James Franklin Webb, better known as "John," was born April 21, 1853 in Marion County, Alabama.  His father was John G. Webb and his mother, Priscilla Bowles.  He grew up in what is today Lamar County, Alabama and Itawamba County, Mississippi.  Living fairly close to his family, and very distantly related, Pernina Catherine Blaylock, who was almost exactly a year younger than him, must have known him for most of his life.  They married on August 26, 1872 in Lamar County, Alabama, probably northwest of Sulligent, just north of the Buttahatchie River, at Pernina's father's home.  Richard Green Evans, first cousin to John's dad, and also a Justice of the Peace, performed the ceremony.

Their first child, John, was born about a year later in Lamar County.  They continued to live there and raise their family.  Another son, Hiram, followed, along with a daughter named Nancy and another named Lucinda Jane.  The 1880 census found them still in Lamar County:

They continued to have children, but must have moved up to Itawamba County, Mississippi within the next few years.  William Thomas was said to have been born in Mississippi and he was the next child in 1882.  Huston was born a couple years after that, and then another daughter, Milley, in 1888.   Lucian, a son, was born in 1890.  1891 was the year that John's brothers quarreled and Jack shot Dumas.  Two years later, John and Pernina had their last child, a son named Arch.  At some time along the way, Pernina lost some children.  Either they were stillborn or did not live past their childhood.  If the 1890 census survived, we might know of some of them, but we probably never will now.  The 1900 census catches them in Itawamba County, Mississippi still, in the Clay community.

At some point after 1900, probably early within the next decade, John and his family moved to Oklahoma.  Some of the children didn't come at first, but eventually they all did.  He was found in 1910 on the Kully Chaha area, on page 81.

John lived quite a while after he moved to Oklahoma.  On October 21, 1924, he died in the community of Cedarville, LeFlore County, Okahoma.  He is buried in the Monroe Cemetery there.  He was supposedly living with his son, Hiram, and his family at the time.
Poteau Daily News and Sun
October 23, 1924

"Uncle Frank Webb was laid to his last rest Tuesday.  He had resided in Monroe about 30 yrs. bringing up a family on a small farm between here and Gilmore.  The end came at the home of his son Hiram, three miles east of Monroe. "

Pernina lived a bit longer, but on March 3, 1926, she too died.
