A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a rosary at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Gwendolyn Aree Wainwright was born on May 15, 1935 in Moline, a daughter of Marvin and Darlene Costigan Wells. She married James Rylander in November of 1955 in Rock Island. She later married Calvin Wainwright on February 14, 1976 in Iowa. Calvin preceded her in death on February 2, 1982.
Gwen attended Alleman High School, she had just celebrated her 60th class reunion. She worked for various branches of Rock Island county as a secretary, most notably the Rock Island County Forest Preserve. She was also a bailiff at the Rock Island County Courthouse, retiring in 2012. Gwen loved spending time with family, Catfish Jazz and volunteering with the Rock Island Democratic Party. She greatly enjoyed music and the social scene.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Laura (Randy) Swanson, Osco, Ill., Steven (Kelly) Rylander, Roseville, CA; grandchildren, Craig and Kirk Rylander, Chicago and Robert and Ellyn Pickett, Moline and a sister, Marlyne (Jack) Carroll, Dublin, Ohio.

The former Ila Faye Ashdown was born
Jan. 26, 1914, in Coe Township, the daughter
of Frank and Neva Woodward Ashdown.
She married Harlan Wells May 4, 1935,
in Coal City, Ill. He died Sept. 6, 2006.
Faye raised chickens and delivered eggs
throughout the Quad-Cities area. She was
a member of the Church of the Cross, where
she served as treasurer for many years.
She had been an election judge.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, canning
for the family and cooking family dinners.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law,
Carla and Leon Frick, Goose Lake, Iowa,
and Barbara and Randy Kline, Port Byron;
sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Anita
Wells, DeKalb, Ill., Lanny Wells, Colona,
Kendal and Carol Wells, Branson West, Mo.,
and Bradley and Linda Wells, Port Byron;
daughters-in-law, Cindy Wells, Port Byron,
and Linda Kirklin, East Moline;
17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Wylma Searl, Silvis. She was
preceded in death by sons, Gregory and
Dr. Harlow Wells; sisters, Beryl Spaid
and Aletha Cox; and a brother, Curtis Ashdown.

Alberta was a homemaker. She was a member of South Side Christian Church since 1976, a leader of the Jerome Can Can 4-H Club, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a member of the Sangamon County Home Extension Service.
She is survived by sons, William R. Wells of Jerome, Il and Rodney (wife, Shirley) Wells of Rochester, IL; a daughter, Susan (husband, John) Ferry of Taylorville, IL; One Brother, Earl Campbell of Springfield, Il.; there are 10 Grandchildren; and 11 Great-Grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen, Springfield, IL, where the family will meet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2009, at the Funeral Home, additional viewing will be held at South Side Christian Church from 10:30 AM until time of Service at 11:30 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2009, with the Reverend Jeff Chitwood officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Side South Christian Church, 2600 S. MacArthur Blvd., Springfield, IL.

Constance Wells
C. Constance "Connie" Wells, 92, of Rushville, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at the Heritage Manor South Nursing Home in Beardstown.
She was born Dec. 4, 1906, in Altamont, to the late Albert and Mary Poorman Pierson. She married Harold L. Wells, Oct. 1, 1945, in Rushville. He died Nov. 4, 1983.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Millicent Sayers of Macomb; three brothers-in-law, Russell Wells of Augusta, Keith Wells of Macomb, James Wells of Winston, Calif., numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She attended Southern Illinois State Teachers College in Carbondale from 1924-1926, and received her bachelors of education degree from Illinois State Teachers College, Bloomington in 1931. She then received her masters of arts degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1939. She taught school in Beecher City, for one year, Mendora for three years, Pawnee for 2 1/2 years, Altamont for 5 1/2 years, Sullivan for two years and Rushville for 26 years, retiring in 1966. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rushville; Be-kik-a-nin-ee Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution; Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers Association; Delta-Kappa-Gamma National Teachers Sorority.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Scott Henley officiating. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Cemetery in Brooklyn. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Rushville.
