in Co H, 39th Reg. He was wounded at the battle of Gaines Mill on June 27, 1862. He was taken prisoner at gaines Mill (Chickahominy), June 27, 1862. He was taken prisoner at Savage Station which was a field hospital during this battle. He was confined at Richmond, VA. from June 30 until July 13th, 1862. He was paroled at City Point, VA July 25th, 1862. For the duration of the war he was confined in the hospital first at the Harewood U.S.A. hospital at the District of Columbia, then to the U.S.A. General Hospital in Chester, PA. He served as a guard.
