute, IN on March 27, 1940 to the late Anna-Mary and Curtis Higginbotham. Boyd was a retired business professional, who worked with Springs Transit Department for 27 years. Boyd was an active community member; he enjoyed the great outdoors, and was a very devout man. He enjoyed sharing his beliefs with anyone who was blessed enough to cross his path. He is survived by 3 children, Boyd Higginbotham Jr.; Diane Evans (Tracy), and Orlanda Moore (George), 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby. A private viewing will be held for the family. Anna Maye Grubb Burton Higginbotham (1929-2017) WV/CO

Anna Maye (Burton) Higginbotham, passed away peacefully on Aug. 20, 2017 at University Park Care Center in Pueblo, Colo. Born Anna Maye Grubb, the second of six children, she arrived in this world on Jan. 31, 1929 to Norman and Gladys Grubb of Cunard, W. Va. Her father was a coal miner and her mother was a traditional housewife. Anna Maye married twice during her lifetime, first to Arthur Manuel Burton of Nuttleburg, W. Va. and later, following Arthur’s death on New Year’s Eve, 1986, to Donald Ray Higginbotham of Kansas City, Kan. Sadly Don, too, died in late 2013. Anna Maye was also preceded in death by her father, Norman; her mother, Gladys; and siblings, Hurschell David Grubb, Billy James Grubb, Raymond Bobby Grubb, Lula Belle (Grubb) Mikel and Donald Gene Lanham. Survivors include her daughters, Deanna Marie Handcock, Freda Louise Schmeichel, Carolyn Sue Burgess; her son, Arthur Manuel Burton Jr.; a brother, Norman “Scotty” Grubb; step-sister, Brenda Lanham; half-sisters, Gazelle Gaye Tanner and Angela Faye Pence; step-sons, Scott Higginbotham, Michael Higginbotham and Travis Higginbotham; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. The viewing for Anna Maye will be held at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton on Saturday, August 26 from 1-4 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m. The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel.
