The Hornbachs Most of the
Hornbach ancestors came from what is now Germany. The Hornbachs reportedly came
from Baden-Württemberg. The Reidingers and Mosters came from
Rheinland-Pflaz. They all settled in the area of Yorkville, Dearborn County,
Indiana. The Robinsons came from Hesse-Cassel and settled in Cincinnati,
by way of Baltimore, Maryland. Marilyn Jean Hornbach
was born in Indianapolis, Marion
County, Indiana on 13 July 1928, the only child of Charles Joseph and Mary
Frances (Robinson) Hornbach. Jean married Robert Harvey Cusack on 5
February 1948 in Indianapolis. They were later divorced and Jean married
Albert C. Scott on 12 June 1954, also in Indianapolis. Jean passed away
on 25 January 2012. She and Albert are together in the Chapel of Peace
Mausoleum at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Fishers, Indiana. First Generation Charles & Mary Frances (Robinson) Hornbach Charles
(“Carl”), the son of John and Crescenzia Hornbach, was born in Yorkville,
Dearborn County, Indiana on 13 January 1887 and was baptized at St. Martin

Sturgeon, in Cincinnati. They had three children: Lillian (1910), Norma
(1912) and Charles (1918). Catherine died in Indianapolis in 1920 and
Charles married Mary Francis (Corrine) Robinson on 30 August 1927.
Corrine was born on 7 December 1898 in Cincinnati, the daughter of Louis
Robinson and Mary Southwork. They had one child, Marilyn Jean. Charles

Indianapolis. Corrine died on 2 September 1986 and is entombed in the
Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Oaklawn. Second Generation John F. & Crescenzia (Riedinger) Hornbach John, the son

both died in Indianapolis, John on 30 March 1928 and Crescenzia on 24 September
1930. They are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis. Louis C. Robinson & Mary Southwork Louis (some
records also spelled the name Lewis) was the son of Adam and Catherine
Robinson. He was born in Baltimore Maryland on 21 April 1836. He
married Mattie J. Lees (date unknown) and they had one son, Willie, who was
born in 1863. Mattie was born on 4 February 1837 and died on 21 January
1885 in Cincinnati. On 6 June 1861, Louis enlisted in the Union Army and
was commissioned a lieutenant. He served with the 5th Ohio
Infantry and was mustered out on 1 April 1863 as a captain. The 1870 census
showed that Louis was a lieutenant with the Cincinnati Police Department.
By 1887, he was a saloon-keeper. Cincinnati city directories showed he
was still in the saloon business as late as 1905. In 1898, Louis had a
daughter (Mary Frances) by Mary Southwork (said to be the family maid).
They were not married and we have not found any record of Mary. Sometime around
1899, Louis married Frances (unknown). Louis died in Cincinnati on 27
August 1910. He, his parents, wife Mattie and son Willie are buried at
Spring Garden Cemetery in Cincinnati. We have no further information on
Frances. Third Generation Joseph & Catharine (Zinkhorn) Hornbach Joseph was
reportedly born in Bretzingen Baden-Württemberg (southwestern part of present
day Germany). His parents are unknown. On 16 November 1845, he

Church records (in Yorkville) show a Joseph, born 3 September 1814, the husband
of Catherine, dying on 9 September 1874. He buried in the church
cemetery. A Catherine, wife of Joseph Hornbach is buried at York Ridge
Cemetery in Yorkville. She was born on 23 October 1825 and died on 24
December 1912. Research by Suellen Pavlik indicates these are the correct
Joseph and Catherine. Ludwig & Julianna (Moster) Riedinger Johann Ludwig
Riedinger was the son of Franz Michael and Magdalena Riedinger, and was born in
Kandel, Germersheim, Rheinland-Pflaz (western part of present day Germany) on 9

seven children, Michael (1839), Rosa (1842), Catherine (1844), Ludwig Louis

arrived in New York on 5 June 1849. Ludwig died in Dearborn County,
Indiana on 5 December 1872. Julianna died on 12 December 1872 in Dearborn
County. They are buried at St. Martin Church Cemetery in Yorkville.
The church/cemetery records show Ludwig died in 1871, although the grave marker
shows 1872. Ludwig was a master brick layer. Before his marriage to
Julianna, he was said to have been a member of the (Papal) Swiss Guard.
(Since members must be of Swiss citizenship, this is probably ‘family lore. Adam & Catherine (?) Robinson Adam was born

Cincinnati on 13 August 1890. His wife was Catherine (maiden name
unknown). She was born in 1805 (also in Hesse-Cassel) and died on 14
April 1896 at age 90. They and several family members are buried at
Spring Garden Cemetery in Cincinnati. The birth and death dates came from
the cemetery records. The 1850 and 1860 census records show Adam in
Cincinnati. Catherine was shown only in the 1850. We do not know
when they were married, moved to Cincinnati or when they immigrated to America. Fourth Generation Casper & Margaret Ann (?) Zinkhorn Casper was born
in 1792 and Margaret Ann in 1794, both born in Cor Hesse (present day

Casper (1830), John (1832) and Jacob (1835). It is unknown when they
immigrated to America, but by 1840, the family was residing in Butler County,
Pennsylvania. Census records show Casper and Margaret moved to Jefferson,
Adams County, Ohio by 1850 and apparently lived the rest of their lives
there. Margaret died on 14 October 1860 and is buried in East liberty
Cemetery in Adams County. Casper died sometime between 1870 and
1880. Franz Michael & Magdalena Anna (Centner)

Maria Catherine Herle who was born about 1792. She bore him four more

1788. He was the son of Johannes and Katharina Moster and she was the daughter
of Antonius and Eva Picot. Joseph and Maria were married in Kandel on 26
January 1809. They reportedly had twelve children, and apparently

1690, though mostly unverified.) Antonius & Eva Margaretha (Himmel) Picot Antonius was
born around 1740 and Eva around 1755, both in Kandel. They both also died
