57. Stephen Hoxsie65 was born on 28 Sep 1713 in Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island Colony. He died on 24 Oct 1793 in Richmond, Washington, Rhode Island. He was buried in Friends Burial Ground, Richmond, Washington, Rhode Island. An extract from L. R. Hoxie's "Three Centuries In America"

"Stephen Hoxsie lived near the Friends Meeting house, in East Richmond. he became clerk of the Meeting in 1747, and for 27 years it was his hand which recorded the dealings with debtors, with "disorderly walkers," and noted the proposals of marriage between young Friends, he was a man of influence, and often preached at Meetings. He was made a freeman at Westerly, 4 May 1736. Was Justice of the Peace, Charlestown 1739-41, 1744-45, Richmond 1757.58, Town Clerk 1754-55. Deputy to Rhode Island Assembly 1744."
