Deceased Name: WILLIAM S. HOUGHTON, 86 FITCHBURG - William S. Houghton, 86, of 67 Valdalia Ave., a steel pressman for many years, died Saturday in Mariner Healthcare of North-Central Massachusetts after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Margueritte M. (Shea) Houghton; a brother, Frank E. Houghton of Las Cruces, N.M; nephews and nieces. He was born in Fitchburg, t he son of Allison G. and Laura E. (Brown) Houghton. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1929 and attended an electronics school in Boston. Mr. Houghton was a pressman at Simonds Saw & Steel Co., where he worked for 30 years. He retired in 1973.
He was a member of the Simonds Retirement Club and a licensed amateur radio operator.
At his request, no funeral service is planned. Entombment will be at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., is directing arrangements.
