Brown-DePreist Cemetery

The  Brown-DePriest Cemetery was established in 1854 in the Birch Creek Valley south west of Birch Tree.  The site is on the farm that was owned by William Henry Brown, son of Jacob Brown.

The cemetery contains a grave of an unknown Confederate soldier that was found in a barn, suffering from Typhoid.  The DePriest Family buried him in the cemetery.

There are several generations of Browns buried here.  Over the years the grounds have been kept in various states of care.  In 1964 when David Allen Brown died, the cemetery was in very sad shape and took several hours to make it presentable for the burial.
