TUBBS--BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS PAPERS

Elisha Floyd Petty born 11 June 1823, Franklin Co, TN, died 25 Oct 1907, Limestone Co, TX, was son of Alfred Petty and Mary Tubb. Mary was the daughter of George Tubb and Elizabeth Floyd. In 1903, Elisha petitioned for Identification as a Mississippi Choctaw "for the purpose of claiming a share in the lands of the Choctaw Nation." This claim for lands was based on the Choctaw heritage of Elisha Petty's great-grandmother Mary______, born about 1730, NC and died about 1802 in Pendleton Co, NC, wife of George Tubb. These papers are great reading! I received this in 1969 from Verlia Chambliss Owen, Pine Bluff, Ark.
