Massachusetts Historical Commision The MHC administers state and federal preservation programs, including historic preservation planning (such as assisting communities with listing properties in the National Register of Historic Places.
Massachusetts Family History Resources The Archives Division of the Secretary of the Commonwealth's Office is the repository for Massachusetts records generated by state government. Archives holdings date from the beginning of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1628, and document the settlement of lands in Maine and Massachusetts
MASSACHUSETTS CHURCH RECORDS
Archive - Archdiocese of Boston ARCHIVES HOLDINGS  - In keeping with the guidelines of the United States Federal Census, all sacramental records through 1920 will be open to broad genealogical research. The Archives holds the following records for approximately 140 parishes in existence in the Archdiocese before 1920. 
INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE RECORDS
1. Baptisms: Dates of birth and baptism; name of child; names of parents, of sponsors (godparents), and of officiating priest. 
2. Marriages: date; names of parties being married, of two official witnesses, and of officiating priest. 
3. First Communions and Confirmations: date; names of children only and of officiating cleric. 
VISITS TO THE ARCHIVES - You are welcome to visit the Archives BY APPOINTMENT and examine the records held here. The Archives is open Monday - Friday, 10:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., excepting holidays and holy days.

Our members share an online computer system and have combined collections of more than 6 million items.  These libraries have a "share system".
