ObituaryMar 29, 1920Peter A. Houghton, 70, of 109 Farm street, one of the oldest and best known carpenters in Ithaca, died at 9 o’clock Saturday night, at the City Hospital, after a short illness. Besides his wife (Phedora), he leaves three sons, Clarence L. Houghton, Charles Christian Houghton and George E. Houghton, all of this city; two daughters, Mrs. R. C. Warren of this city and Miss Alice Houghton of Brooklyn, and two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Harris and Mrs. Mary Jones, both of Lodi.

Mr. Houghton came here 38 years ago from Lodi where he was born. He had followed the carpenter’s trade in this city since that time. He had been a member of the carpenter’s union since 1890 - 30 years, and was one of the organizers of Carpenters’ Union No. 603 of this city. He served several terms as president, and several times was chosen delegate from the Carpenters’ Union to the Central Labor Union. He also served as delegate to the State Labor Federation.

ObituaryDec 20, 1933Mrs. Phedora E. Houghton, 89, of 109 Farm Street, died this morning. She was the widow of Peter A. Houghton.

She is survived by two sons, Clarence L. and George E. Houghton of Ithaca; two daughters, Mrs. R.C. Warren of Ithaca and Miss Alice Houghton of New York City; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Rev. H.L. Brockway will conduct a private funeral service with burial in the mausoleum at Lake View Cemetery.

She was survived by a sister, Mrs. Anah H. Warren of Ithaca; nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Funeral services were held at Bangs Funeral Home. The officiant was the Rev. George E. Bates, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ithaca. Burial was in West Lodi Cemetery.

Bearers: Richard Evans, Roger Warren, George H. Russell and Mark Stewart.

CHARLES C. HOUGHTON
Brother-in-Law of Mrs. Ward B. Manchester Died in Ithaca

Dr. and Mrs. Ward B. Manchester of No. 42 Tracy avenue have returned from Ithaca, where they attended the funeral of Charles Christian Houghton of that city, brother-in-law of Mrs. Manchester, who died on Saturday, following a six weeks' illness of typhoid fever. He was well-known to several Batavians, having visited this city frequently.

Mr. Houghton was born at Lodi on October 19, 1876. He was graduated from the Ithaca high school in the commercial course in 1894, and entered the employ of Treman, King & Co., Ithaca's largest hardware establishment. He eventually became general manager and member of the board of directors. He was a 32d degree Mason and an Elk. He was a member of the Ithaca Country club, the Rotary club and the United Commercial Travelers, and an honorary member of Ithaca fire company No. 3. Besides his wife, who was formerly Miss Leeta M. George of Lansing, he leaves a son, Charles E. Houghton; three daughters, Virginia, Elizabeth and Roberta; his mother, Mrs. A.P. Houghton, of Ithaca; two brothers, Clarence L. and George E., both of Ithaca, and two sisters, Miss Alice Houghton of New York and Mrs. Richard C. Warren of Ithaca.

Funeral services were held from St. John's Episcopal church in Ithaca and the burial was in the Lake View (sic) cemetery at Ithaca.
