Edna Mae Everingham (nee Davidson), 87, of Hopewell Township died suddenly Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at South Jersey Hospital-Elmer, where she had been admitted as a patient a day earlier.
The widow of Kenneth A. Everingham, who died in 1969, she was born in Logan County, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Lee and Lillian Stennet Davidson. She was the oldest of her eight siblings and was the daughter of a Baptist minister. She helped her parents raise her brothers and sisters and as a young adult she moved to the Bridgeton area. A resident of Rosenhayn Avenue for many years she lived at Hopewell Place for the last eight years.
Mrs. Everingham initially worked for the DuPont Company where she met and married her husband in 1947. They had both worked on "The Manhattan Project" prior to their marriage. Mrs. Everingham later went on to work at the former MC Schrank Company in Bridgeton and Armstrong Cork in Millville and its successor, Kerr Glass, before retiring in 1980.
She had been active in the Cumberland County 4-H program and when her sons were younger with Bridgeton Little League and Bridgeton Midget Football. Gardening was one of her favorite hobbies.
Survivors include two sons, Gary M. Everingham, of Hopewell Township, and Gregory B. Everingham, retired Bridgeton police chief, and his wife, Marie, of Upper Deerfield Township; three grandchildren, Bryan Everingham (Alexis), Neil Everingham (Susan) and Megan Davis (Jeremiah); and six great-grandchildren, Cole, Caden, Sophia, William, Kai and Maih. Additional survivors include four sisters, Mary Rose Tralle, of Braytown, Mo., Alice Jo Calhoun, of North Bend, Wash., Shelby Jean Gaines, of Georgetown, Texas, and Carol Sue Koegel, of Anacortes, Wash.; one brother, Edsel Davidson, of Deland, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Harold and William Davidson.

Pastor David L. Strope, of the West Park United Methodist Church, will officiate.
The interment will take place at East View Cemetery in Salem.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:30 until 11 a.m.
