Mercy married Abner Sikes son of Benjamin Sikes and Hannah Chapin on 13 Jan 1757 in Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. Abner was born on 12 Oct 1729 in Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. He died on 24 Jun 1800 in Ludlow, Hampden Co., MA.

Abner Sikes, Ludlow, Revolutionary War record. Private, Capt. Reuben Munn's co., Col. Nicholas Dicke's regt.; pay abstract for mileage, dated Roxbury, Sept. 17, 1776; also, same co. and regt.; pay abstract for mileage, etc., dated Boston, Nov. 26, 1776; mileage for 92 miles allowed said Sikes; also Capt. Aaron Graves's co., David Leonard's regt; entered service May 8, 1777; discharged July 8, 1777; service 2 months 10 days, at the Northward, including 10 days (206 miles) travel from camp home; also, Capt. Ephrain Chapin's co., Col. Ruggles Woodbridge's regt.; enlisted Aug. 12 (also given as 23), 1777; discharged Nov. 30 (also given Nov. 29), 1777; service, 3 mo. 26 (also given 3 mo. 14 days) days, under Gen. Gates in Northern department, including 7 days (146 miles) travel home; order for payment of amounts of roll dated at Springfield and signed by Capt. Chapin. Mercy married John Jennings son of Beriah Jennings and Eunice Stebbins about 1780 in Ludlow, MA. John was born on 18 Oct 1759 in Ludlow, MA. He died about 1825 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

48 M iii Increase Sikes was born on 5 Sep 1760/1761.

Increase married Salla Wright.

237. Elijah Parsons, b. 1744, d. l796, m.1 Oct 26, 1769, Wilbraham, MA, Eunice Cadwell, b. 1741, d 1784, m2 Apr 30, 1785, Eunice Jennings, d. May 6, 1814. He was a private from Wilbraham under James Shaw in Bennington Alarm and present at the surrender of Burgoyne at Saratoga.

In the winter of 1812-13, their house burned in the night and the family barely escaped with their lives, the parents barefooted and in night clothes, carrying the two children three miles to the nearest dwelling. The exposure caused the death of the mother a few months later.

Elijah married (1) Eunice Jennings daughter of Beriah Jennings and Eunice Stebbins on 30 Apr 1785 in Wilbraham, Hampshire Mass. Eunice was born on 9 Aug 1755 in Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. She died on 6 May 1814 in Mass.

Eunice was about 30 yrs. old when she married Elijah and was his 2nd wife. She raised his 4 children, plus 4 of their own. (from writings of Alice Jennings)

Theodotia married Aaron John Miller in Jan 1816 in MA.

Reuben's brother Erastus died in Vigo, IN and Elisha also is said to have died in Vigo, IN.

Erastus married Catherine Anthony. Catherine was born in 1773 in Sharon Springs, Schoharie Co., NY.
61 F ix Silence Parsons was born on 16 Sep 1774 in Wilbraham, Hampshire Mass.
62 M x Elijah Parsons was born in Apr 1776 in Wilbraham, Hampshire Mass. He died on 8 Aug 1837 in Vigo Co., IND.

Reuben's brother Erastus died in Vigo, IN and Elisha also is said to have died in Vigo, IN.
Erastus' wife was born in Sharon, Schoharie Co., NY and in the 1850 Census of that county there is a 75 yr old Elijah Parsons, living in Sharon with the Powell family....gotta be a connection here somewhere.
And he was still there in 1860 age 84, but can't read the name of the family he's living with...Head is male age 60.

From 1820 to 1830, 2 of the males 26-45 have left, the female over 45 is gone,
Was Reuben in Vigo with Elijah in 1820 and had then moved on to La by 1830?
Was the other adult male in 1820 Erastus, who does not appear in Vigo in the 1820 census.

1840 Vigo Co, IND.
Old Elijah is gone, but there is a younger Elijah and a James and a Peter--all living by one another and all with young families--one would assume these are descendants of Elijah.

Flavia married Lewis Hale.
