I don't know much of anything about Tom. He was born
to Hiram Noah Evans and Julia D. Tooten Evans on November 25, 1875, in the
Union Community southeast of Plantersville, Mississippi. His father
passed away when he was only fourteen years old, and his mother had a hard
time raising the children on her own. Thankfully, Julia had her sister
and brother-in-law living nearby and all their children were very close with
Tom and his siblings. In fact, some of them had the same names!
Tom married a girl from the Union Community, Sula "Sudie" Mozley, the
daughter of Marion Mozley and Nancy Walker Mozley. They had also come
from Marion County, Alabama before they moved to Lee County. Sudie
Mozley's second cousin, James Coleman Mozley, had married Mary Jane Evans,
a first cousin, once removed, to Tom. Sudie was born on September 5,
1880.
Tom and Sudie had at least five children together, but only two of them
reached an adult age. Unfortunately, Sudie did not have a long life.
She passed away at the young age of 35, just four days after
the child she bore miscarried. She passed away on December 30, 1915.
She was buried in the Union Methodist Church Cemetery.
I do not know if Tom remarried, but he passed away on August 25, 1948,
at the age of 72. He was also buried in the Union Cemetery.

Sophia Isolene Evans
(md. Thomas Madison Hussey Sr.)
Isolene was born on February 10, 1905, in Lee County,
Mississippi. She was the oldest child that we know of of Tom and Sudie
Evans. She grew up in Plantersville and married Tom, who was a couple
of years older than her. Together, they had seven children. Isolene
was a seamstress and a homemaker. Tom passed away at the age of 55
on January 14, 1959. Isolene passed away at age 87, on September 25,
1992, in Columbus, Lowndes County, Mississippi. They were both buried
in the Union Methodist Church Cemetery outside of Plantersville.
