Oak Point Avenue in History

--- The original Landing Road [from Manida St. to Truxton St.] of the early days on Hunts Point, leading to Leggett's Creek. Oak Point later became a well-known amusement part and resort of the 1890s, noted for its Oak Grove.

Oak Point is a promontory on the East River. From Civil War times to around 1908, it was an amusement park, ballfield, picnic grove and bathing beach. The site is now occupied by the railroad yards above Port Morris.
