Susanna Everingham gravestone Mt Pleasant Cemetery Millville
Last Edited13 Jul 2014
Birth*7 January 1825Susannah Veal was born on 7 January 1825 at New Jersey; death certificate states she was 67 at death. This implies birth year was 1824.2,3
She was the daughter of David R. Veal and Ann Stewart.4,5
Birthcirca 1830Susannah Veal was born circa 1830 at New Jersey.6,1
Marriage*circa 1843She married Thomas S. Everingham, son of James Everingham and Hannah Whitecar, circa 1843.7
Death*23 February 1891Susannah Veal died on 23 February 1891 at Millville, Cumberland Co., New Jersey, at age 66.2,8
Burial*circa 26 February 1891She was buried circa 26 February 1891 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville, Cumberland Co., New Jersey.3,2
Name Variation Susannah Veal was also known as Susana Vail.9
Note*There are several pieces of evidence that make it reasonable to conclude that Susannah Veal is actually the daughter of David and Nancy (Ann?) Veal of Franklin Twp. as opposed to David and Abigail Veal of Hopewell. The Hopewell household has no female of appropriate age in the 1840 census.
The land sale in October 1860 lists Thomas Everingham and his wife, Sussannah as "of Clayton" providng a tie to Franklin Twp. I have seen no ties to Hopewell.
Name Variation1825 As of 1825, Susannah Veal was also known as Susanna Gail.3
Married Namecirca 1843 As of circa 1843,her married name was Everingham.1
(Witness) Property5 October 1860Thomas S. Everingham was a witness to property sold.10

From Cumberland Deeds 548:389 & 547:369 of 1939 we learn:

Moses Veale of Dividing Creek married Elizabeth, who gained land from a quit-claim among members of the Burt family, heirs of Noah Burt. Elizabeth died intestate leaving children Matilda Veale, who died intestate with her brother and sister gaining her share; William Veale, who died and left things to his two sisters; and Anna M. Terry, who sold these lots.

She owned the first lot as:
1/3 share as heir of Elizabeth Veale
1/6 share as heir of Matilda
1/4 share as devisee of William Veale
1/4 share as heir of William Veale

The second lot, Moses Veale got from Noah and Anna Burt in 1858 (91:497), and Anna ended up with that one as follows:
1/3 share as heir of Moses Veale
1/6 share as heir of Matilda
1/4 share as devisee of William Veale
1/4 share as heir of William Veale

These are the Dividing Creek Veales. William was a trustee of the Baptist Church there, and they are buried there.
