  Florence Madelena Wells, was born at Hamilton, Canada January 18, 1848, where she passed her girlhood. When 18 years of age she came to Pontiac, Illinois, and there was married on January 2, 1871 to John A. Harper. Ten children were born of this union, the two oldest dying infancy; a daughter and seven sons, besides an aged mother and two brothers, live to mourn the loss of a devoted mother and sister. With her husband and family she came to Fairbury, Nebraska 24 years ago last August and nine years ago moved to Kansas where the husband died October 29, 1899. When a girl she was converted and united with the M.E. (Methodist Episcopal) Church, and always endeavored to lead a Christian life. She died January 29, 1904, of tuberculosis at her home in Haddam, Kansas. Her faith in Christ never wavered and she died trusting in the Lord. She was 56 years and 11 days old at the time of her death.
  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Keve at the residence, Sunday morning at 8:30, after which the remains were taken to Fairbury and interred in the family burial lot. The entire community extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved children.
