Daughter of King of Scotland
FHL Nederland's Patriciaat, pg 226
Blackcastle Manuscript pg 14 states: This illustrious Lady Elizabeth of the isles whom Mackay of Strathnaver married was the eldest daughter of John, Lord of the Isles, by the Princes Margaret, daughter of King Robert II. She was sister german to Donald, Lord of the Isles, the eight in descent from Somerled, Thane of Argyle and King of Man, in 1141. Her grandfather, King Robert II, first of the Stewart family that swayed the Scottish Crown, was the son of Walter, Lord High Stewart of Scotland by the Princes Marjory, only daughter of King Robert I, by his first consort Isabella, daughter of Donald, tenth Earl of Mar...Consequently, Elizabeth of the Isles was daughter of John, Lord of the Isles, granddaughter of KingRobert II, Great Granddaughter of Walter, Lord High Stewart of Scotland, and Great Great Granddaughter of King Robert Bruce, the heroic founder of the Scottish Monarchy--so that in point of High Rank, Antiquity of Family and illustrious descent, there were few, if any one, her equal at that time in Scotland."
