1. HENRY1 KERLEY was born 1658, and died December 18, 1713 in Marlborough, Massachusetts. He married ELIZABETH HOWE Bef. 1677. She died April 26, 1710 in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
Notes for HENRY KERLEY:
Henry Kerly was brother
to William Kerley. William Kerley was early in the Coloney, and was
a man of considerable prominence. He had land assigned him in Pedock's
Island, Nantasket in 1642. Though not an original petitioner, he
became a prioprietor of Marlborough, Massachusetts in 1657 and shared in
the first division of the land.
William was for several years on e of the selectman of the town and was appointed by the General Court in 1667 to lay out a tract of land between Concord, Lancaster and Groton Massachusetts. He died 1684, his will dated 1683 and proved 1684 mentions his wife Anna, daughter of Thomas King. It also mentions his brother Henry, brother-in-law Nathaniel Joslin and father-in-law Thomas King. He gave brother Henry his sword, belts and other arms and his military books, showing that he was a man of war.
There were other Kerleys or Carleys, as the name lately has been written in town. The records are imperfect so as not to be able to trace them perfectly.
Kerley, Kerly, Carley, Cerly, Carlye have all been used to designate this family.
