Miss Burgert and Daniel S. Fisher Married Secretly

Coming as a surprise to their friends is the announcement made by Alfred Paul Burgert of the marriage of his daughter, Miss Jean Evelyn Burgert, to Daniel Sturgis Fisher, which took place April 5 at Dade City. The ceremony was performed by Judge J. H. Sanders and was kept secret until recently. Mrs. Fisher was born and reared in Tampa. She was graduated from Hillsborough High School and later attended St. Mary's College at Raleigh, N. C., where she was a member of Sigma Lambda sorority. Mr. Fisher is a son of the late A. A. Fisher, pioneer Tampan, and Mrs. Fisher, 410 East Buffalo Avenue. He was born in Tampa and received his early education at the English Classical school. He later attended Vanderbilt University at Nashville, Tenn., Rollins College at Winter Park and recently was graduated from the University of Florida. A number of parties have been planned for the bride and groom and upon their return from their wedding trip they will make their home at the Seminole Apartments, 4015 Seminole Avenue.

Miss Gladyce Betts Weds S. Mims, Jr.

Miss Gladyce E. Betts and Samuel P. Mims, Jr., were married Sunday night at 10 o'clock at the home of Judge G. H. Cornelius in a ceremony witnessed only by a few intimate friends. Mrs. Mims is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Betts, 205 West Ohio Street. She is a native of North Brookfield, Mass., and came to Tampa eight years ago with her parents. She is a recent graduate of Hillsborough High School. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Mims, 5710 Central Avenue. He is a native of South Carolina but has lived in Tampa nine years. He is connected in business with the Henderson Baking Company. Those attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Smith, Miss Lesley Risher and Howard Parker. The young couple are residing at 109 West Osborne Avenue.

Miss Laurel Harris and Peter S. Burk Wed in California

Miss Laurel Virginia Harris, daughter of Mrs. S. W. Tutweiler of Memphis, was married Sunday to Peter Stuart Burk of London, England, in the rose garden terrace at the home of Dr. Margaret Levick, at Carmel-by-the-sea, Calif. Mrs Burk has many friends in Tampa, having resided here for eight years. The improvised altar was placed beneath a bower of roses. The bride was given in marriage by H. C. Webb of San Francisco. Miss Sigrid Orhwall was maid of honor and Arthur Bragg of Fresno was best man. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the garden and in the Spanish patio of the house. Guests from San Francisco, Los Angeles and Fresno were present. Mrs. Burk ia a graduate of St. Mary's Episcopal School in Memphis and attended the University of Tennessee and George Washington University. She is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Mr. Burk served as a major in the World War, seeing service in Gallipoli, Palestine and France. He has traveled extensively. After an ocean bridal voyage, Mr. Burk and his bride will make their home in Carmel-by-the-sea. Mrs. Burke is a niece of L. B. Anderson of Winter Haven and granddaughter of Mrs. E. S. Anderson of Auburndale, who late husband was mayor of that city.

Miss Laura Latham, Sam Y. Guess Wed In Home Ceremony

Miss Laura May Latham and Sam Y. Guess were married yesterday morning at 11 o'clock in a ceremony at the home of the bride's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Fred Curtis Latham, 201 Cedar Street, the Rev. Henry Fleurin officating in the presence of members of the bride's family. The ceremony was performed before an improvised altar banked with potted palms and baskets of roses flanked by candelabra holding lighted tapers. The bride was attended by her mother as matron-of-hono. Paul Schmidt was best man for Mr. Guess. The bride was dressed in a two-piece dress fashioned of heavy Burgundy crepe with a Russian blouse finished with a peplum trimmed in mink. Her hat was of black suede felt trimmed in black ostrich and her gloves and other accessories were of black suede. She wore a shoulder corsage of rosebuds showered with valley lillies. The engagement had not been formally announced and the wedding will be a surprise to their friends. The bride was born and reared in Tampa and was graduated from the Hillsborough High School and later the Hatton Business College. Mr. Guess is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Y. Guess, of Brockhaven, Miss., where he was born and reared. He was graduated from the Georgia Polytechnical Institute, is a member of the Phi Delta Theta and Phi Kappa Phi fraternities. He is a former member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, a member of Rocky Point Golf club, Elks club and is a thirty-second degree mason. He came to Tampa nine years ago and is the representative of the General Electric Company here. Mr. and Mrs. Guess left immediately after the ceremony by motor for Miami whence they will go to Key West and Havana. Upon their return, they will make their home at the Carlton Apartments, 611 Horatio Street.

Miss Molly Wood and Douglas Snow Marry in Church

Miss Molly Wood and C. Douglas Snow were married yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. C. W. Duke, pastor, in the presence of the immediate family. The bride, who was unattended, wore a tailored frock of bottle green flat crepe, with a close fitting black felt hat, and black accessories. She wore a shoulder corsage of sweetheart rosebuds. The bride, a native Tampan, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Wood, of 912 North Edison Avenue. She attended Plant High School. Mr. Snow, also a native Tampan, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Snow or 3408 Tenth Street. He attended Hillsborough High School. After a short wedding trip, the couple will reside at 2918 Ola Avenue.

Mother Announces Marriage of Miss Buzbee, of Gibsonton.

Mrs. W. O. Buzbee, of Gibsonton, has announced the marriage of her daughter, Miss Annie Byrd Buzbee, to G. C. Gordon, which took place there September 28. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon are now on a wedding trip in Georgia and upon their return will resided temporarily with the bride's mother. Several parties have been planned for them. The bride is a native of Florida, and Mr. Gordon, formerly of Tennessee, has made his home in Gibsonton for the last two years.

Miss Miss Gladys Bullen, Luther Busbee Wed

Mrs. Gladys Marie Bullen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Smith, 202 Eagle Street, and Luther E. Busbee were married yesterday afternoon at "The Tree," home of Dr. H. F. Tolle, pastor of the First Methodist Church, who performed the ceremony. A group of friends and relatives witnessed the ceremony.

The bride wore a frock of light blue georgette made with a long blouse and circular skirt featuring an uneven hemline. She carried an arm bouquet of pink rose buds and valley lillies.

Mrs. Busbee is originally from Wilmington, Del., but has made her home in Tampa for the last three years.

Mr. Busbee, who is originally from Atlanta, has lived in Tampa for the last year. He and his bride will go by motor on a short wedding trip, returning to Tampa about Sept. 10 after which date they will be at home at 3110 Horatio Street.

Miss Rachel DePerry

Miss Rachel DePerry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph DePerry who will wed Isidor Sedita at the Church of Most Holy Names this afternoon at 5 o'clock. Mrs. L Lucito will be her matron of honor, and Miss Mary Culnelli will be maid-of-honor. A reception will be held at the Knights of Pythias hall after the ceremony.

Tampa Man Weds Former Chattanooga Girl Here

Miss Mary Evelyn Busbee became the bride of E. W. Monrose, Jr., on Nov. 28 but the marriage has been kept secret. Announcement of the marriage has been made by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Busbee, 4125 San Jose Street.

Mrs. Monrose has made her home in Tampa about two years, coming originally from Chattanooga.

Mr. Monrose is the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Monrose, of 911 South Orleans avenue. He attended Sacred Heart academy and the Hillsborough High school. He is associated with his father in the insurance business. Mr. and Mrs. Monrose are now at home to their friends at 3311 Bay-to-Bay boulevard.

Miss Casilde Lopez and Dr. Y. Garcia Will Wed Tonight

Miss Casilde Lopez will become the bride of Dr. Y. M. Garcia this evening in a ceremony at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Ana Lopez, 2111 Thirteenth avenue, at 9 o'clock. Charles Naya will perform the ceremony with the bridegroom's brother, Dr. P. N. Garcia, and Moises Lopez, cousin of the bride, attending.

Miss Lopez was born and reared in Tampa and her fiance is also a native Tampan. He is a son of Jose Garcia. He graduated from Southern Dental College in Atlanta and since has been engaged in the practice of his profession here.

Miss Maria Pamies, Sergio Martinez Are Wed in Church

Miss Marie Pamies and Sergio Martinez were married at Our Lady of Mercy church last night at 8 o'clock, the Rev. Father Angel Mardotte, officiating.

The church chancel was banked with palms and ferns and gladioli in various colors were arranged in baskets at each side of the altar.

The bride entered with her father, A. L. Pamies, by whom she was given in marriage. Her wedding gown was of white crepe satin made with fitted bodice and full skirt of Chantilly lace arranged in ruffled tiers to give an uneven hemline. Clusters of orange blossoms trimmed the dress and the veil of tulle, which was in coronet design. Her flowers were bride's roses showered with valley lilies.

Miss Claire Pamies, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Miss Marian Potter, of St. Augustine, Miss Amelita Escalante, Miss Julite Escalante and Miss Josephine Suarez were bridesmaids. Miss Pamies wore a frock blue taffeta made with ruffled skirt and bertha collar trimmed with silver. Her hat was of horsehair braid in matching blue as were her slippers. The bridesmaids dresses were fashioned alike with tight bodices and full hooped skirts trimmed with wide bands of ecru lace, and all wore picture hats of horsehair braid to match their dresses, matching slippers and carried arm bouquets of pink roses. Miss Potter wore orchid, Miss Ameita Escalante wore yellow, Miss Julita Escalante wore green and Miss Suarez was attired in salmon pink.

Marguerite Sanchez, the flower girl, wore a white tulle frock trimmed with ruffle. Aurilio Prado was best man and Armando Escalante and the bride's brothers, Durbec Pamies, Frank Pamies and Luis Pamies, were Mr. Martinez' other attendants.

A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Pamies, 312 Seventh Avenue, after the ceremony, after which the couple left for a short wedding trip. The bride traveled in a navy blue georgette ensemble with which she wore beige accessories.

Mrs. Martinez made her home in St. Augustine until several months ago. She is a graduate of Ursuline Academy, at Columbia, S. C. Mr. Martinez, who is the son of Mrs. Blanca Martinez, is connected with a local cigar concern.

Isabel Fernandez And Philip Vento Will Be Wed Today

Miss Isabel Fernandez and Philip Vento will wed this afternoon at 4 o'clock at Our Lady of Mercy church, the Rev. Father Bergoma officiating. Palms, baskets of pink roses and white candles in cathedral candelabra will decorate the church.

Miss Katie Ficcio will sing "Ave Maria," and Prof. Jose Goyanes, organist, will assist with the program of nuptial music. The bride will be given in marriage by her father, Victor Fernandez. She will wear a gown of white satin with fitted bodice and full skirt extending into a train at the back. Her veil of tulle is edged with lace and wil be held in place by a cap of orange blossoms. Her flowers will be roses and valley lilies in shower-bouquet.

Mrs. A. Vaglica, matron of honor, will wear a white georgette dress made with fitted bodice and a circular skirt, a white hat, and will carry an arm bouquet of white roses.

Mrs. M. Capello, bridesmatron, will wear white georgette trimmed with lace and carry white roses.

The bridesmaid will wear orchid tulle frocks with silver lace bodices and carry pink roses. The bridesmaids will be Miss Mary Vento, Miss Adella Gallo, Miss Ida Vergara, Miss Millie Caltageroni, Miss Pauline Gonzalez, Miss Angelina Liseo, Miss Rose Maniscalco, Miss Josephine Placia, Miss Angie Scolaro and Miss Frances Cacciatore.

Miss Lucile Vento, Miss Mamie Vagilaca, Mis Cina De Perry, Miss Katie Maniscalco and Miss Lily Pullaro, who will also attend the bride, will wear period frocks of pink and Julitte caps of pink tulle. They will carry shepherd crooks entwined with ribbons and pink roses.

Katie Cappello and Annie Lazzara, flower girls, will wear white tulle frocks and carry French arm baskets filled with flowers. Bootsy Vento, sister of the bridegroom, and Frances Maniscalco, who will be ring bearers, will be dressed like the bride and bridegroom, and Katie Vaglica will be dressed to represent cupid in tights of Nile green, and she will carry a ribbon-entwined bow and arrow.

Joe Vaglica will be best man and the bridegroom's other attendants will be Abel Alvarez, Joseph Cicarello, San Vento, Joe Licata, Tom Fernandez, Joe Antinori, Bennie Lazzara, Tony Puglisci, Joe Lazzara and Paul Antinori.

A receptio will be held at St. Joseph's academy after the ceremony, after which the couple will leave for a wedding trip. They will made their home at 2710 Poplar avenue, Suburb Royal, when they return.

Miss Fernandez is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Fernandez, 1606 Ninth Avenue. She was born here and was graduated from St. Joseph's academy. Mr. Vento, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Vento, is a native of New Orleans, but has lived here for more than two years.

Vey Thompson Is Wedded To George A. Ralston, Jr.

Announcement was made yesterday of the secret marriage of Miss Vey Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Thompson, 6001 Suwanee avenue, and George A. Ralston, jr., which took place July 13. The young couple are now on a short wedding trip from which they will return to reside at 508 East Giddens avenue. The bride was born and reared in Florida and her husband, who is originally from Georgia, has been connected with the Tampa Electric company for the last nine years.

Miss Roma Haines To Wed Today at Valley Forge, Pa.

Mrs. A. H. Stahl of 310 South Delaware Avenue has announced that the marriage of her daughter, Miss Roma M. Haines to Herman H. Pevler will take place at noon today at the Memorial chapel at Valley Forge, Pa. Miss Haines was a resident of Tampa several years ago and was connected with The Tribune. Since leaving here she has been connected withthe William Penn high school at Yorktown and the Verona school. Mr. Pevler is connected with the Pennsylvania railroad. The couple will go on a wedding trip through Canada and will reside at Middletown.

Miss Leila Brown And T. J. Eagan Wedded in Church

Miss Leila E. Brown and Thomas J. Eagan were married last night at 7 o'clock by the Rev. R. L. Allen at the Seminole Heights Methodist church. Due to a recent bereavement in the bride's family the ceremony was simple.

Palms arranged back of the pulpit formed an effective background form floor baskets of yellow gladioli and cathedral candlesticks holding creamy tapers. Preceding the ceremony a program of organ music was given by Mrs. George Hayman, Mrs. Tom Watson sang "I Love Thee" (Grieg) and "Another Hour With Thee" (Vamderpool) and Miss Eleanor Upmeyer san "For You Alone" (Geehl) and "Because" (D'Hardlet).

The bride who was unattended was married in her traveling suit of midnight blue silk crepe with an eggshell blouse, matched by her accessories. Her hat was a spring model of midnight blue straw with touches of eggshell and she wore a corsage of sweetheart roses and valley lilies. The bridegroom was also unattended. Malcolm Hall and W. J. Bivens acted as ushers.

Immediately after the ceremony the bridal couple left by automobile for a honeymoon trip through the state. They will be at home after June 10 at the Hillsborough court apartments. Mrs. Eagan is the daughter of Mrs. Emmett E. Brown of 205 West Hanna avenue. She is a graduate of Hillsborough High School and has been secretary of Memorial Junior High School for the last two years.

Mr. Eagan is the son of Mrs. Mary Turner of Massachusetts. He is a native of Portsmouth, Va., and a graduate of Dickinson University at Williamsport, Pa., and McGill University of Montreal. He is a member of the Kappa Delta Phi fraternity.

MRS. HERMAN MERCER CLAYTON

who before her marriage Feb. 18, was Miss Elizabeth Hutchingson, formerly of Lake City. She and her husband will make their home in Jacksonville, after a brief visit with the latter's mother, Mrs. Leila Clayton, 614 South Oregon avenue.

BUZBEE-DENSON

GULF CITY, Aug. 8.-A very pretty event took place at Gulf City Mission House on the evening of August 5, when Miss Hattie Leoni Denson and Mr. N. B. Buzbee were married by Rev. Mr. Barber of Ruskin and in the presence of their many friends. After the ceremony the happy couple, with their friends, proceeded to the new home near the Gulf City picnic grounds, where refreshments were served and a most enjoyable time spent. They were the recipients of many useful presents and best wishes of all the community.

Married.

Mr. Harrison Messer and Mrs. Martha Rodenberry were married Tuesday at the home of Mrs. W. W. Messer, at Woodlawn, by Col. Henry Rickards , the genial Notary Public and pedagogue. The marriage was effected in the presence of a large number of friends and well-wishers of the contracting parties. Prof. Rickards performed the ceremony in his usual impressive manner.
