This site is constantly under construction because I am always finding new information on my family. The information on this web site has been gathered from many sources. I have a lot of information to add and corrections to make, please bear with me. I would love to exchange information on any of my family with you. Please contact me at the email address that is listed. I am so grateful for my ancestors -- for the hard ships that they had to endured, the decisions and choices they made to decide to come to Texas. I believe God faithfully works in our lives, sustaining us in difficult times, and working miracles on our behalf. As their descendant, I can give God glory for His mighty power, His tender love, and His absolute faithfulness.
And one generation shall laud Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts. Psalm 145:4.
The side of the family that I am researching is, Harmon Robert Holst from Willenberg, Kreis (County) Ortelsburg (city), Regierungs (district court) Bezirk Konigsberg (capital of East Prussa) (Government District of Konigsberg). He came to Jefferson County Texas about 1846 and became a citizen in 1855. His declaration of intention was Aug. 24, 1855.
He met and married Frederika C. Wendling, she was also from Prussia. Her family came to Texas through Galveston on the ship called Brasilian, October 13, 1850. They had five children: Leroy R., William Carr, Irene Emma, Wilhelmenia, and Helena.
One of Harmon siblings is Oskar Mene Benjamin August Holst. On Oskars birth certificate from Prussia, the name of his father is J.Otto Holst. (the first name is unreadable). A copy of the certificate is below. Harmons mother, Elizabeth is found in Texas census with Oskar.
