Thomas A. Holmes, was born in Mississippi in 1837. Thomas snuck away in the middle of the night at age 16 and enlisted in the army of the Confederacy as an 18 year old. In 1862 he died of poison ivy while in the army and is buried in Walnut Lake Cemetery, Desha County, Arkansas. He never married.
