Abraham Williams became a proprietor of Marlborough in 1663. He was admitted a freeman in 1652, he married Joanna Ward daughter of William and Elizabeth Ward. He settled in Marlborough near the "Pond", now known as Lake Williams, at the place long known as "Williams Tavern". He represented the town in the General Court and died December 29, 1712. His widow died December 8, 1718 aged 90. The record of this family is very defective, but his will or deed of gift, supplies some of the defects in the records. It is dated December 28, 1712.

He attained the rank of colonel, and in 1775, commanded the 3d regiment of militia of Middlesex and Worcester. He was also a justice of the peace. He d. July 10, 1781, aged 86 years.
