Hough Cemetery near Shelbyville
Hough Cemetery
Sugar Creek Township,
Shelby county, Indiana
near Red Mills, north of Boggstown, close to
Shelbyville.
Newly Updated! New Information was added on March 30th
- 31st, 2003
This old cemetery is apparently no longer cared for and is among the many
thousands in this country, of those which are now abandoned and forgotten
burials. Efforts should be made to preserve these old cemeteries. Many of these
stones are now in terrible shape, worn away by the elements and some cracked ,
chipped and broken, so that the names and dates can no longer be read. Much
thanks of appreciation for those who recorded the information years ago before
the information was lost for all time, as we can now identify at least some of
these people whose names and dates are now extant from their Grave Stones. It is
a testimonial to the importance of recording and keeping ALL cemetery records.
We owe a debt of much gratitude to those who silently, and often anonymously,
work to find and record genealogical information. In all kinds of weather, they
trek through old forgotten cemeteries, recording the names and inscriptions of
the dead for future generations, lest we & our loved ones become numbered among
the throngs of the forgotten.. - t.a.d. 2003
