Funeral Services Held For Robert Currie
--
Robert L. Currie, well-known Inyo-Mono resident and a veteran of World War I, died Tuesday evening, May 25 at his home in West Bishop after a lingering illness.
Mr. Currie was born in 1892 at Mono Lake and lived in and around there for many years. He operated a butcher shop in Mono [County], before coming to Bishop.
Surviving the deceased are his wife, Caroline, and four children, Charles, Alice, Fern and Robert Currie; his mother, Mrs. Anna Currie, 94, of Bishop; eight sisters, Mrs. Frances Winter, of New York, Mrs. May Johnson, Mrs.
Nellie Albright, Smith Valley; Mrs. Mary DeChambeau, Los Angeles; Mrs. Annie Miller, Bodie; Mrs Jessie Miller, Independence; Mrs. Alic Bodle, Belvedere Gardens; and Margaret Calhoun, Lee Vining; and one brother, Bill Currie of Lee Vining. Another
brother, Jim Currie, died some time ago. The deceased was [the] youngest member of his family.
A member of the American Legion and other civic groups, Mr. Currie has numerous friends in the Inyo-Mono district, and his passing will be felt keenly by all who knew him.
Funeral services were to be held at the Albright Memorial Chapel this morning at 10 o'clock with the Bishop American Legion officiating. The [remains were] to be sent to Mono Lake for interment.
Pallbearers were Ernest Bulpitt, Ben Barlow, Fritz Knecht, Harry Anderson, Richard Conway and Archie Pimentel.
