Sarah Frances Irvin
Sarah Frances Irvin Jones

Sarah Frances Irvin was born on November 22, 1869, in Lamar County, Alabama, the ninth child of Tillman Jefferson Irvin and Lettie Mahala Webb Irvin.  Her mother was 40 and her dad 41 when she was born.  She grew up near the border of Monroe County, Mississippi, and Lamar County, Alabama.
On January 22, 1897, in Lamar County, at the age of  27, she married K.C. Jones, who was actually a few months younger than she was.  The census recorded the family this way in 1900:

1900 Lamar County, Alabama Census
Pine Springs; Household # 24
Jones, K. Md. 4 years Mar. 1870 AL AL AL
Jones, Frances Nov. 1869 AL SC TN
Jones, John A. Apr. 1899 AL

She had four sons in all.  Their first child was a daughter, who was born late the first year they were married, but she died in her sleep before she reached her first birthday.

K.C. got an infected tooth at age 56 and died, in about 1926.  He was buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Lamar County.  She continued to raise the children and lived with her son Tillman when she was older.  Her grandchildren remember her as being as sweet as an angel when they were growing up with her in the house, but she moved around between her sons' homes for a while because she would get fed up with one set of them and move to the other for a spell!  In her older years, she married a man from Gattman whose name was Filippo, but she didn't have any children by him.

She passed away in August of 1960, at the age of 90.  She was buried in Wesley Chapel also.
