Welcome to my web page, listing Isaac Auclair's descendants. I begin with Isaac because he and his wife and children emigrated from Quebec to Wisconsin some time in the 1850s, forming a link between the Auclair family that lived in Quebec and their descendants in the United States.

A note on the names: the ancestral names of the family is Auclair, which is how it is spelled in France and in Quebec, the French-speaking part of Canada. Most of the Auclair descendants in the United States spell their name O'Clair because that coincides with the pronunciation of the French name. Accordingly, in Quebec, the records of Isaac and his children use the last name of "Auclair." In the United States, the records of Isaac and his children use the name "O'Clair." However, beginning around 1900, a third variant "Eau Claire" or "Eauclaire" is used for Isaac Adam and Joseph and their descendants. Since this variant was used only by the two sons who remained in Wisconsin, it was probably associated with the city of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
