Mr. Parsons was born in Winn Parish and was left an orphan in early life. He
was reared by his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Mackie. His first
marriage was to Miss Allie Moffett, who died several years after their
marriage. There were two children born to this union, a son, who died when he
was six months of age, and a daughter, who is now Mrs. Mary Buchanan, of
Winnfield. His second marriage was to Miss Georgia Warner, and seven children
were born to this union. His occupation was farming and he owned farms in
Winn and Natchitoches Parishes, and was a prominent Mason.

Said to have never missed a Sat. nite barn dance; would put all her children on pallets made from quilts on the floor at the edge of the dance floor and would dance till the dance was over. Prided herself on the fact that she gave birth to, and raised, a set of twins; also on the fact that all of her pregnancies resulted in a live birth and all her children grew to adulthood. I knew this lady-she was tall (5'10") large boned, slender and walked straight and tall. She come to Monroe, La. from Shreveport to visit with us (her son was my grandfather, CHARLES BRUNSON PARSONS,) and she and I would have Cream of Wheat, cooked on a hot plate in our room at 4 AM (her normal waking time!) She dipped snuff, but comments were made about "how neat she is when she dips!" She was a talker,a loud talker, especially on the phone, which was a new device for her until she died. She was a "hoverer"; my Grandfather worked nights on the

Missouri
Pacific RR and would sleep days--when Georgia Anne visited us, she would listen for every little sound from the bedroom when POP was sleeping and if he coughed or snorted she would open the door and say "Are you awake Charlie??" She wanted him up so she could spend time with her boy--she dearly loved her children. She spent her final years with her daughters (Helen and Edna) in Shreveport.
