Mrs. Edwina M. Murphy, 93, passed away June 21 at her home on Glenbrook Way, Bishop.
The daughter of Peter and Mary Jane Cressinger, she was born in Milwaukee, Wis., June 14, 1881. She spent her early life in North Dakota, coming to California in 1923. In 1938 she moved to Bishop when her daughter, Kathleen,
began teaching in the high school here. She remained in Bishop for eight years during which she served as secretary of the Improvement Club, worked with the Red Cross, and enjoyed membership in several card groups. After ten years in San Bernardino and
Tacoma, she returned to Bishop where she has made her home ever since.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Tom Wonacott of Bishop; a niece, Mrs. Beatrice Renden of Los Angeles; five grandnieces and nephews, and numerous great and great, great grandnieces and nephews.
A memorial service given by Mrs. Ethel Stokes was held June 25 at Brune-Talmage Chapel, Bishop.
Mrs. Murphy's ashes will rest in Pacific View Memorial Park, Corona del Mar, beside those of her daughter, Vivian Murphy Vilkins.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the L.A. Times Summer Camp Fund, P.O. Box 29, Los Angeles 90053 or to a favorite charity.
