"He bought the home farm in Jay, where he lived eleven years and then moved to Wilton, Me. In his younger days he was a successful teacher and afterwards ws for several years a member of the superintending school committee of Jay. After moving to Wilton he was appointed trial justice, which office he held twenty-one years. Both he and his wife were members of the Congregational Church in Wilton where he was for several years superintendent of the Sunday School and one of the deacons of the church. He was living in 1898."³
