Scituate (where they first lived) Mary ROGERS, born at Pembroke 20 Jun
1872, bp. 24 October 1784, dau. of Caleb. [John Rogers of Marshfield, 1898, by Josiah Drummond.] Houghton was recorded as being of Pembroke,
Mass., in 1806. They moved to Leeds spring 1807. He was a farmer of
Leeds, Androscoggin Co., Me. (was Oxford Co. until 1854). He died 29
(28, 27?) August 1862; she died 10 May 1865. [Leeds VR P137] Children

242. VII. Justus SUMNER, born 17 January 1785 at Chester, Vt. He
married at Shrewsbury, Rutland Co., Vt., 1 January 1809, Elizabeth
"Betsey" THOMPSON of Shrewsbury, born 2 November 1786 at Chester, Windsor
Co., daughter of William THOMPSON and Dorcas EATON. They lived at
Plymouth, Windsor Co, Vt. He died 26 August 1822 while felling a tree.
Both buried Plymouth Notch Cem. She married second, Josiah FRINK. [Early Families of Plymouth, Vermont] Children, all born at Plymouth:
i. Eliza, b. 13 Jan. 1810; d. Oct. 1845 by drowning.
ii. Mary H., b. 3 Feb. 1811; m. at Plymouth 13 Feb. 1829 Dennison MINER,

Malvina HICKS.) 12 children; the fifth, Andrew MINER m. Harriet SUMNER,

iii. Esther, b. 1 Aug. 1814; m. 6 Nov. 1835 Noah DAMON, who d. 14 July
1852. When married he was 75 and she was 21, making her the last
surviving widow of a Revolutionary soldier. See stone at entrance to
Plymouth Notch Cem. Esther married later. She died at Plymouth Union,
Vt., 10 Nov. 1906. No C.
iv. Clarissa, b. 9 June 1816; m. 11 Nov. 1838 at Plymouth Calvin
Coolidge SAWYER, son of Joseph SAWYER and Catherine COOLIDGE. Clarissa's
wedding gown is featured on page 56 of To Love and to Cherish published
1989 by Linda LIPSETT. The book indicates that President COOLIDGE was
somehow descended from them.
