Mary E. Beal (nee Hymer)
Mary E. Beal (nee Hymer), 98, a six year resident of The Cumberland Manor died Friday morning August 23, 2013 at The Manor.
Born in Greenwich and a lifelong area resident, Mrs. Beal was the widow of Harry S. Beal, who died in 1976. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Bertha Orr Hymer.
Mrs. Beal worked as a cook in the school cafeteria at Stow Creek Township School and also worked as a cook at The Cumberland Manor and at Woolworths in Bridgeton. For many years, she assisted her husband with the operation of their family vegetable and grain farm on Causeway Road in Stow Creek. Her home was a gathering place for friends and a hub of family activity for many years. It was not unusual for her to make six or seven pots of coffee on a Sunday morning.
She loved her flower garden and raising chickens and also enjoyed reading. A devoted mother and grandmother, she truly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Beal was a longtime member of the Greenwich Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by four children, Harry E. Beal (Lois) of Salem, Roy Beal (Suzanne) of Greenwich, Alvin H. Beal (Janet) of Salem and Carol B. Cruzan (Dale) of Stow Creek Twp., 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Emma Hymer and a number of nieces and nephews and was predeceased by brothers, Hartley, Joseph and Edward Hymer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Greenwich Presbyterian Church, Ye Greate St., Greenwich on Tuesday morning August 27th at 11 o’clock where friends will be received from 10 until 11.
The interment will take place following the funeral service in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested in Mrs. Beal’s memory to the Greenwich Presbyterian Church, c/o Sue Smith, 982 Ye Greate Street, Greenwich, NJ 08232.

Richard Francis Boylan
October 18, 1928 - June 9, 2012
Richard Francis Boylan, 83 of Bushkill, passed away early Saturday morning, June 9, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Passaic, NJ, on October 18, 1928, he was a son to the late Joseph F. and Gertrude C. (White) Boylan and graduated from Roxbury High School and served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge Richard worked in the shipping department at Picatinny Arsenal, retiring after 33 years of service.
Upon his retirement Richard relocated to Florida for 22 years where he was active in the Reformation Lutheran Church Lakeland, Fl. Richard was a member of the American Legion Rockaway, NJ and the Mount Hope Fire Department, Mount Hope, NJ.
He enjoyed woodworking and the occasional fishing trip, camping, traveling, T.V., and playing horse shoes. Richard greatest joy was his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by two sons: Richard F. Boylan Jr. and John Douglas Boylan.
Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years Bessie Lou (Beal) Boylan of Bushkill; daughter, Karen Gerlich and her husband David also of Bushkill; son, Joseph Boylan and his wife Kathleen of Bud Lake, NJ; sister, Nancy Holmes and her husband Clifford of Toms River, NJ; and a brother, David C. Boylan of Randolph, NJ; grandchildren, Melissa Jaworowski, David Gerlich Jr., Joseph Boylan Jr., and Kayla Boylan; great grandchildren, Joseph David Boylan, III and MaKayla Marie Gerlich, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 3:30 P.M. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg with Rev. Dr. Thomas Richards officiating, from Saint Paul Lutheran Church.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. till the time of service.
Interment will be in Rest Land Cemetery, Hanover, NJ on June 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
