San Diego, San Diego Co., CA, USA, Houghton, Richard G. 06/06/1964 ~ 01/12/2015 SAN CARLOS -- Richard, age 50, passed away peacefully at Palomar Medical Center, Escondido, from congestive heart failure. He was born in La Mesa, CA, grew up in San Carlos and graduated from Patrick Henry High School 1982. He worked at Ametek /Straza in El Cajon; he also worked as a tire tech, and was a good mechanic. "Rick" was very creative and could design, make, or repair most anything. He also loved nature, walking peaceful trails, fishing, and camping. He used to love to ride his horse "Charley" out in the back country. Rick had a kind heart and was always ready to help a friend. Richard was preceded in death by his father Charles L. Houghton. He is survived by his mother Marilyn R. Houghton, brother Charles D. Houghton, sister Julie M. Michael and husband Gary, and his two nephews Kevin and Kyle Michael. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Memorial services will be held: Friday, January 23, 2015, El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego, CA 92121. Viewing at 1:00 P.M Funeral at 2:00 P.M

Sally Jennette Sedgwick Houghton, 68, of the 1500 block of Rochelle Drive, died Jan. 1, 2002, at her residence. She was born in Pasquotank County, N.C., daughter of the late John Richardson and Lyda Jennette Sedgwick. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught at Elizabeth City Junior High School and schools in Virginia Beach before retiring in 1998 from the North Carolina Public School System.

Mrs. Houghton is survived by a son, Richardson S. Houghton and wife Teri Toppings Houghton of Elizabeth City; as well as devoted cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City. Burial will be in Old Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the chapel service in the lobby of the funeral home and at other times at her residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Duke University Cancer Research Center, P.O. Box 3828, Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC 27710 or the Houghton Discretionary Fund of First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 401, Elizabeth City, NC 27907.²
