Miller Genealogy
Randy McConnell (my cousin) and I have drawn a line of descent as follows: James Miller Sr. (father unknown) b. ca. 1755, d. 1808, m. about 1783 to Abigail Vredenburg/Fredenburg. James moved in 1792 to Delaware County, NY, purchasing land at the present site of the village of East Branch. He died in 1808, leaving a will which mentioned his wife Abigail, sons Solomon,James Jr., Isaac, Col. A., Levi and Earl; daughters Mary (Twaddel) and Phebe (later Roff).
James Miller Jr (James Miller Sr.) b. 1790 Hancock, Delaware, NY, d. between 1855 and 1860 Delaware county, m. about 1808 to Mary 'Polly' Sutton, b. about 1791, d. 25 Feb 1848, dau. of Caleb Sutton. James is last seen in the 1855 NY state census, age 65, living with Dewitt Clinton Miller, his son. The death notice for Polly states that she died 25 Feb 1848, age 57 years, leaving 11 sons and one daughter.

Earl Gregory Miller (James Miller Jr.) b. 16 Jun 1816 in Delaware Co., NY, died 7 Jan 1907 in Antelope Co., Nebraska, married 20 Jun 1841 Walton, NY to Charity
Jane Hawley, b. 24 Oct 1822 Delaware Co.,NY, d. 23 Dec 1907 Antelope Co., NE; dau
of Harvey and Charity Lewis Hawley. Earl was a dairyman and lumberman, sometimes
rafting logs down the Delaware river to market. The family moved in 1855 to Chickasaw
Co., Iowa, and then to Antelope County, Nebraska. Several sons and daughters arrived
in Nebraska about 1870, Earl, Charity and the remaining family members moved in 1883.

Seth Henry Miller b. 3 Jul 1862 Chickasaw Co., IA, d. 27 Mar 1916,
m. 15 Jan 1905 Clearwater, NE to Ida Vilone Foster b. 29 Jan 1876, d. 16 Dec 1938,
Seth was a rancher, stockman and breeder of racehorses. Seth and Ida are buried in
Clearwater cemetery, Antelope Co.

in Floyd Co., IA before moving to Neligh, Antelope, NE in 1946. Both are buried in the
Clearwater, NE cemetery.
