The Hyslop Brothers from left to right: Thomas Hyslop my 3rd Great Grandfather lived from 1822-1907, John Hyslop my 4th Great uncle lived from 1821-1916, Farmed at Lanecroft, Newabbey, and William Hyslop my 4th Great Uncle lived from 1833-1925, Inherited High Cairn on the death of Father James Hyslop in 1887.

Family Group of John Hyslop b 1822, his sister Janet Hyslop b 1828 , William b 1833 and sister Elizabeth b 1834. Janet married Hugh Craig and is my 4th Great Aunt, Hugh and Janet farmed at House of Water Farm in New Cumnock. Elizabeth, my 4th Great Aunt married Hugh Hamilton and they farmed at Polshill in New Cumnock. On the death of William, Elizabeth inherited High Cairn.

Robert Hyslop is my 4th Great Uncle. He is another son of James Hyslop and Elizabeth Kay. He married Agnes McQueen. Agnes was a servant girl at High Cairn, when she met Robert. They farmed at Upper Dullarg. This photo was taken in 1870 and shows from left to right, Maggie, Robert, Elizabeth, Janet, Agnes, Agnes McQueen and James, William (Sat on his fathers lap), Esther, William and Mary. Their last child Annie was born a year later.

 

Above is a later photo of Maggie and Agnes Hyslop. Maggie later married William Sloan and they farmed at Corsencon. Agnes married William Crawford. Agnes and William later owned a Newsagents in Glasgow.

James Hyslop and his second wife Ellen Cottrell, James previously married Janet Robb and emigrated from England to New Zealand.
