Sarah Frances Irvin was born on November 22, 1869, in Lamar County, Alabama,
the ninth child of Tillman Jefferson Irvin and Lettie Mahala Webb Irvin. Her
mother was 40 and her dad 41 when she was born. She grew up near the
border of Monroe County, Mississippi, and Lamar County, Alabama.
On January 22, 1897, in Lamar County, at the age of 27, she married
K.C. Jones, who was actually a few months younger than she was. The
census recorded the family this way in 1900:

She had four sons in all. Their first child was a daughter, who
was born late the first year they were married, but she died in her sleep
before she reached her first birthday.
K.C. got an infected tooth at age 56 and died, in about 1926. He
was buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Lamar County. She continued
to raise the children and lived with her son Tillman when she was older.
Her grandchildren remember her as being as sweet as an angel when they
were growing up with her in the house, but she moved around between her sons'
homes for a while because she would get fed up with one set of them and move
to the other for a spell! In her older years, she married a man from
Gattman whose name was Filippo, but she didn't have any children by him.
She passed away in August of 1960, at the age of 90. She was buried in Wesley Chapel also.
Myrtle Jones (died as infant)
Myrtle was born November 12, 1897. She died in
her sleep in less than a year though, passing away on February 12, 1898.
John Acker Jones (md. Estella Fredrick)
John Acker was born April 12, 1899, in Lamar County, Alabama.
He lived in Amory, Monroe County, Mississippi and had two children.
He was a cotton ginner in his younger days and ran a grocery store
most of his life. He passed away in January of 1984, at the age of
84. Estella was born in 1902 and ran the telephone exchange in Amory
for a number of years. She passed away in 1992. They are both
buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Amory.
Cecil Tillman Jones (md. Evie Rowell)
Tillman was born on October 17, 1900. He married Evie in
1924, and a decade and two children later, he moved the family to Amory.
He was a railroad worker and lived there until his death from lung cancer in November of 1961, at the age of 61.
He was buried in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Lamar County.
Tommy Jones (md. ?)
Tommy was a barber and lived in Splunge, Monroe County. He was born on August 9, 1903. He died
at about age 40 but had a number of children who still live around the area.
Farris Russell Jones (md. Ollie Mae Aldridge)
Farris Russell Jones was born in Lamar County, Alabama
on November 14, 1907. He married Ollie, who was born Feburary 7, 1900,
and moved to Greenwood, LeFlore County, Mississippi. He had two sons
of his own, Roy and Russell. He died of a heart attack and was buried
at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Columbus, Mississippi. Ollie Mae passed
away in July of 1982, at the age of 82.
